Cheapest 2 Bays NAS, i think Dlink 320. If you want more feature and functionality, i will go for Synology. I paid RM585 for DS213J and i am so far very happy with my purchase if you want to know more about what Synology can do, try to google Synology DSM to learn more. QUOTE(philipcs @ May 5 2014, 05:37 PM) You can use your Synology DSM File Station, mount the remote folder from your Qnap. Then copy directly from Synology to QNAP without using PC. If you are on 1Gb LAN, then the speed will be much faster too. [attachmentid=3958017] Thanks for the help.. That is what I did now. But still figuring how to setup a network backup with RSYNC/RTRR server between my N54L XPenology and TS470 pro

But still figuring how to setup a network backup with RSYNC/RTRR server between my N54L XPenology and TS470 pro I followed this guide to turn my old Dlink 323 to RSync server to backup my data in Synology DS213J. http://www.fatdex.net/php/2013/05/20/how-t...ackup-location/Dont use RSYNC if you just want to "copy" data from old NAS to new NAS. The RSync speed is very slow by design. For backup wise, then ok to use RSYNC

Hey guys I'd like to ask what do you guys do when you need to upgrade the storage space on your NAS? Let's assume that you're using a 4 bay NAS with 1TB each running on RAID 5 and you run out of space and want to replace all 4 HDDs with 3TB ones. Is it possible to remove one 1TB HDD and replace it with a 3TB and rebuild and repeat till u replace all of it and then expand the storage to 9TB?

But I dare not think about how long the rebuild time is going to take.

Those on budget can try the DLINK DNS-327. It has decent write speed (can hit over 60Mbps) and functions to download torrents or direct downloads as well as free service for dynamic IP hostname, so you can access your NAS from the internet without worrying it changes IP. Only RM399 or less. Does the job good so far. Just stay away from the lowest end DNS-320...this will suck with turtle write speed.
