i buy it cos i can get at cost price directly from WD..
everything is good except when u trying to copying 2TB of movie to this drive...it take days ...
it cant do direct USB except using SSH..

the only issue ppl have the trying accessing the storage from outside..
not sure it is because of modem or my unifi line suck sometime i not able to log in to my cloud...
any pro here know how to set up port forwarding or the correct way to set up and diagnose the cloud connection?

the only function different mycloud and book live is streaming media directly when u not in same network...
it act like cloud storage like those box and google drive ...
streaming only work on android device ..ios need special method to get it stream directly

ChromeCast is not very powerful. try get the MiniPC.. with quadcore and same function as chromecast..

in fact Chromecast ...they called as MINI PC . just like your android phone but able use HDMI as output to TV.

I have Synology mobile app, DS Video installed in my iPhone / iPad.
Open the video from the DS Video app and you will see the Casting button on the top right. Then you can choose which chromecast to play the video in TV.

However, I have observed the below limitation of chromecast:
- It not supporting AVI and RMVB file format, i haven't try the MKV yet.
- Playing full HD (1080p) is a bit lagging and could be due to the reason Chromecast is running on Wifi or poor performance of Chromecast.

Yes, chrome is not powerful at all and unable to playback 1080p, at least from Synology mobile apps. I am sure 2nd generation of Chromecast will be better in term of Full HD playback performance.

For me, I prefer Android tv box because I can play anything from any file server, USB drive, HDD in Full HD video via 1Gb LAN.

I never played with those NAS before, but have found those NAS has feature known as FXP that allow FTP transfer between 2 servers/NASes.

You can use your Synology DSM File Station, mount the remote folder from your Qnap.
Then copy directly from Synology to QNAP without using PC.

If you are on 1Gb LAN, then the speed will be much faster too.
