Ah... Jonny from MBS @ BU?

Alrightie! Cos my ori Kenda is 20x1.50 which frankly i don't really like the handling. I feel that its a lil too thin especially when I ride on grass / soil.  flex.gif

yea... MBS

kenda actually.. even the mat leper ( bikers ) dun like it...

this maxxis holy roller oso quite suitable for folding bikes it seems...
not a full knobby tyre..

Where do we get the Maxxis DTH tyres? I was looking around and realized that there is a maximum weight to different tyres, and I'm weighing around 85kg, so the tyre for my weight is 20" x 2.00 or more. Is there any bicycle shops carrying Maxxis Tyres here in Klang Valley or Penang? I also realized that the inner tube has different variant too. doh.gif

if this is real i'm dead meat.. 93kg on 1 1/8 slick..

u better call up johnny to check whether he stil got stock....  biggrin.gif

Yes, stock is still available. Also price the same. Just for your info, there's also Maxxis DTH in 20 X 1.75. Smaller and faster too and it performs way better than the Dahon Rotolos of the same size. I shodded my wife's Boardwalk with the smaller Maxxis DTH. Better for climbs! Comparisons between the two sizes of the Maxxis DTH.

Hi Guys..

I have been thinking of giving this a try but I have no knowledge at all..

Was hoping you guys can provide some advice on how should I get started?
a) What bike should I get? Cost? Where can I get it?
b) What should I learn and take note?
c) Do you guys have sessions regularly?

Thanks in advance and cheers!! :-)

Size of a tire does not accomodate the weight of a rider but rather the pressure you pump into the tires! If you are heavier, you pump more. That's why slicks can go higher but you don't have to pump to the maximum. My Maxxis DTH can actually pump to 100 psi and I tried once and, MAN! rclxub.gif it was bumpy. I now pump only up to 60 psi. No worries about overweight using slicks. icon_rolleyes.gif

My fight is actually between Schwalbe Big Apple 20x2.0 or Maxxis DTH 20x2.20, or even 20x1.95 like what was mentioned in the earlier posts.

Now another thing that I just realised, the width of our bike rims will affect the maximum width of tyres fitted right?

Do correct me if I'm wrong as I'm a noob here biggrin.gif

I'm not sure either that's why I'm consulting all the Sifus here biggrin.gif

And I don't really know what's the maximum width to fit onto my stock rims, unless I bring over to the shop for the pros to see and advise.

I have tried 20 x 2.0 Big apples with Kinetix Pro rims before. It's a little bit tight to mount the tyres onto the RIM but apart from that it runs fine and will offer the most protection to the rims.

Yup mine is LGS POP, and yeah the fork is rather tight even with stock Kenda 20x1.50 so I'm kinda disturbed by the fact that I might not be able to upgrade to wider tyres unless I change the fork doh.gif

Wider means thicker as well right?

well, u will never know unless u measure it properly the space on ur LGPop and a big apple
or actually fit one to try it out..

the DTH has twice the TPI of Big apple..
which is suppose to have lower rolling resistance...

etigge claims he can feel the difference ... biggrin.gif
