Before you rant about your slow speed to Maxis Customer Care, please be reminded that speed is affected by few factors:

1) Your device:
-You can't expect it to have 20Mbps when your modem's capability is just running max up to 7.2Mbps.
-You might be having a faulty modem, try switching your SIM card with other modems.

2) Your signal coverage:
-If you are not within LTE coverage or getting awful, then don't expect to have 20Mbps of speed.
-Consider placing your modem at a better spot.

3) Congested with other users:
-If you live in an area where there are a lot of users, be prepared with network congestion.
-All telco providers will do survey first before doing bandwidth allocation.
-Even you got a 100Mbps modem, under congestion, you may not even get 5Mbps.

4) Timing:
-Avoid performing download activities during golden hours (7-11 p.m.), this is the period where those working folks are back to home and start jamming the line. Be considerate with others. You could schedule your downloads to start only after midnight when they go to bed. smile.gif

How to Complaint to Maxis
  • Tweet to Maxis CS @MaxisListens
  • Submit a complaint to Maxis Forum
  • Giving them a call through your Maxis mobile, the number is 123.
  • Use the Maxis Live Chat
Lastly, be patient and they will fix your issue soon!

Compiled by fruitie and updated.

Just bough Dispatch for RM1XX

Don't expect single threaded download to be quick, that was designed for multi threaded connection.

The algorithm is not that good, don't usually utilize my super stable Streamyx 8Mbit.

Yup,
Default setting is "Dominate"

but it seem 'Round Robin" work the best for "balancing loading evenly" among all detected devices.

Haha yeah, when I bought it.. The price more than double. But really worth it cuz it's lifetime. More of us use will help let the Connectify team know there's a need to put some Asian servers in the region. Then Switchboard would be an awesome tool as well haha.

That's normal for DC-HSPA+ upload speed..
The max upload speed I get before is 2.8mpbs
It's depending on area and signal strength

Initially yes, when I started using in April. It can go up to 60Mbps on 1800MHz.
The speed deteriorated 9 9 for 1800MHz since May. Now I can only use 2600MHz which still fares max at 33Mbps. sad.gif

Yet still much cheaper than 30 Mbps Maxis Home... Now I'm paying for one line only... RM 99 Legacy but still worth the money... Before this I use Yes 4G, U Mobile and Celcom but Yes = too expensive, U Mobile = stable for a few months then getting suckier every single day, Celcom = at night extremely slow cannot use at all... Lucky my father still stick his Legacy plan after 10 years and he give his no for me to use the data... Now really satisfied with the speed and value even though with DC-HSPA+ only... smile.gif Hope Maxis expand their LTE coverage entire Seremban A.S.A.P... biggrin.gif

it is wireless broabdband [mobile internet], what you can expect? if want to play game, better choose wired broadband..

but actually there are ways to reduce this problems

1. direct plug in into computer/laptop USB
2. if using wireless router, off the Wifi, and connect the router with your laptop/computer using LAN cable
3. NO ACTIVE DOWNLOAD or UPLOAD [of course, even wired broadband also]
4. if still want to use wireless router and on wifi, make sure no other device or computer use the connection

I'm using MR3420 with MF680, and my ping is not stable, but not more than 80ms

I'm happily play online via g arena and steam

if no active download/upload
can't help you more, sweat.gif

the other way is
1. have you try direct plug in ?
2. if you still want to use wireless router, try find the best spot to place your modem, speed doesn't important, make sure you find the spot that can give you lowest ping and more stable..

that is one of the main reason why your ping unstable... sweat.gif

if there are any download/upload activity in other pc and mobile, it will effect the ping..

Not necessary, I have two panel antennas and they are collecting dust now.

They don't work well for LTE.

Maybe for DC-HSPA+.

Haha, soon will have LTE antenna, boost at least 15dbi above, I'm survey on which connector head better. TS9/SMA/.....

currently there's one antenna can support both 3g/4g
another is only for 4g.

I dun have your modem detail, you need to check first which connector type available on your modem that can connect external antenna (For 4G/3G0, not the one for Wifi)

Currently there's 2 type Antenna you could choose from, it's either 3g+4g (Gain 15dbi) or purely 4g only gain 20dbi+

Bro, your Huawei B593 router modem should come with 2 LTE antenna nod.gif

B593 need the both external antenna to work properly, the internal antenna design itself is insufficient.

Request it from your seller, just check from Huawei, it should come with it

Dont use the TP-LINK one, it is not designed for our 3G/4G modem frequency wink.gif

HI, If you dun mind, I need only know what connector port/head that on your device that can connect external antenna, then I may able help you get a good 3g+4g double antenna which boost ur signal definitely.

Since 4g and 3G are different in band frequency, do note internal wifi antenna of course can't be use for this purpose

here's the original HUAWEI 3/4G antenna you may consider

Same here for sometime in the midnight yesterday. On biz not legacy though. Lasted about an hour or so. The same thing happened the night before but it only lasted about 30 mins.

During the downtime, had to use DC-HPSA+ to be able to surf. LTE no go. But at least got 3G to fallback to. Not the same as your case.

Does anybody know how's the speed in Australia? How much greater than here? But I know no unlimited. sad.gif

I'm actually being shortlisted for a permanent position in my company for Sydney office. biggrin.gif

Hope everything goes smoothly and I shall be transferred to Australia very soon, in these few months. biggrin.gif

Anyway, if I fail to get it, I will still have an opportunity for another position in Singapore. biggrin.gif

If I'm in Australia, then can get BigPond stuff. rolleyes.gif

Goodbye bye.gif

Optus and Telstra speed is close (Optus more pricey) while Voda is quite new so coverage is not as wide as the 2 giant.

In AU, even home cable internet having quota doh.gif

I am using Huawei E587 mifi modem, signal always full bar. I am not sure why the speed is always turtle crawling slow. I think they have done something to capped the speed here since here is near to Inti college=hardcore downloaders, I manage to hit 1Mbps only after threaten to solve the problem thru SKMM if they do not take my case seriously.

I assume you will get prepaid card.
In Singapore M1 are the only one who only offer LTE service for postpaid and prepaid user.
While the rest like Singtel and Starhub offer LTE service for postpaid user only.. smile.gif

Recommended plan that is currently available and recommended modem please? Thanks, might subscribe to this plan rather than fibre, my uncle's LTE reached 30mbps in my area.. also I'm confused about the quota, after reaching it Maxis will throttle our speeds right? What does this mean? " Thanks to Maxis, we won't feel the throttle".

42mbps modem , max dl about 20mbps
lte modem , max dl 50+ mbps

speed are still very vary to signal/tower and "users over area" , only few places can get max speed smile.gif

Again this is only for Maxis 3G/4G legacy Unlimited Mobile Internet - RM99

My principal changed for me, I'm not sure which centre. Either one of these: KLCC, Gardens or Pavilion.
I heard it's free of charge but that was in early July, now I'm not sure.

Hey folks, I haven't been keeping myself updated with developments on the legacy RM99 3G plan. Those on the legacy plan can upgrade to unlimited LTE now? Do we need to change our SIM? Will this process somehow tie me to one of their "limited" existing plans?

If I suddenly get LTE on my legacy plan that would be awesome.

Nope, it is not free.

However, if you are a MOC customer, you can call them to get it waived

Does anybody know how's the speed in Australia? How much greater than here? But I know no unlimited. sad.gif

I'm actually being shortlisted for a permanent position in my company for Sydney office. biggrin.gif

Hope everything goes smoothly and I shall be transferred to Australia very soon, in these few months. biggrin.gif

Anyway, if I fail to get it, I will still have an opportunity for another position in Singapore. biggrin.gif

If I'm in Australia, then can get BigPond stuff. rolleyes.gif

I just back from Sydney 2 weeks ago, i used their optus prepaid plan, data it is unlimited for AUD2 per day, not bad i would say lol notworthy.gif

How to check whether my sim in the HLR Database?

In other words if not in the list i have to cahnge the sim card. Meaning when i change my sim card, automatically it will be included into the HLR DAtabase?

Is this correct?

Any normal size SIM Card from last year or more is incompatible (usually)

Just get it swapped to MicroSIM or NanoSIM
Although there stated to have the the usual size for LTE (Mini SIM) but many swapped but it dont work yet

Any normal size SIM Card from last year or more is incompatible (usually)

Just get it swapped to MicroSIM or NanoSIM
Although there stated to have the the usual size for LTE (Mini SIM) but many swapped but it dont work yet

Thanks @blacktubi for the reply...

the reason i asked coz, my legacy plan speed keep deteriorated since January 2013...

speedtest managed to clock 0.1xmbps.... previously before january can get 10-12mbps easily... i think its related to biz thingy and im affected...

im feels thats maxis throttled my speed...

already lodged report thru masix... tak jalan...
now in second stage thru cfm.. and my speed increase to 1mbps

if still cant get back my speed as previous will complain via mcmc... wish me luck...

and anyone counter this problem before please advice me...

thanks...

Where is your location bro, it could be the Maxis base station at your location either removed or it become very congested

Does your connection improved when you travel to other location?

Bros and sis...

Wanna ask advice. What's the best LTE mifi available now?
Just swapped my legacy 99 multi sims to the LTE-enabled sims.

Why mifi instead of USB modem?
Cause want to use with my iPad 2 and MacBook...

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm a postpaid user and i will be going oversea for holiday next month, i wanted to subcribe to a roaming plan, the plan name is Bridge DataRoam Unlimited.

So basically my only concern about it is the plan mentioned the data will be unlimited so i can use like a boss during my holiday, but i wonder if its true?

Another thing, do i really have to pay upfront RM300 refundable deposit when i activate roaming for my phone?

Yup. It will be unlimited. I used before at Taiwan and I took 5 days package for RM 133.
Before that you need make sure the country you gonna visit that has this offer..
If not mistaken, if you're using postpaid line more than 6 months the deposit for activate roaming is no longer required.

So I have one of those promotional legacy plans, where they offered me unlimited quota for rm28 a month.. I went to maxis wanting to change the sim card to an LTE one and they said I had to change to the surfmore plans to get it. Is there any way I can get LTE while keeping my rm28 a month plan? D: Edit: Its not a phone plan, it's a broadband plan, where I can only get data and sms but not make calls.

RM28 a month is really cheap if it is really unlimited quota[not just quota with unlimited usage]

how about ask them to change your SIM to Nano or Micro SIM card..

even it is broadband sim card, it is working on mobile phone too[surfing internet]

Your plan is using the standard Broadband plan, this thread is for legacy Mobile Internet.

For standard broadband plan, you plan should be RM88 and above. You won't get a SIM change, Maxis would require to buy a LTE modem from them and only issue a LTE SIM that time. icon_idea.gif

Spend another RM16 a month to buy a real debrid or alldebrid services.
It can offline download your torrent and also support 60+ file hosting.

Use BolehVPN, try Euro region server or HK. Use UDP
Use Deluge as BT client, use forced encryption for inbound connection, that can fix certain level of traffic shaping

If you are talking abt movies/music , use Cloud Streaming, you dun even need to buy HDD to store your media.

Its no point to save the downloads stored onto HDD cause we dun even have time to watch them as there are newer ones available everyday !!!

So no way at all to get LTE on this plan? sad.gif

I could have guessed but when you mentioned "2nd attempt" somehow it gives me an impression that you were trying to do 2nd attempt for LTE speed.

I did see the H+ sign though. wink.gif

No , i think i have asked them many times. but if there is anyone you know no longer want this service , you can transfer ownership to yourself with chargers RM50. Both owner and new owner must go there with IC.

Try that five times on each sim, i believe its coincidence as they shared the same Cell and IP range.

And modem make a difference too. What modem is your Biz and Legacy ?

Use 2 same model modems to try at the same time. Use both same dial in method too, eg if they dial in via Router , do the same for both.

Yup..After the freaking Merdeka, Maxis has been block all the Xunlei client such as downloader, lixian.xunlei.com. Although you are a premium user, you will also get throttle...So go get a proxy/vpn to bypass it as well as and i did it =D

Guys...currently I am using the old normal size SIM card.

If I change my normal SIM to Micro SIM, would it affect my "legacy" UNLIMITED quota plan ?

The reason I want to change the SIM card is because wanted to go LTE smile.gif

The phone dont actually support 13 bands, that's impossible for today.
There are many variants aka models. smile.gif
Eg, America LTE AWS, China TD-SCDMA, CDMA, WCDMA variants

I remember those old days where my Sony Ericsson P900i costs RM2999.
And the new i5S, just steal your phone and chop your finger along, like that case where the car owner said without his thumbprint, the car is immobilised lol. Though yeah, the car owner shouldn't have told the snatch thieves but hey, now the whole world knows that as long as I have your thumb, I can unlock your phone tongue.gif

Check Hong Kong one, those in USA are CDMA versions specifically designed for sprint or Verizon, we're using the same one as Hong Kong one.

Malaysia iPhone 5 - GSM A1429
Hong Kong iPhone 5c/s, GSM A1529

So logically speaking malaysia should have the A1529 by end of the year, which has both 1800 and 2600 support.

err.. it's a phone which they stressed can be used internationally, so it'll list down all it's capable bands that it's hard-ware is capable of supporting . different model codes means different chips and antenna.

why bring petrol in the picture? if your car can use ron91, means it can use ron 97, not the other way around.

why bring petrol in the picture? if your car can use ron91, means it can use ron 97, not the other way around.
*
It uses the same chip for that specific model which is A1529, it HAS 13 bands capability but they only list that 10 because it's compatible for those country only. But total it has 13 bands.

The petrol one just an analogy. Just I'm case brows.gif

Because the country listed does not use those 3 missing bands, that's why it's not on the list.
Apple will not design another chip with 10, 11 and 13 bands.
And in the end, we WILL have the GSM A1549 that which has both 1800 and 2600 bands.

FYI they're using Qualcomm's radio btw

Every nite from 11pm ~ 2am connections sucks at Non LTE area

Maybe LTE upgrade in progress icon_idea.gif

In LTE area, speed fast as usual , around 15~20Mbps

More and more users are logging into LTE 1800MHz, esp smart fones, hence the cb speed

2600MHz might still have the bandwidth but my area's 2600MHz is still sleeping. doh.gif

I believe all Maxis Paying Customers are Legit, what ever is their package or which ever means they acquired it is up to them to deliberate.

Its not up to us to judge , that is the duty of Maxis Auditors to verify it.

For Biz users pls do not discuss your issues here openly, use PM please as some discussion might be too sensitive to be discussed here and it might jeopardize your "survival" on using its "unique feature"

You guys can PM me or email me. My PM is getting full, emailing would be a great alternative as gmail have an enormous amount of cloud space.

I was using the beta version previously. I don't like the new Dispatch dashboard, claimed to be more responsive but it crashed a few times if loaded for too long (a few days). Haven't try the final release yet.

More options for advanced Hotspot PRO version users where you can configure your preferred DHCP range. Newer drivers to solve issues that users are experiencing but I didn't notice any difference since I don't have any issue previously.

Dispatch feature wise, don't feel much difference as well. sweat.gif

One outdated news for those interested in Connectify Switchboard:
They've added a server closer to us based in Singapore. I can see some significant improvement on the Beta4 release.

Have yet to get a thorough tests on it. Waiting for my cheap dual port ethernet adapter to be shipped from Hong Kong. tongue.gif

So do you think its better not update as the previous one is stable already.

I only use Dispatch sometimes and dun use Hotspot as i have 2 very good 3G routers namely Asus RT N16 and 1043ND. The rest like N13, HW550, MR3420 V1 & V2 serves as bench warmer only laugh.gif

I always update to their latest version no matter what. Just need to get use to the dashboard that I don't like much. tongue.gif
I'm using Hotspot to share out Dispatch's load balanced connections via TL-WDR4300 so that every devices in my house can enjoy the slightly improved connection. Planning to replace it with Switchboard connection once it's consistent and reliable for my own standards.

Can i use 2# Lan , one from RT N16 and another from 1043ND ( both on Maxis LTE ) to plug into that PCI card to have both connections aggregated via Dispatch ?

My WDR4300 is flashed with generic OpenWRT, not using ROOter because not using it for 3G connections. Purely for wireless AP purposes. Not much issue with it except for signal coverage. Have to extend to my whole house using 1043ND via wireless bridging (on generic OpenWRT as well).

Yes, you can do that. I'm already using the on-board NIC and PCI NIC, getting the dual ports NIC to do more stuff. icon_rolleyes.gif

RSSI = signal strength , the lower the better , lowest is -55

SNR = sound noise ratio , meaning your walls is the blocking idoits , the lesser the range the better , go outdoor near a tower and coba try tongue.gif

Is there any easier way change my SIM card from modem to Nexus 7 II LTE?

It's using micro SIM and I would like to switch take out my SIM card when I'm not at home and plug in back to my modem when I'm home. sweat.gif

Adapter is the only way right? Even that I feel cumbersome...

My LTE connection is running since Saturday until today...
If it is not because of my computer faced an error that forced me to restart, I believe I'm still using the same IP address since last week.

The amazement of LTE, the stability is totally notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

The amazement of LTE, the stability is totally notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

Yeah I agree with you. I like the stability of the connection and it has consistent low ping brows.gif

Is your Legacy's LTE speed capped?
Mine yes, around 20Mbps only. sweat.gif
But not Biz68 though.

Yes, both connected to the same tower.
My Note II faces no lag but I'll need another device, so bought this Note 3.

Both connections just went down in my area. Luckily I'm about to sleep now, so it doesn't bother me.

Yup I called their customer service and apparently many places are affected. Few hours downtime expected.

I'll be posted to China for assignment. Already in the request and now pending for approvals from different approvers. biggrin.gif It will be for 2-3 months duration.

If it is 2 months, I will be back before CNY but if it is 3 months, I will still come back for CNY and travel back to China again... smile.gif

Can buy a lot of cheap stuff in China. rolleyes.gif
