Glozz,
You tried Royal Sporting House in Sunway Pyramid? Or even Midvalley Megamall. You might be able to find one there. Rugby balls are not the most popular equipment around, you probably can find them in those big sports store.

Tried Sunway Pyramid. I actually found one shop; selling @ RM100; but figured was too expensive for something I'm just using for training. So; just trying to see whether I can find a cheaper one without having to buy it online.

Hopefully the shop guy near my house fulfills his promise @ 'bout RM50 or so.

Ball is fine. Just that it leaks air quite bad. Oh well; I've got a pump; so no worries. I hope to buy a rugby ball later on today for use with tonight's session.

Added on November 24, 2008, 10:46 amAnyway; beats me, but Howard seems to think that it does make a diff. Always insists on using the stitched one instead of the glue wan. But then again; Howard's brain is kinda "stitched" too anyways.  tongue.gif

hell yes it does make a BIG difference! if you want to know, just try wetting the ball with water and you'll see the difference in material used...

secondly, i dunno what that kind of material called but it makes the ball "harder" and hence causing more impact after shooting...

thirdly, glued ball is more slippery when it gets wet from sweat or, perhaps, saliva... unsure.gif

lastly, i dun like it.... it actually killed off one of my very first glove with FS, imagine a big chunk of latex came off your glove after saving... NOT COOL bruce.gif

Goalkeeper coaching clinic? Wahliu; I'm not that good larr wei.

Nolarr; it's more like I run "assisted futsal GK training" sessions. I setup the coaching sessions and join in the training with a couple of other GKs (Howard used to train as well until he became too good for us liao icon_question.gif ) and help them with their techniques and any problems. But I'm not a coach per se as I need the training myself; 'cause I don't think I'm good enough to be one.

Interested in joining? It's serious commitment though.

Interesting gloves ? No such luck, although I did see one of my favorites, Puma King XL on sale for about RM239.90. But since I'm just gonna play occasionally, I guess what I have now is good enuff. My team did purchased a couple of Puma v1.08 (or v3.08), but I joined the team late & the other keeper already taken the size 10. The size 9 couldn't fit me, so I'll just use my own.

Rugby balls ? Theres a lot of them in Pertama. In fact the shop that we went to, they sell quite a lot of rugby equipment, I even thought of buying those rugby boots for my tournament. I bet none of the opposing striker dare challenge me one on one once they see those 8 aluminium studs ! Just go to Pertama glozz, U can find lotsa rugby balls there, brands include Gilbert & Canterbury. I dunno how much they cost though. Why would U need a rugby ball ? For keeper training ? Actually they're good for reflex & reaction training, although I've never tried them.

Ur doing a goalkeeping training huh ? That's good. Not really coaching la, but kinda help each other out. I'm doing the same thing here, since there are only me & the other keeper, we kinda help each other out in training, sharing training drills, although maybe I have a bit more experience in that dept. If I decide not to play next year, maybe I'll just help out as goalkeeping coach.

RM240 for the new Puma King XL does seem rather steep though.

Hmm; thanks. Do they stock on 3/4 long GK jerseys with paddings here? Trying to look for one as it gets tiring folding my long sleeved jerseys. And my long sleeved jersey's padding is drying up. The online ones are waaay to overpriced to consider.

Hmm; I sorta guessed Pertama would be the place to go for rugby balls. Oh well; we'll see first before I decide whether to go there and get it or not. Don't need expensive ones; just need a rugby ball. happy.gif

Yeah; plan to use 'em for keeper training for concentration and focus. Need something to simulate real shot deflections as there's very rarely more than 2 of us training at one go; and the bounce ball I use for my own self is much too small. For reflex & reaction trainings though; there are more intensive trainings available. Just that deflection training is quite tough to simulate.

Yepp; doing it to ensure I'm in good shape as well as to help out where required. Apparently there aren't too many GKs around who understand that you can prevent injuries by practising good technique. Wah; so fast you wanna become coach kar? I think there aren't too many field football GKs though.

Added on November 25, 2008, 1:24 pmOh right; I'll try to post some pics of the X1 for you soon. tongue.gif

Walk in to any Nike stores or even Al Ikhsan shops in KL, you may find this futsal ball.

I can't recall which is which but there's 2 type of Nike futsal ball. One of them is stitched, another is glued. I used to own one of those glued ones but its not exactly the most durable ball. Then i donated this ball to the Glozz Futsal Goalkeeping Foundation, called GFGF. Went on to buy one of those stitched ones for RM79. So far so good.

If i remember correctly, the glued ones are RM59 while the stitched ones are RM79.

Yep, I saw those. I was hoping someone could tell me where I could get it cheaper. I am aiming for the stitched one, and in lowyat someone was selling them for around rm20 bucks cheaper, so perhaps I could get the same deal in Pertama complex of such.

I've seen a couple but not in Pertama. The brand is Line 7. But I'm pretty sure U can find them in Pertama. Why dun U just buy a normal keeper's jersey & cut off the sleeve, just below the padding ?

Personally, I no longer use padded jerseys or shorts in games. In training I use padded GK shorts, just becoz I have two of them lying around. For jerseys, it's either short sleeve or just a long sleeve jersey with no padding. I guess the situation requires them in futsal.

I've seen a deflection drill on Puma's GK website, it was recommended by Buffon. It requires 3 person anyway & it's actually quite simple & fun. Another thing U could do is U can use normal balls, put them near the small box, then use another ball to kick them. This one U can use 2 person only. Can U imagine this drill ? I forgot where I saw it, but I used it a couple of times & it really helps.

No la. Just a trainer. I myself still needs to be coached. I'm still interested in playing, just that at the moment I'm pretty cautious about the teams I play for. & right now it's for short 2-3 day tournaments only. I really like the team I played for last September I guess, for Sime Darby group tournament. It's like the Seven Samurai (in our case it was like 15 samurais). U pick different2 ppl from different2 places, get them in a team & play together. & we actually managed to play pretty well, considering that we've never played as a team before. It was just that everybody knew what to do, & most importantly, can follow instructions. The manager will just tell them which position to play, according to their strengths, & off we went. Really missed those days. I've played in lotsa teams put together this way & always, we managed at least quarters or semi finals.

Line7? Kool. Where exactly did you see them? Yeah; worse comes to worse; I think I'll just go to Pertama man.

Brilliant idea 'bout cutting off the sleeve man. I wonder why I never thought 'bout it. I'll go do that on one of the spares I have that is too tight on the sleeve. Thanks man. I use padded ones mostly on venues where the air circulation is relatively good 'cause better safe than sorry just to prevent bruises and such when half asleep. I use short sleeved ones or just normal jersey in venues where the air circulation is bad. Sweat like shit otherwise.

For the puma one; saw it too. It's quite interesting; but I think need to use normal football ball as the futsal ball would be too hard and not much of a bounce after the punch. So; would rather buy a rugby ball. tongue.gif As for bouncing the ball on another; hmm, good idea. I think I'll try to adapt that as well. Thanks for the thoughts man. Any idea how to practise low cross cutting and also if the cross reaches the 3rd man? Thanks.

Trainer? As in fitness trainer? tongue.gif Remeninscing eh? Old man larr you. tongue.gif Happens to all of us larr.

For low crosses (below knee level), in football this is what I do. U start in the middle of the goalmouth, facing one post (either left or right). The feeder prepares with the ball about 10-15 feet from the post, facing U. U start by running to the post Ur facing, then stop about 1-2 feet after the post. The feeder kicks (or throws) the ball with a low cross (below knee or grounder) towards U & U try to save the cross. Got it ? Then U can switch the the other post la.

The focus shud be to get to the outside of the near post with the fewest step possible & to focus on saving the low cross with either collapsed dive or extension dive. Do not stand right next to the near post as there's a danger of turning the cross into Ur own net (happened to me, twice).

Old man ? Wei.... not that old okay... tongue.gif

Hmm; sounds similar to what I have just started doing. Small cone goal setup; start at near post with ball feeder on the touchline with couple of balls for different angles. GK starts in middle facing touchline; touches near post; runs backwards and touch far post; then runs and stands outside near post; cross comes in when GK reaches near post. Repeat.

The focus is the same for us; but slightly more complex; as for wider angles; feeder can take a shot as well.

I think to be more realistic requires the 3rd player though. Oh well. Not that old? Good larr. Stop sounding that old then. biggrin.gif

Eh; size 10 that common meh? If you know anyone wanting the Reebok; lemme know man. Can buy you a meal or something. Thanks. laugh.gif

Actually; contrary to popular believe; Pertama is not cheap. It's just that they offer alot more variety; for Malaysia larr. I don't buy gloves in Malaysia; period. cry.gif

Size 10 gloves is not easy to find, most of the gloves I saw was either 8 or 9. I can fit some brand's 9, but I still prefer 10.

U training with cones all ah ? Whoa... sounds pretty intense & serious training, maybe I can drop by once in a while. Where U guys playing ?

I meant; that many ppl with size 10 meh? I thought 9 was more common. Differing sizes per brands are always a pain in the ass though.

Ermm; yeah. Training with cones and stuffs. Not as high tech as it sounds; but yeah; try to make it as intensive as possible. Interested to join? We focus on building stamina for quick energy bursts though; as well as all-round goalie drills. Try not to do too many per session; while maintaining balance. However; our diving focus is all waist-mid-level and lower level diving. No focus on high-height dives as not really encouraged.

Yeah; it's quite serious; thus always on the lookout for committed GKs to join. Not sure whether you're interested in futsal GK training though. Train in Subang. Either Sun/Monday nights and Wednesday nights.

Aye, I have checked out their prices and most of them are similar to what we get outside, but I think there are one or two shops that will be willing to lower their profit margin abit la since competition there is tight. And I need a pair of futsal shoes anyway, so no harm checking out Pertama.

I have found cheap gloves outside in those small sport shops though, including my pair of Uhlsports for like 50 bucks biggrin.gif Happy times indeed. And it is far more durable than my Adidas or Pumas, which big chunk of latex came off the first day I used them for futsal cry.gif

You know how to cut of the long sleeve GK shirt to make it 3/4? Coz currently mine is far too long, have to fold it = annoying.

Well; at the sports shop near my house I managed to get that RM79 ball for RM70 last time for howard; if I'm not mistaken. Hmm; cheap uhlsports? Well; only if you're lucky larr.

There's a special going on for these gloves:

http://www.just-keepers.com/SGP8011.html

I already have 2 buyers. Anyone interested to make it 3? Will cost 'bout 63-64 pounds with shipping. Comes to 'bout RM120 per person max.

Cutting the sleeve? Just use scissors and cut man. My mum helped me cut 'em and fold the sleeves and sew 'em to make it neat and clean. You could send them for a quick stitch if you're like me and can't sew. Shouldn't cost too much.

I do play in Klang. Well; if you're interested in the training in Subang could just let me know. If you could make it once in 1-2 weeks or so should be fine. Let me know if you're interested.

The driving range there. It's just pure training. No fun play as won't have enough time.
