nice review on Crucial M500, talking about the extra feature it sport (vs the old m4). Also has a show down with Samsung 840 Evo. Can't wait for the day when I can afford to replace my whole NAS with arrays of 1TB SSD This post has been edited by nexus2238: Aug 10 2013, 03:32 PM |

And here's my SSD result after a struggling days of installing Windows 8. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Where do you guys go to buy your SSDs?
I'm looking for the Samsung 840 or Samsung 840 PRO cause I heard they're the most reliable. If you got any other recommendations, I would appreciate it. |

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Aug 14 2013, 08:17 AM) Don't ask shop to DIY as they'll probably mark you as non-warranty, simply modify manufacturer configuration may just void your warranty, but if you know how to put it back properly when you RMA then it should be fine I guess. Well, I prefer to do it myself unless the shop is an expert coz, this is my laptop:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8wWVzSjaOk Edit: My laptop's warranty has expired. So maybe I can experiment my laptop. This post has been edited by iwant2: Aug 14 2013, 10:21 AM |

price is steadily going down base on size pattern from what i see.. in 2011 price for 60gb going down fast,2012 price for 120gb going down fast, this year 256gb going down fast..maybe bcoz SSD adaptability for common user has been increase along with the size factor..just pick what secure u the best warranty and after sales support.. the speed for common user doesn't differ much in real life usage.. at first i really check how many second faster boot up speed between various controller in the end i just want SSD that reliable as 2-5 second faster feel almost no different.. jst my 2 cents

Weird is the SSD is not common use in laptop, most of the laptop still using 5400rpm HDD. Only Asus commonly use HDD+SSD hybrid in their Vivobook series.
