Intel IRST Version 12.9.0.1001 is latest rite? Do I need to un-install MSAHCI driver first or just install Intel's?

hmm.gif But I think better stick to most stable one...even it's slightly lower performance. Safe play... sweat.gif

No, if you installed IRST, the Intel AHCI driver will replace the default ACHI driver, you dont have to do anything beside download and install the IRST.
You can always try and uninstall IRST later.
So, do you think Intel released buggy ISRT to destroy people's hopes and dreams? sweat.gif it's more optimized than default one, and probably more advantages, but it's up to you.

yeah your score is 458. normally it's like 415 to 420 from what i have observed.

as for RST drivers, to get the best one it will be a trial and error process. to me the msahci driver is just fail-safe (i.e. all other options failed, because it's quite old). intel RST on the other hand is still in active maintenance and development.

Yesss....both of you are correct. Using latest IRST seems improved the performance a bit

i have 3 plextor m5m in laptops (almost a year; no issue so far) I think the warranty period is the same for both.

a better practice imo is change bios settings, install ssd, then reinstall OS.

did you try the drivers (chipset, RST) from intel? so far i have no issue with w7/8/8.1.

If you dont want to reinstall your OS, here's the trick http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=313676
Another trick is changing SSD to other SATA port with different chipset, but i cant recall if whether if this one will work correctly or not sweat.gif
Never touched SSD and BIOS for decades already.

i tried changing before installing the SSD
same endless boot looop

i suspected the drivers as i didnt install the Intel/ASUS RAID/AHCI drivers. but the driver setup keep saying 'this platform not supported' doh.gif

Simple
Boot with IDE
Modified registry to enable AHCI
Reboot and go bios change to AHCI
That's it

yeah everything is fine now.

if you have more ram, you might wanna try primocache. it's really making things more snappy:

i don't care about writes i just boost the reads.

it's not ramdisk. it's ssd with primocache enabled, a ram-based caching for disks. usually i do this to my hdd's.

since it's ram-based, you need some spare ram space.

i see hmm.gif

impressive speeds indeed, 8GB/s read. but ill stick to SSD atm

dont think 8GB RAM is sufficient
