My friend's Savvy also have this same kind of problem...

His car is already near to 2 years old..but only managed to clock 305++ kilometres..

Every morning when i wanted to start the car, it took me around 2-3 times turning the key till the engine starts..I have off everything (a/c, radio)..and it also jerks @ 2nd gear if speed below 20km/h..

And just now when i parked the car b4 playing football, i noticed that the a/c fan didn't stop even though i have off everything...it took almost 5-7 minutes for the fan to switch off..any reason why this happen??

fyi, the car has undergone a major 'surgery' bcoz the engine jammed..my friend seldom uses his car, only drives it on weekend..and he never warm the engine every morning so the engine oil become so thick...Went for repair @ his friend w/shop to replace the cable plug, spark plug and cam..cost him around RM700 sweat.gif The cable plug itself cost around RM450 shocking.gif
*
well.... sounds like that is his fault. the battery is not recharged properly because it's only heat up for like a few minutes, and the mechanical parts weren't moving enough to get lubrication. and remember savvy is drive-by-wire. the engine behaviour depends on the driving style (throttle, etc...)

QUOTE(earl-ku @ Sep 11 2007, 10:46 PM)
heard the fan thing is normal, will still spin after the engine has stopped, some cooling function i believe ...

correct me if i am wrong ...
i don't recall if my sis' Savvy behaved like that.

Also forgot to mention, CITY is what...40K more expensive??

Let's see, that means you save 1cents per km with City over Savvy( 7cents/km to 8 cents/km)...say u travel 25,000km a year..that makes..25,000 x 1 cents=RM250/year. So, say you use the car for 10 years...that saves you a grand total of RM2500...in 10 YEARS.

If you put 40k in bank at 3% interest per annum, by the end of 10 years, you get RM52,190.

Err...which option do you think is more $$$ saving? smile.gif

Not that i'm saying Honda City is bad...but comparing this too is just way out of league. Of course, if you're going to buy a car in almost same price range as Honda City ( say a Waja at 6xk, or a VIOS around the same price), then the FC saving of the City will plays a very important factor.(btw, i do like the City very much....in fact, much more than a VIOS or all the Proton Sedans).

Anyway, unless you're a frequent highway traveller, the savings is also much less...I don't see any real Savvy owners can even achieve close to those figures. So far my Savvy is around 14km/l...which i consider quite good for city driving already....hopefully it'll improve after a few more thousand km as the car is still new.

although I am not a supporter of MAS, I don't think this is theright kind of bashing for it. I use to travel a lot, and mostly using MAS. I have been stranded in Istanbul/ Zurich/Dubai/KLIA and I got the same treatment from MAS. For KLIA, they give me Concorde Inn. I also stranded using other airlines, and the treatment given is the same, even with Biman (Bangladesh Airlines).

And I travel on economy.

Congrats on your Savvy, mine reaching 53K, and another 7K to go before timing belt replacement.

That's what drive by wire all about..he tried to take care of his car but not using the right way to do it..

That's why im driving his car right now..my working place is much more nearer + no toll biggrin.gif the only thing is i haven't been given a parking bay yet cry.gif so i risked of getting 'love letter' from MPSJ sad.gif

Nope..It already went for 1000, 5000, 10000 and 20000 service..and recently after the 'overhaul' @ 28000 service biggrin.gif

There's a truth about this also..but some people tend to forget that their monthly income is not enough to support expensive cars (FC, Maintainance) but bought it also wink.gif

It's easier to buy a car, just produce 3 months pay slip + other relevant documents + required downpayment..wallaa you got a car edi but when the 'time' comes, you'll regret coz have to fork extra money for maintainance, fc, insurance + road tax..

Thanks for sharing. I haven't been stranded in KLIA before with MAS, so i dunno lar...anyway, the point is, we should expect the same good service whether it's an airplane or a car manufacturer. We pay the dough, we are the customer and customer is always right. smile.gif

Haiya...pm me to get my Proton SA contact ler...very nice guy...my P2 SA on the other hand is average only...no after sales service at all.

I think it's not a good criteria to make a decision to buy a car just because of a bad SA (but no doubt, it does leave a very bad taste and impression). I've actually been to a few Proton showroom, tried about 4 or 5 savvys and deal with different SA before i pick to buy from my current Proton SA coz i think he's honest enuff and knowledgable enuff.

Anyway, i don't get much free stuff with my Myvi either...if u go dealer, then can haggle more, branch is usually very standard stuff. Try to see if they can give you full free service voucher for first 2 service, if not, try to haggle for additional free service(labor) coupon.

Already stated the problems lor...no need repeat and repeat. Basically ok except for the sound thingy which dunno come from where...but it's not a major problem. The rear right door still hard to close even after SA fix it....and i'm still not happy with the petrol cover which is very hard to open even after they lubricate it (WD-40 again???...I think they just wallop and lubricate everything), but better than before.

Do you guys have hard to open petrol cover?? It really sucks such a simple thing can't do properly...maybe need to change the cap altogether??

Oh yeah...the fuel meter is weird...very hard to read.....1st bar can last 4km....last 2 bar will blink immediately and left 1 bar very soon...usually pump full tank only 25litres!!

So far latest fc is 14.xx km/l (i hope i calculate right), which is a bit better than my Myvi at 13.xx km/l (100% city driving).

btw, share another story. Called up Proton-i-don't-really-care again to complain about SC advisor telling me grandma story that Using semi-synth oil will void warranty for my Savvy...it turns out the I-care girl on the line also drives a savvy and she says she uses semi-synth oil! Ha-ha! Anyway, she say she contact the SC centre to clarify and call me back....let's see whether they're doing anything this time....

Nah...they insist on using mineral oil when i want semi-synth. Anyway, no harm trying Mach 5. But i'll go semi-synth next 10k service (or just go change to mach 5 again outside workshop at 5K if engine feels heavy by then).

hey, i need some serious opinions and reviews here, pls dont input any jargons and stupid opinions!

i'm thinking of getting the savvy lite next month.. i know its very bare for the $$ basically with nothing except 4 wheels with an engine and dashboard... i'm deciding to install the fog lamp and power windows which according to the sale person it fetched around $550??

i'm looking for a small decent new car to fit my budget around $450 a month... i just wan to know the FC of this car! serious review on this... is $200 enuf to last for lets say 800km?? my current nissan cefiro is around 23 cents a km... how does the savvy compare?? it seems like everyone is giving different fc statistics! so which one is the accurate ones?

i dont the proton website is accurate as to 5.3l/100km? i'm choosing the Auto version.. so yeh gimme some real answers!
