congrats to new owners.

My 'O' line Savvy is about 52,000 km now (2005 Nov). Journey daily about 100km, cost me around RM7 per day. No problem with the car, normal service no problem to report, just need a little alignment (potholes!).

At the moment is calculating the timing belt change cost at 60K. The PESC quote RM850, but I read in Savoc you can do it less then RM500.

Thank you for the price list.
Which workshop doing it? Do I need to buy the kit separately? Any authorised SC? I believe the RM850 quoted include other extras.

It costs only RM300 plus for complete kit: belt, bearings, oil seal etc, Proton original and Renault sourced from outside cost around that before the price reduction, can get cheaper now especially the Renault brand. Authorised SC will charge RM100 for the labour, since taking out the front right wheel will enable you to access the timing belt easily, labour should be much cheaper a bit outside.

Branded third party from Dayco and Gates with complete kit cost RM380, that will last 100k km compare to Proton original 60k km. For these belts, there's a warranty card to be fill in in case problem arises later.

although I am not a supporter of MAS, I don't think this is theright kind of bashing for it. I use to travel a lot, and mostly using MAS. I have been stranded in Istanbul/ Zurich/Dubai/KLIA and I got the same treatment from MAS. For KLIA, they give me Concorde Inn. I also stranded using other airlines, and the treatment given is the same, even with Biman (Bangladesh Airlines).

And I travel on economy.

Congrats on your Savvy, mine reaching 53K, and another 7K to go before timing belt replacement.

because of some smear campaign the price of 2nd Savvy is quite low. However, when you drive one, then you will realise what a steal the car is.

I own the car from 2005, and never regret a single second of that time.

15" is okay, but I do think 14" will add more zest to the Savvy.
