1. Preferred Brand: Any good brand that will fit my budget
2. Budget: ~4K RM
3. Usage: Gaming (GW2, Rift, etc)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15.6"

I thought I was sold with the Y500 dual graphic cards (GT750M) but I'm not sure if there are better options (like MSI, probably) which would offer better fps at higher graphic settings. I don't know much about graphic cards and benchmarking and such so I hope you guys can give me options before I buy next month. I would also prefer that it be robust/sturdy but my main concern would be towards gameplay experience. Thanks in advance, I hope to hear from you soon.

GT750M SLI (that is 2 GT750M) indeed is very powerful. You can look at this list to see how this configuration stack against other mobile GPU:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html

But SLI support is depending on games. You need to check if the games you play could utilise 2 GPU in SLI. If not, the game will run using 1 GT750M.
http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/technology/sli
Btw, both the games you listed support SLI.

Gaming laptop is expensive. So for your budget, there is not too much choice tongue.gif

And that's about it.

In terms of sturdiness, Y500 probably will come in last laugh.gif
In terms of pure GPU mayhem, GT750M SLI (on games that support it) is the best of this lot. But do note that you need to deal with SLI smile.gif

You mean Lenovo Y510? Still not in MY, right? I've been game-starved for 6 months already and I'm beginning to loose my mind hahaha

Edit: Just read somewhere: "additional GPU = SLI" ... again, I'm a noob when it comes to specifications. So go for Y500?

Both the Lenovo Y500 and Y510p comes with GT750M right?
Only main difference is the CPU-generation and also Nvidia Optimus (iinm)
It all depends on whether you can wait or not I guess laugh.gif

Thanks for the response and the quotations. If I wait another month (which at this point, I can't lol) I could probably add 2K RM more to the budget but I guess I will go with the Y500 SLI coz they've been releasing a lot of updates in the games I play and each day that pass, I miss a lot of stuff. Hoping to find a reseller as well with freebies rclxm9.gif

Don't know whether the GT750M SLI can handle GTA5 or not brows.gif
haha, anyways ,just teasing!
Buy when you need, wait if you can!
Since you cannot wait already, just go for the best pick at the moment, which is undoubtedly the Y500 nod.gif

As for freebies, they are not worth it, ask for more discounts instead icon_rolleyes.gif
Can look for devour, hikari85 and storm88 for Lenovo units

[PF T.J.] do you know where to buy this?
ASUS VivoBook S400 Screen Protector

Because my friend who bought the S400 asking me where to get Screen Protector sweat.gif

Also, this model,
K46CB-WX060H – 14” / i5-3337U / 2GB / 750GB / GT740 2G / W8
Does this come with Windows 7 model? Because no touchscreen using W8 is painful.

wow, that looks very promising... definately what i'm looking for...

but i have a few questions

1) is the warranty international? (as in i can go to australia, india, china, japan and still claim the warranty)
2) is the cooling system okay? (does it heat up a lot)
3) are you a seller?

I'll also be doing some googling job on the model to read more, but appreciate if sifus and kind people to give opinion on this... smile.gif

More details on the Y series here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2851949
Its a very comprehensive thread by ytlay sifu, I'm sure you will find eveything there icon_rolleyes.gif

As for international warranty coverage, I'm not so sure anymore, and I didn't manage to find much info from their website, pretty confusing.. Better check with sellers or Lenovo itself nod.gif

As for the heat, the notebook will get hot since it packs quite a lot of punch laugh.gif Just make sure you clean the fans regularly nod.gif
And if you are still worried, replace the HDD with an SSD, that will reduce heat by abit~

Man, the Acer survive a 2m vertical drop. That's very good  thumbup.gif

Can see that you need lots of RAM, especially if you run virtualisation. 8G stick is ~ RM200 now. You could upgrade after market, normally will not void hardware warranty.
The Haswell CPU is still not flooding the market yet. So currently most laptop with i7 are Ivy Bridge.
Yes, you don't need discrete GPU for your usage.
if 14" and 15" are displaying the same resolution (1366x768), you are looking at the same image, just slightly bigger smile.gif
But you budget is kind of tight to go for a proper "business class" laptop.
And for consumer class laptop, normally models spec with i7 CPU also come with some sort of Nvidia / AMD GPU  tongue.gif

Acer
V3-571G-73614G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2699[2.6kg], 4GB, 1TB, W7HP
V3-571G-736b8G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT730M(DDR3) + (1920x1080 IPS) @RM2899[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8

Dell
Inspiron 15R, i7-3612QM +AMD HD7670M@RM2599[2.74kg], 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8

Lenovo
Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), freeDOS, white (this one tick all your boxes, but you need to look hard for it, since it is a older model, not many re-sellers have stock)

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
Lots of smoothness in user experience actually is dictated by the disc access speed. You may want to consider going for SSD (128G ~ RM300, 256G ~ RM600) to replace the HDD.

It's not really 2m kinda like 1.5m and it's in a non-protective school bag so it can considered as direct drop as i can hear the sound of "pop" upon impact on solid floor

Anyway thanks much for the suggestion, i am wondering about the Acer you suggested will they like very bad in cooling?
My current one is very very bad it can goes up to 100C for just browsing on chrome or checking email using IE. It only stay 55~65C when everything is closed and in idle desktop mode.

That Lenovo seem nice though considered the specs and price

Your Acer seems to be with you for some time already.
And you does not sounds like someone who has ever clean their laptop laugh.gif
When dust clog up the air inlet/outlet vent and the internal fan, the abilities of the laptop to dissipate heat is compromised, which leads to bad temp. You should periodically (at least once every 1/2 year hmm.gif ) clean all these off dust properly.
100C is really bad.
Your Acer is really amazing being able to survive for so long in such high temp laugh.gif

But the Acer V3 that I listed earlier, with the i7, could get a bit warm.

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2738492&hl=acer
see here for owner's view on the spec with IPS panel thumbup.gif

Yes, the Lenovo Z580 is the cheapest laptop with i7 quad core in Malaysia, if you could still find it smile.gif

The Lenovo Ideapad Y500 is the best gaming notebook for a budget of RM3k at the moment nod.gif
But since you don't want a Lenovo, can consider this:
15.6"
MSI GE60K, i5-3230M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2899, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, 2 years warranty
