hye guys, i am currently doing my 1 year course in INSTEP and will be graduating as a production tech/operator next year..can anyone tell me how far can a technician go in this field?what is the salary range for the freshie?and how is the working environment in petronas carigali?
*
As per what I know, entry level prod. tech if working offshore could get take home pay around 4k this including offshore allowance + OT + shift.. But, if your job as maintenance tech, you will get slightly less because not entitle for shift allowance.. As you get more exp, you will become senior tech >> tech. team leader >> supervisor >> some cases might become platform supt / (Offshore Installation Manager) OIM .. this is based on true story since I also working at one of the platform offshore Terengganu.. smile.gif

Any otai otai hear before H20 Pioneer Drilling Company? Saw them advertise for recruitment with Jobstreet SG & a Singapore contact number and also in Malaysia. I applied & got replied for a skype interview.

I search around but cant find any profile of this company, website is available but its plain simple type with no director or ceo names. Called the singapore number but it is wrong and for Malaysia posting the number is weird, main hentam one dunno from which country. Smell fishy here.

I would like to share this out with you guys here.

Bro, I get to dig deeper its a job scam. That fella created a website which is http://h20pdrilling.com/index.htm

Btw, I actually did call the number for Singapore and it does not exist, later on I found out the number posted in Jobstreet Malaysia look fishy, the same goes to his website, too ordinary simple. Added more is the time of skype interview at 5PM, which I can only think of its morning time for the UK, but their website show they are a US company posting on Jobstreet Singapore. I search google map for the address and I feel there is something fishy with that location. Too many mismatch info I had notice. Please find attached below the email reply from him, asking for skype id and certification which might be useful to be use as forgery.

Someone share his scam job at here http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?t=576642

and this fella is posting classified job post on Jobstreet Malaysia and Jobstreet Singapore

Just check with SSM Malaysia to ensure it is legal. All companies need to register with them in order to do their business in Malaysia.

Gut feeling tells me it is a scam. Like SFF mentioned, one can check the list of companies on SSM. However, there may be a window period (daily, weekly?) between the actual date of registration and updating of SSM's database to include the newly-registered company, so there are exceptions to this method of verification.

I would say take certs that are not trade-specific, because as a diploma holder you are over-qualified for tradesmen or roughneck jobs. E.g. trades are like riggers, scaffolders, welders, cutters; each requires different certs.

Instead, take the offshore course that is absolutely essential for working offshore, mainly the BOSIET. A medical report is also needed to go offshore, but w/o knowing who your future employer is, you might want to put a hold on that as some employers have preferred clinics. I'm not sure if your medical report needs to be completed prior to taking the BOSIET.

What do you think about the basic salary range for a rotating equipment FSR?

Thanks for the reply. Will look into several companies to book my BOSIET course asap. Correct me if i'm wrong , but MIS-BOSET(or is it M-BOSET?) cert is only eligible for offshore in Malaysia whereby BOSET is internationally ?

Roughly:

BOSIET is certified by OPITO (Oil Petroleum Industry & Training Organisation)
MBOSIET is certified by PMU (Petronas Management Unit)

1. If you have BOSIET certificate you can work offshore to anywhere excludes North Sea and Malaysia. (not sure regarding the exception)
2. If you have MBOSIET certifictae you only can work offshore at Malaysia.

i don think it is necessary for u to take those certs on ur own

just apply for a job, enter the company, then if they require u to take those training then u can choose to either pay urself or let the company pay for u (they own ur cert)...most ppl prefer the latter but it still depends on urself
