Hi, i think is normal for Korea car, the car stay in traffic jam but the fuel like still hard working, the meter 8/100KM will up to 9 or 10/100KM but the car is still stay at traffic jam
So that mean Korea car is stop but fuel use like the car still running ?
Compare with my brother car BMW, if stay at traffic jam ,but the meter 8/100KM will not change.
Thank you.

I think you better get your car check. When I stuck in traffic the 8.8l/100 will not change. At least for mine btw I have clocked 7000km

can someone list down what other issues this car has? So far i've got this 3 :

1) horrible mileage
2) random noises in the cabin
3) pathetic resale value.

i really like the design of the car, but still looking at the pros and cons.

thanks.

seriously i really dunno how you come into conclusion that Cerato has pathetic resale value... i've checked mudah and carlist, didnt find any with pathetic resale value also... even forte resale value is on par with the japs...

mileage not sure why some owner getting so bad... mine avg out 11~12+ km/l... which i think is not bad for a C-segment car...

rattling noise it depends on your luck i guess... mine has some minor ones as well...

Yea, would be most welcomed if can share with all how to come up with the view that it has pathetic resale value. We all need to do more research before making certain conclusion. Especially if one is interested to own a car. Reading from a single forum or hearsay from some ppl are just not enough. So far i have no idea what's the resale value is because its a new car & i yet to hear any 2nd hand ones Cerato being offered. But i think i can say Forte has good resale value & at par with other japanese makes. At my place, kuching, few ppl i know has sold off their Forte on their own (not trade in) & they managed to sold it off at only 10-15% reduction over original price after 2 years ownership. So i suppose its pretty decent resale value.

Sofar mileage that i know is quite good also. It is very important to note that FC depends on traffic/where u drive & the way it is drove. If almost 100% highway with minimal jam or long distant without must traffic lights stops, one would get about 6++ L /100km or pump in RM95 of RON95 to travel about 600++ km (again just a example of range depends on how aggressive u step on the gas). So we have really a wide range of FC quotes all over. For me, who stays in city & drive mostly city area, & those who stays in kuching would know that we have lost of traffic lights & jam is bad too & we need to have many stops as roads are short distant (traffic lights, junctions, roundabouts) and my Cerato 1.6 does average of RM92 RON95 (44L) for 450-470km, thats about 9.4L / 100km. I'm ok with it considering the traffic & city road that i drive daily. If i ever drive to outskirt towns during weekend, for a 100km kinda distant, its easily will reach 6++ L /100km with 90km/h-100km/h of speed. Again, I think its gd FC. Please do your own FC calculate, starting from the point when u pump in petrol to the nex time when u re-pump. Its easy DIY calculation which i'm sure we all can do. The L/km figures & remaining km on the dashboard are just estimates. Our own calculations are accurate enough.

On rattling sound, again, i have said i previous posts, it seems affecting all other car makes. Of course not all cars of a particular make wil have it. I myself dun encounter a single rattling sound on my K3 after owning it for 1 yr. My sunglasses do make noise in the compartment but just a little adjustmt then OK d & thats not car rattling sound anyway, haha. Tyre noise? some do complaint they are noisy but thats for the CBU Nexen tyres, i dun think u hv such issue with the Continental ones with the CKD batch.

I think we all need to accept CKD cars may, and i repeat, may, have quality issue on assembly of parts as compared to CBU, and it may applies to all car makes.

Basically, we all need to have a fair-mind to form our own opinion on anything. And it is most important when we want to invest in the item itself. Please take the effort & time to research from reliable sources. I just give 1 example of a "source" and you all can surely shake your heads after reading it. I'm not saying bad about the car make, just an example to show an biased and sole-motive to sell a car by an SA ------------ I was with my friend at Toyota showroom to view the new vios just 2 weeks ago. We said to the SA, its 4-speed & kinda pity....then the SA said why Toyota only want 4 -speed is because all the 5-6 speed out there all have problems, the VW, Ford, Honda....i mean he named almost all the other "rivals" & said thats why Toyota so smart only come out with 4 speed to avoid the 5-6 speed problems everywhere. We both looked at each other & were like "huh, walao eh, like this kinda of reason also can say ah??!! This SA got any real knowledge or not??" So here it goes, we all need to be smart to form any opinion.

Cheers & good luck to those who are looking into new cars.

resale value normally is depend on the current demand of this car model on that time.
Kia so far become more popular car in malaysia so it will has its right resale value in the future.

Hi all

Does the power window lock work for you? Mine doesn't.
Engaging it still allows passenger side window to be rolled down

Even when the power windows are locked, the front driver and passenger controls will override them. This is based on logic that only adults are seated in front and children always take the back seats! biggrin.gif

the safety features itself (not the KX) already can throw the pathetic resale value to rubbish bin.... the interior quality is a bonus..... when come to mileage what is the accepted mileage for a C segment?... i tot in Driven episode 4, paultan and the gang already proven that 2.0 can be more fuel economy compare to FB2.0 with Eco Mode and ford with the latest direct injection.... it's all depending on ur right leg dude... real malaysia road test and not l hear from who and who tongue.gif

any idea if Cerato Kx with kia forte Ex, which one will be better... any SA here (especially Johor area) can advice if i would like to trade in Kia forte Ex year 2012 May to the new cerato Kx.. how much will i need to bare and how long will it takes to get the new car ^^ Thanks a lot in advance.. whats all the pro n cons needed to be concern ? happy.gif

Cerato KX is still head and shoulders over Forte EX.

Firstly, Cerato KX has ABS, EBD and BAS, whereas Forte EX only comes with ABS, without EBD and BAS.

Then, you have flex steer, rear aircon vent, 17 inch alloy rims, welcome lights (puddle lamps & pocket lights), 8 inch LCD display with builtin GPS/DVD player, Auto cruise, LED Daytime running lights, Adjustable and folding side mirrors, Push start button/smart key, front and rear parking assiste system, reverse camera and the list goes on.

1) If say horrible mileage not only Kia, because some Kia owner can get good mileage and some can't, like Toyota Vios also have some can get good mileage and some can't.

2) Random noises in the cabin this is not just Kia patent (Some big names car also will have such problems)

3) pathetic resale value and this also not just Kia patent, undeniably Toyota & Honda is good value car, if really need to say which car brand is pathetic resale value, i think just can say BMW & Mercedes benz, (Why, because my boss buy a Mercedes benz price is RM430K, maybe 1 week just drive 1 or 2 days, after 5 years just sell RM80k), if my boss sell the Mercedes benz before i buy Kia Cerato, the Mercedes benz will be my.....
And now my boss BMW M5 car price RM800K, see after 5 years can sell how much,
I am very very looking forward to, Ha ha ha..........

Yeah the estimate on the display is pretty crappy. Anything below 50km left it will not show. Anyway seems like your mileage is quite bad even for city drive. My wife drive from Shah Alam to kuchai lama daily. Maybe not as jam as yours. The mivy I am driving can go 350km for 35liter so I am actually quite ok with my cerato given that it's a 2.0. Sorry can't help you man. I am not a car guy
*
Maybe you're right, by the way my Kia Cerato is 1.6, and i think not every car is also can get same good mileage, my brother mivy can go 500km-550km per full tank (From Sri Petaling to PJ Old town), and also have some people say Toyota Camry 2.4 fuel save than Toyota Camry 2.0.(So maybe Kia Cerato 2.0 also fuel save than Cerato 1.6)
Thank you.

Oh, i have been many times go to Kia SC check this problem, but they say is normal,
So now just forget it, only here to vent.
And I just go 3000km only (1 week just drive 1 or 2 day ,already 4 month).
And also some people say my car now is in run-in period, after run-in period the fuel will stable for L/100 mileage.
Now i can only look forward to........
Thank you.

Just a friendly reminder to those seeking to get their cars before the Raya festive holidays, please place your booking by this week as we are only about 2.5 weeks away and there is not much time left. At present moment, HP submission /registration cases have increased significantly at all banks and JPJ and processing/turn around time is much slower compared to other normal times due to the higher volume. Hence, do make your purchase early or risk not having your brand new car for the long festive holidays ahead. Avoid last minute hastle due to congestion at banks/JPJ, if possible. Cheers!

Took my car last week and found out there is a paint defect and also stain from unknown thing at engine bonnet, car roof and passenger side both door. Then the SA say it can be remove by polish and ask me to go for polish then claim back from him.

i paid rm238 for 3 layer polish in car's international and found out it can't be remove and according to the car's international guy the paint already blend with the car paint and the stain on the roof maybe from aircond water or bird shit and it's already corroded the paint. Those stain are more than 1 week old meaning it might already there when the car is in their store.

I've call the SA and he say will discuss with his boss how to settle this problem but until now still no news.

so any KIA dealer here can advise me what can i do??? shall i report this to KIA HQ? And i totally unsatisfied with the car condition and is it possible for me to demand for a new car unit??? From the SA he keep on saying i can't dp that.

Advice please??? thanks
