seriously i really dunno how you come into conclusion that Cerato has pathetic resale value... i've checked mudah and carlist, didnt find any with pathetic resale value also... even forte resale value is on par with the japs...
mileage not sure why some owner getting so bad... mine avg out 11~12+ km/l... which i think is not bad for a C-segment car...
rattling noise it depends on your luck i guess... mine has some minor ones as well...
Yea, would be most welcomed if can share with all how to come up with the view that it has pathetic resale value. We all need to do more research before making certain conclusion. Especially if one is interested to own a car. Reading from a single forum or hearsay from some ppl are just not enough. So far i have no idea what's the resale value is because its a new car & i yet to hear any 2nd hand ones Cerato being offered. But i think i can say Forte has good resale value & at par with other japanese makes. At my place, kuching, few ppl i know has sold off their Forte on their own (not trade in) & they managed to sold it off at only 10-15% reduction over original price after 2 years ownership. So i suppose its pretty decent resale value.
Sofar mileage that i know is quite good also. It is very important to note that FC depends on traffic/where u drive & the way it is drove. If almost 100% highway with minimal jam or long distant without must traffic lights stops, one would get about 6++ L /100km or pump in RM95 of RON95 to travel about 600++ km (again just a example of range depends on how aggressive u step on the gas). So we have really a wide range of FC quotes all over. For me, who stays in city & drive mostly city area, & those who stays in kuching would know that we have lost of traffic lights & jam is bad too & we need to have many stops as roads are short distant (traffic lights, junctions, roundabouts) and my Cerato 1.6 does average of RM92 RON95 (44L) for 450-470km, thats about 9.4L / 100km. I'm ok with it considering the traffic & city road that i drive daily. If i ever drive to outskirt towns during weekend, for a 100km kinda distant, its easily will reach 6++ L /100km with 90km/h-100km/h of speed. Again, I think its gd FC. Please do your own FC calculate, starting from the point when u pump in petrol to the nex time when u re-pump. Its easy DIY calculation which i'm sure we all can do. The L/km figures & remaining km on the dashboard are just estimates. Our own calculations are accurate enough.
On rattling sound, again, i have said i previous posts, it seems affecting all other car makes. Of course not all cars of a particular make wil have it. I myself dun encounter a single rattling sound on my K3 after owning it for 1 yr. My sunglasses do make noise in the compartment but just a little adjustmt then OK d & thats not car rattling sound anyway, haha. Tyre noise? some do complaint they are noisy but thats for the CBU Nexen tyres, i dun think u hv such issue with the Continental ones with the CKD batch.
I think we all need to accept CKD cars may, and i repeat, may, have quality issue on assembly of parts as compared to CBU, and it may applies to all car makes.
Basically, we all need to have a fair-mind to form our own opinion on anything. And it is most important when we want to invest in the item itself. Please take the effort & time to research from reliable sources. I just give 1 example of a "source" and you all can surely shake your heads after reading it. I'm not saying bad about the car make, just an example to show an biased and sole-motive to sell a car by an SA ------------ I was with my friend at Toyota showroom to view the new vios just 2 weeks ago. We said to the SA, its 4-speed & kinda pity....then the SA said why Toyota only want 4 -speed is because all the 5-6 speed out there all have problems, the VW, Ford, Honda....i mean he named almost all the other "rivals" & said thats why Toyota so smart only come out with 4 speed to avoid the 5-6 speed problems everywhere. We both looked at each other & were like "huh, walao eh, like this kinda of reason also can say ah??!! This SA got any real knowledge or not??" So here it goes, we all need to be smart to form any opinion.
Cheers & good luck to those who are looking into new cars.
