Pleased to share with all a new Cerato KX version , is expected to be priced around 89,XXX OTR soon.

The main features for KX version that distinguish this version from current spec (let's called it SX) are as follows :

2. Without windshield defogger sensor
3. Without hood insulator
4. 1 piece of ambient sensor instead of 2 in the SX
5. Door belt line is black and not chrome
6. Door mirror/Front delta glass / rear quarter glass without solar, with tinted glass only
7. Door trim - PVC, without soft touch/leather unlike SX
8. Driver Window -Auto power down only. SX has auto power up and down for both driver and passenger windows.
9. Cluster Facia PVC. It s soft touch with leather for SX
10. Without ESP button , with headlamp leveling switch. (IMPROVEMENT) SX has ESP button but without headlamp leveling switch
11. Steering wheel - PVC without paddle shift. SX has leather wrapped with paddle shifter
12. KX has rear fog lamp, SX without (IMPROVEMENT)
13.Foot Pedal - Rubber Foot type. SX Alloy foot type
14. New fabric design
15. Seat - manual adjustment without memory seat
16. Front seat headrest - without sliding function
17. Gear knob PVC. SX has leather cover
18. Parking brake with plastic black button, SX has chrome coated button
19. Sunvisor driver and passenger without illumination
20. 2 airbags on KX.
21. Rear view mirror -manual without ECM (Electronic Chromic Mirror)
22. Without In-car sensor hole
23. Without cluster ioniser
24. Glove box - without cooling function
25. High mounted stop lamp - bulb type. SX with LED Type
26. Rear combination lamp - bulb type. SX with LED Type
27. LED LIght sensor Security & auto light control system only.

The important standard features that is still available for KX are
1. LED Daytime Running Light
2. Auto Lights with Welcome & Escort Lights
3. Rear combination lamps with rear fog lamps
4. MDPS with Flex Steer and Cruise control
5. 8 Inch LCD Touch Screen with GPS and Bluetooth connectivity
6. Rear View Camera
7. Keyless Entry with Push start button and smart key
8. Smart Welcoming system (Puddle Lamp & Pocket Light)
9. Front & Rear Assist System
10. Rear Aircon Vent.

This is NAZA's attempt to compete in the sub 90K market, dominated by many B segment Japanese models, thus giving much value for money to those seeking for a bigger C segment car, but do not mind missing out on some luxurious features. It is somewhat close to what KIA FORTE used to offer to the Malaysian market, but the Cerato is of course a much improved design in overall styling.

think many ppl opt to go for Kia because of the safety features... IMO, at that price range, ppl would opt for city V spec instead...

anyway, looking at the comparison of spec, my current 1.6 also doesnt have the items below... is it add on for newer 1.6?
3. Hood insulator - mine doesnt come with insulator
11. Switch Assys Side Crashpad - mine without ESP button ( also, it means that the lower spec has headlamp leveling but the current one dont? )
18. Gear Knob - mine is not leather wrap

Yes, I agree that some safety features are removed from the KX to lower the price but ultimately, it is a choice between going for full safety features i.e like City V Spec you mentioned OR going for comfort/more space /styling/convenience for Cerato KX. Prior to this, Forte with 2 airbags was selling very well at around 85K before it went out of production, so we can expect Cerato KX to contribute significantly to Kia sales in Malaysia.

The Kx would probably sell better if it is backed by a decent dealer discount or some stuff like free service etc.

Again, it would have to be backed by better after sales service.

If I were to compare the Kx and a City, having gone through my painful experience, I'd suggest people to get a car from a vendor that has a larger, more capable support base. From my experience (and experience of others that I met during the service clinic with the Korean Engineer), the support base that Naza KIA has is just, sad.

On the other hand, I am hoping the Kx sells well so that the availability of spare parts increase. Hence, there is a win situation in all of this, but it needs stronger backing.

This is an alternative 1.6 KX variant and will be sold alongside the current existing K3 variant but at different and lower price bracket. So consumers have a choice.

The New Kia Cerato KX have just arrived at my showroom. Generally it look the same as the high spec version of the Cerato K3. Barely noticeable are some of the accessories which are not found in the KX as compare to the K3 high spec version. However the important features in the KX that still make this car impressive & exciting like the push start, smart key, Day running light, multimedia audio system with GPS/ Bluetooth /DVD/Radio , auto cruise, reverse camera, 4 reverse sensor, 17" alloy sport rims, auto folding side mirror, welcome light, puddle light , supervision cluster meter & auto leveling light are all still available.

Thanks for sharing!! I would say the KX outstands others in the same class. I wish I got the auto-leveling light in my Cerato (current 2.0 model) because KIA advertises it in their brochure and website. Hmmm.......

All manufacturer's car have problem to some degree. But I think a lot of reviews commended on the build quality of the Cerato already.

There's a service schedule for Cerato 1.6 posted a few pages back. I believe it's higher due to the fully synthetic requirement for 10000km service interval if you wanna keep the 5 yrs warranty, or 5000km service interval for semi-synthetic. It's around RM 3,000 for 3 years for 1.6SX version, not sure about the 2.0SX version though.

On the other hand, Honda City and Vios is already 10000km service interval but does not enforce the use of fully synthetic oil to keep the warranty. Therefore the service charges is lower. Oh well, it really depends on what you're comparing against.

If you compare to City/Vios, then Cerato maintenance is more expensive. If you compare to Merc/Audi, then it would be cheaper.

Fuel consumption is about 11-13km/L based on information on Fuelly.
