Anyone can share method by transferring a large amount of money (about RM250k) from Malaysia to Singapore? If anyone wonder why transfer so much, it's for down payment to buy property in SG.

I know one of the method is TT and the rate will follow bank's rate (so might lose few thousand SGD). Any other better way?

Hi, all sifu sifu. I am just recently graduated and interviewed by a recruitment firm on a engineer position in singapore. However the recruitment firm charged me for 50% of the basic salary upon successfully job placement for the recruitment fee. Isit reasonable?

The Berjaya Air flight to Redang at 3pm yesterday was cancelled at 2:55pm because of "weather conditions".

The Firefly flight to Subang at 3.30pm was initially scheduled to be delayed until they boarded early at 3pm. To beat the worsening haze I think.

My 3pm Firefly flight to Ipoh was delayed until we boarded at 3:30pm. Sat on the runway for another 30 minutes waiting for takeoff clearance. Luckily we were allowed to take off instead of being asked to return to the gate.

Today is worse than yesterday. And if tomorrow is as bad as today... I'd say you'd be in for a 50:50 touch and go experience.

Flight took off in the morning, sky look very hazy, but luckily never affect the schedule. Home affected by haze also cry.gif .

Roughly speaking, 1.0myr to 0.9sgd (e.g. MY 5k and SG 4.5k) would be considered an 'equivalent' salary. Of course there are other factors in which you may consider coming over on a "lower" salary.
should cancel imo then you got excuse to ffk your parents for one weekend and join the gang for dinner or drinks icon_idea.gif

Back home already, need to teach baby to call auntie before he can call dad or mum hehe.

Change 1k sgd notes at home around 100 pieces maybe, fly to Changi in business class cabin better than TT if you have the time. They used to have 10k sgd notes, but very rare. Sometime still see it around. If you can find that then just bring the money in your wallet.

Are you desperate enough to pay them? For me, I would never pay a dim to them as recruiters already charge the employer if I am not mistaken.

Could it be risky? In case government ask where is the money come from then how to answer? There is no proof.

i was asking around too... if u r in sg, u can bring cash to money changer and they can remit it to you acct with their ex-rate which is typically better than banks... dont know whether is it possible for msia in your case

well, it is a commercial decision then, if you decide not to accept.. then u will lose the opportunity... if you decide to take it, then you have to pay.. as long as it has been agreed in advance and also payment to them only after you get your first month salary to ensure they dont run with your money without a job...

Your money is clean right? Why no proof? Only the risk of getting stolen in the flight to SG. Hug it with your life and don't fall asleep.

Remember to declare in the customs. I can't remember what is the minimum amount to declare now, around 30k sgd few years back. Fill in some forms and reason to bring in the money. No problem one if you declare and the money is legit. No tax, charges whatsoever.

The 10k notes still available but you have to ask the money changer to keep for you. Dad say very rare in our place, KL should have more. Lost one piece cry until next month.

You don't lose a "few thousand SGD" lah. Even if the spread between bank's TT rate and money changers rate is 3 points (buy ringgit at 2.53 vs 2.50 per SGD), you lose S$1K. Usually the difference is 0.02 or less than that.

For me, that's a small price to pay for convenience AND security of a bank vs an unmonitored money changer. And not to mention the fact that you don't have to walk around with so much cash on your pocket. People have gotten robbed by friends and extended family whom they thought they could trust, for much less. And if the guy standing behind you in the queue at the bank is a spotter, you're going to have an eventful trip from the bank to the money changer.

Oh then need to find a reliable Money Changer in Msia. But considering the risk of losing the entire 250k if the Money Changer is doing hanky panky stuff. I might go for Bank's TT even the exchange rate lower which will cost about SGD 2k+.

Yes it's legit. Initially I thought you mean bring in the money without declaring it. You are right, I remembered is 30k, every time pass by the custom got the board written need to declare if bring more than SGD 30k. But security is one

TT rate is flat. I had checked Maybank's TT is RM27 but the spread for exchange rate is 7 cent. I do checked Maybank's Forex through their website.

Yea, security is part of our concern. I had checked the spread for Maybank, is about 7 cent (2.55 vs 2.48). So about SGD2K+ lesser compare to Money Changer.

Are you comparing a buy rate to a sell rate? The difference seems impossibly high.

Today's average rate is 2.51. So a sell rate of 2.55 sounds okay. But a sell rate of 2.48, even from the most efficient money changer is unrealistic, a little above 2.51 would be where it would be, maybe 2.52 or 2.53.

I would like to apply for the respective e-VP Electronic Visit Pass
(Long-Term). When I try to submit the form online, it prompts with
the Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) Reference No.

For your information, I just aware about my FIN number which is
displayed at the Employment card. However, I do not have
any idea regarding to this Employment Pass Eligibility
Certificate (EPEC) Reference No. How can I retrieve it from?

If the tender of resignation has been made to my current
employer, how long can I still remain in Singapore without
applying for the long term visiting pass? Is that I have to
check out from my current renting house as soon as possible?
and how can I check out from the Singapore immigration
without the Employment Pass card on hand?

i ask yeah 4.1 before.. he say if u remit wif money changer in sg, most likely safe coz it is regulated by MAS, in msia i am skeptical coz a lot of them are liek thugs wif their ex-rates.. especially those in johor..

dont do it all at 1 shot.. spread ur risk.. i think it is usd 10 equivelent then u gotta declare..

tt rate depends on the bank.. and spread is by basis points or %... use

http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/

i think o.5% spread is reasonable for money changer through remittance, cash i think 0.6-0.75%, as for banks 1% for tt and cash is even wider...

http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...tification.aspx

"The Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) scheme has been discontinued since 1 December 2011. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) no longer accept any applications or appeals for this scheme."

So no, you won't be able to apply for the LTVP based on EPEC scheme. After your last day with current employer they will cancel your work pass and I believe you are issued a 30-days valid white card (the same as any tourist) so you need to leave singapore within that 30 days.

And yes, you need to also give notice to your landlord that you are leaving. Your contract should have a 'diplomatic clause' written in that says something like you can break contract if you are forced to exit SG due to no more valid work pass.

Beach Road stretch from Bugis to Lavender MRT. I stay near to the Nicoll Highway MRT in Beach Road. Single room 500, double room 600. Around Nicoll Highway will be like little Thai, but they are generally friendly people.
