With 5 years exp in financial industry, how much can I expect in Singapore? I'm looking into investment analyst vacancies. I tried to search for the salary survey report in those recruitment firm, but the range quoted quite big...

So if I put the amount I get here in Malaysia and change the sign to SGD, is it fair?

If I want to apply jobs in Singapore, should I

1) include a photo on my CV?
2) State expected salary? I notice quite a number of ads require candidates to fill in expectation. In Malaysia, some employers also require, but I never do that still got many calls. So Singapore employers do they filter out applications according to salary expectation?

Depends on whether you need it to be successful in your job.

Professional and legal correspondence and communication in Singapore is in English. If you have a regional job... except for China, Taiwan - Mandarin is not used professionally. Chinese script and is only used in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong (where verbally Cantonese instead of Mandarin is used professionally).

But the fact is that most, if not all ethnic Chinese Singaporeans speak Mandarin. But unless you're dealing with the underbelly of the working classes or the most Chinamen of companies - English or Singlish is usually sufficient (or else where will the local Malays and Indians work?).

Do most of the Singaporeans write and speak fluent Chinese? I'm thinking if my proficiency in Chinese gives me extra edge over Singaporean candidates if I apply for a job in investment line.

Hello all,

I got a job offer in Sg with the offer 3k. Was it a lot of was it little? I have a offer from Sg and 2 from Msia. Which is better? The idea of leaving my KL life and work in SG is a bit depressing  cry.gif But I wonder why so many people wanted to go Sg and work??

How did you get the offer? did you apply in the first place? You did not intend to work in Singapore yet received an offer? How many years of experience you have in Malaysia leh? Dollar for dollar, do you get more/less compared to what you get here?

I have 5 yrs experience. If dollar to dollar vout conversion, obviously I got less.
I want to know from those who are already working in Sg, izzit really so much better working in Sg? (best if you stayed in KL before and working in Sg now)

I don't know what industry you're in. But with 5 years experience, 3K is a bit underpaid. Consider a Singapore fresh business grad got average $4,000 and median $3,500 according to the latest survey conducted by their government.

I also have 5 years experience here in Malaysia. After working a while in KL, I have used to certain things and if you ask me to think of leaving here, meaning leaving my family and friends behind, it is a bit awful.

But I'm also quite fed up about this election results sad.gif I see bleak future for Malaysia. If good opportunities from overseas come, I think I will have no hesitation to work there and settle down there before I can't. The notion of seeing my future generation suffer here and being deprived of education is even more awful.

Hello If I study my degree ( accounting and finance) at curtin sarawak In malaysia is it easy that I can get an Accounting job in singapore???
By the way, what is the basic salary for foreigners that is working in the accounting industry?????

I think you can try Big 4 in Singapore. I don't know if that's hard for fresh grad to get a job in Singapore Big 4. If not, join one of the 4s here, then ask for internal transfer. That's how a lot of ppl do it.

The best site to compare salary in Singapore is
forum.salary.sg

Anyone can share method by transferring a large amount of money (about RM250k) from Malaysia to Singapore? If anyone wonder why transfer so much, it's for down payment to buy property in SG.

I know one of the method is TT and the rate will follow bank's rate (so might lose few thousand SGD). Any other better way?
