Possible?

Need washabushi MacKiddo or Fiona Chin to confirm since they are the only Malaysians I know who own cars in SG, but ...

... what happens if you get into an accident? I imagine you wouldn't have any insurance cover at all.

After 10 years = your car value = $0.00
So even if accidents happen or do not happen, your car still worthless... So who cares insurance cover or not?

doh.gif What if you hit a car which isn't worthless? You pay from your own pocket?

what a headache..i plan to buy hdb resale but i cant do so cos i am not allowed to hold any foreign property....this strict rule is killing a lot of people..in the event if hdb found out, ur hdb may risk of being repossessed.

Sell off everything in Malaysia, or just risk it lor. Same thing as how PR's are not allowed to rent out whole HDB, or Singaporeans can't rent out whole unit before MOP, but so many people do that "lock one room" wayang anyway.

... was told that as foreigner it will be only be considered AFTER the citizens and PRs.

Apparently nobody told that to the hiring team in the banks based in CBP because during lunchtime it looks like Little India.

Update MOM should be done by HR, right? when he updated HR, HR should update his record with MOM? hmm.gif

Ask your HR whether they do or not lor. For my company HR never do, so I updated MOM by myself (made appointment at EPSC, etc). After update new passport number with MOM then can pass autogate liao.

What I mean here is I cant figure out why they are willing to spend 90 mins instead of going to the next door to have Western?
I seldom see this kind of scenario is KL. I wont waste this kind of time.

Because the people who queue are more picky about their food than you are, or at that moment in time they have a hankering for that particular food/cuisine/restaurant.

My pay in Msia is nearly 4k.
I have to reply them asap d.. HOW??

For me I wouldn't come, unless you are fairly confident that your income growth / promotion prospects / etc is bigger than if you had stayed in KL. 3k is not a lot of money in SG; you'd have to take all the transport and housing downgrades but wouldn't have much to compensate upwards in other areas.

hi anyone know at where got the highest rate for money exchange?
sgd to rm of cause...

most people say Arcade at Raffles gives best rates in SG. But unless you are changing huge amount, typically for commonly traded currencies it might not be worth the trip there. For me, changing RM I will just do it in Bedok where I live.

Hey.. I'm looking through the iras (although I just started to work like 4 months ago), there's this employment expenses... which we can use as relief.. this includes the transportation expenses for work.. does this means every time I took the mrt to work and blah blah blah reload my ez link... and claim for relief.. and also keep the receipt every time I reload ez link.?

http://www.iras.gov.sg/irasHome/page04.aspx?id=2802

Examples of wrongful claims
...
Travelling expenses incurred to and from home and office.

QUOTE(ameil @ Jun 12 2013, 09:54 PM)
ANd also a cpf/provident fund relief..what does it means..
I don't have cpf (obviously) but my company pay me in cash..

Encashment of CPF is fully taxable. You can't claim CPF relief unless it's actually paid into CPF.

QUOTE(enermax @ Jun 14 2013, 11:37 AM)
So is that mean if I start working at SG, they only will tax me after I complete1 year right? I thought I will still have to pay the tax for August to Dec 2013, which mean less than 183 days = 15 percent or tax resident (which is higher).

I think your first thought was correct. SG works on a calendar tax year, so for Aug-Dec 2013 you could be taxed at non resident i.e. 15% rates. However by early 2014 you would have then changed classification to tax resident under the '183 days over 2 years' rule, and would be able to claim back your overpaid tax amount. Though I don't know what the timing is for that / how to do the reclaim.

I suppose your family will live in Johor go to school in Johor etc while you alone commute into SG? Any particular reason why not just relocate everyone to SG?

no such rule. Malaysian on work pass can use their licence as long as they want to ride/drive Malaysia registered vehicle into Sg, as long as they do not not stay in Sg

nope. no such thing as 1 year rule on foreign registered vehicles

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jun 19 2013, 12:35 PM)
yup. as long you do not stay in sg, not spr and do not use the bike as part of the nature of your work (for example, like deliver good as part of your work)

sos? spf site doesn't segregate between local and foreign registered vehicles.

QUOTE
To drive a vehicle in Singapore, you must possess a valid Singapore driving licence for the class of vehicle that you want to drive. This requirement applies to all citizens and permanent residents of Singapore and also foreigners who are residing in Singapore for more than twelve (12) months.

A foreigner above 18 years of age and holding a Work Pass/Dependent Pass/Student Pass may drive in Singapore with a valid class 3, 3A or 2B foreign licence, for a period of not more than 12 months. A Singapore driving licence is required after 12 months.

why would a SPF site in Sg talking about foreign vehicle licensing unless specifically doing so ?
and foreign vehicle is under LTA.

So in other words you have no sos hmm.gif tp/spf determines what license you need to drive in SG, doesn't it? the spf website says you need a SG license to "drive a vehicle" in SG. I would assume that this applies equally to foreign and local registered vehicles.

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jun 19 2013, 09:12 PM)
why would this applies to foreign vehicle since it's Singapore Police Force talking about regulations in Singapore ? The sos is still the same wordings, just ones need to interprets is correctly together with LTA regulations

You always flame Alaskanbunny and RabbitS for talking out of his a$s when he simply open his mouth and here you are doing the same thing. You are driving in Singapore, why wouldn't SPF regulations apply? Until and unless you can show some black and white (since you also always flame Lester1987 when he starts talking his by right by left), you're just operating on conjecture.

Like what seantang said earlier, LTA governs whether you can (or can't) use a foreign registered vehicle in SG. TP/SPF governs the license you need to have once you're driving on SG roads. To me the SPF website wording of "drive a vehicle in Singapore" applies equally to SG and foreign registered vehicles.

For all others: Read up the respective SPF and LTA websites and decide for yourself icon_idea.gif
