at last my ep granted. Anyone got good place near ktph hospital or ttsh or somewhere near or central to these places, eg bishan? is it easy to find a place without paying the agent fee? ep granted this morning, flying in one hr time, tomorrow and next week orientation...

Congrats and welcome to the island. If you are looking somewhere near TTSH, can try Whampoa or Balestier area, got direct bus to hospital, Novena, Orchard, Dhoby Ghaut MRT etc.

I would think it's kinda easy to get a room without paying agent, it's just the matter of how much time you willing to spend in hunting.

Do headhunters/employers like to see SG address and phone number before they continue reading the resume?

it's better than seeing a foreign address and contact. That's for sure

I heard from my Singaporean uncle that the government just announced certain change in its policies so jobs must be offered to Singaporeans before foreigners. Is it true? or when will it be effective?

me also...

I've made several application. Few application thru recruitment firm got a reply as below, the rest no news at all.

"...In order to conduct timely interviews, this job is suitable for candidates who currently live in the country where the role is based, and who have the right to work there. We are sorry to advise that for this reason, we are unable to proceed further with your application...."

Is that normal reason they reject? or they need those ppl already stay in sg?
Maybe now is not the right timing, due to off peak and Sg gov strengthen the rules.  rclxub.gif

How you guys apply job? mind to share? How to know they will consider Malaysian?

yap... not the right timing... somemore year end

Figures seem to start at 2.8k onwards. So you decide lor whether you're despo enough to come over on 2k knowing that the average SG Uni graduate gets a full 40-50% more.

what did you put as your expected salary when you applied / were asked? Or was there no mention about salary at all until their offer?

if what you have written down as expected salary matches with what they are offering, i don't see it as an issue as you were ready to take the deal if you put your expected salary around 1800 - 2200 for example.. However if you have already asked for a higher expected salary like 2800 - 3500, then you can perhaps try to negotiate for higher salary.

How come my friend told me that EP Q1 is increased to min 3.3k per month salary on this year june? No longer min 3k. Even though we get the EP doesnt means that sg govt wouldn't change new limit for each level of pass. Today u got EP doesn't mean that after 2years u will still get EP! Not to say PR. After I came here 4months plus... I feel like whatever pass also not important if u r not plan to get PR!

Depend on the type of work you do, you may be required to work at odd hours, midnight, early morning so you can have an online meeting with your colleague overseas. Don't worry about their sleep and life, its always you staying up for the online meeting. And your local boss expect you to come to work at 9am the following day to have a meeting about your meeting yesterday night. Working hour is long, very long but I think you will do ok coming from engineering, 24 hour contactable, forget about movies, concerts and gatherings.

Boss comment on the brand of your dress, bags, the car you driving, even the place you stay so to paint a picture to outsiders they are doing very well to attract more talented people into the industry and also to their clients.

These are what I gathered from my coursemates who worked at ang moh investment banks, one of which one of my very good friend from uni so I don't think she is hiding or boasting anything. Went for one US IB before graduate just to see what they will be offering and partly due to peer pressure but never take up the offer, but still end up working in bank sweat.gif . Bankers look good if you look at the money side. I don't get satisfaction doing my work, its feel like only helping the rich getting richer. Want to do something more meaningful like doctor, dentist or engineer, maybe nurse too wub.gif helping those who really needed it.

Im currently working in European mnc. I dont found what is so good u mentioned. Maybe different company do have different practice. My company do not allow us to stay ot. To avoid paying taxi fares and meal! Totl up is less than 12 dollar thot! They are very culculative. When comes to business they can allow company to loss below 8k just for penalty charges!
