is Q10 can play 3D movie?

the features of Q5 and Q10 is almost the same, just that USB3 and can store HDD. Anything else different between Q5 and Q10?

Thank you for inquiry bro. Pls allow me to explain a bit about playing 3D movies before answer to your question since many ppl ask the same question.

Playing 3D movie, there are two important factors, first is the TV screen, second is the 3D glasses. The screen actually displays two images, and the glasses cause one of the images to enter one eye and the other to enter the other eye which form the 3D effect. ( http://science.howstuffworks.com/3-d-glasses2.htm ).

Basically 3D movies files are encode in Mkv or mp4 format, most of the android play or media player able to play mp4 or mkv without problem. The most important you need a 3D tv to merge the two image into one screen and synchronize with the 3D glasses if you are using active glasses. In summary, you can play 3D movies files in most of Android player, the most important is you need 3D TV which merge the image and synchronize with your 3D glasses to from the 3D images. I am using Samsung 3D TV, personally I played my 3D movies well in Q5 and Q10 player as well as other player as well.

Some media player claim to support 3D movies because it has the merging function same as your 3D TV, however the player still unable to syn the active glasses. Both Q5 or Q10 do not have such function. As mentioned earlier I still can watch 3D movies because the merging function already in my 3D TV. Hope I have answered to your question.

Q5 come with sata interface and cable as well which included power supply, you do not need any external power source just direct connect the SATA disk included the power interface.
The different for Q10 is it come with Internal 3.5'HDD Docking Design where the SATA cable and disk are not expose outside.

Received my Q10. Very pleased with the built quality as compared to the Q5 which I also owned. The black brushed aluminium casing and the tool less SATA drive bay alone are worth the price differences to the Q5.

The clock display is readable from 10ft viewing distance. Hope it will help those undecided on which one to get.

Pls find the rear picture of Device, you can connect the CRT TV with the yellow, red and white cable to crt TV. But to be noted that The old interface only running low resolution video.

Yes, both Q5 and Q10 are sufficient for online streaming, browsing and using some Android apps. Trust me, HiMedia is different from other manufacturer, they will not release half cook product. That is the reason Himedia took so long and yet to launch the dual core device.

Sure can install the xBMC, we preinstall xBMC for both Q5 and Q10 included the addon Navi-X, Channel1 and etc.

If you want to have peace of mind and good quality video, I would advise use HDMI interface.

Unfortunately I'm still using old CRT TV. I guess I will wait for Q5 II. do pm me once the stock is available and stable

Yes, the Android is fully English, English manual included. The challenge is the China Apps are in Chinese. But you still can use US apps like xBMC.

actually a lot of us still keep asstro because of our old parents still want to watch hk and china tv channels. so if you can point out how to make it easy for them to watch those, there will be a lot more people switching to buy your product

Astro give you guaranteed service because you pay subscription every month. The Internet streaming is free service, but there is no service guaranteed.

Watching China channels definitely no problem because no license restriction. But HK TVB need some tricks.

Download is depend in the Apps not the hardware, the Sata basically provide you the internal storage. For example you can download from QVOD apps, but xBMC do not allow download only can watch online.

The Sata is plug and play if your Sata disk already formatted.

1. For Q10, what size of the hard disk that we can put in? desktop or laptop?

2. Is Q10 single core?

1. The harddisk size is 3.5" which normally use for desktop.

2. Yes, Q10 is single core.

3. The operating system is not the same, the launcher is not the same, but the media player apps are the same.

4). The default apps auto start only available in new launcher in Q5II but not in Q10. The new launcher could not install in Q10, only for Q5II. I could not confirm when will the Q10II oversea version will be available, maybe 2-3 months time.

Received mine today. Nicely pack. Plugging in my 3.5" HD is a piece of cake. Only setback is on the HiShare app which I think can be further improve as the control is very limited.

Hi bro, just to check, I'm trying to watch us series (i.e SHIELD) via XBMC app and find that the HD quality version is lagging very seriously. However if I watch those HK drama in HD, it runs smoothly. I know its a free service and no guarantee on quality, just want to double check with you. I'm on 10Mb Unifi.

About the xBMC, the streaming factors depend of the internet line, the content server and the streaming technology. Most of the China content using P2P streaming technology which do not go back to the content server but take the content from the peer who downloaded the movies. With this the traffic do not concentrated in one server but distributed with a few peers. This is same as the Bit-torrent P2P technology. (Just to share with you, you can find US movies in English using China apps as well if you can read mandarin.)

If the media source do not use P2P technology then direct stream from content server to your device. Especially if the content from US or Europe, the streaming traffic travel from US to your device which could be lagging. Btw, do you try few different addon? 1Channel, Icefilm, Mash Up? Each addon has few different source for you to choose.

Last point I would like to highlight is the 10Mbps provided by TM or any service provider is just last mile bandwidth. Which mean the 10Mbps is just within Malaysia, when the traffic go out Malaysia, your internet speed maybe just 1Mbps.

Is there a manual on how to operate himedia launcher? I ran into several problem and unable to figure it out. I'm trying to connect to my PC shared folders using the File Manager. Two problems

1. I can see the shared folder and connect to it but it did not ask for username and password as my shared folder is protected. How can I make it ask for user and password?

2. I add the folder as shortcut. How do I remove the shorcut?

What is the common method other users are using to connect and play media files from pc/server on himedia?

Regarding your two questions, would be appreciated your further clarification to ensure I understand correctly :

1). When you see the shared folder and click the folder, can you access to the content? or open the file from the shared folder?

2). How do you add the short cut? Do you mean in File Manager ? If yes, just click the Menu button from Himedia Remote Control then you see the button "Operation". The operation menu allow you to create or delete files.

I select File Manager -> select Globe (LAN). It list all my shares from PC. I select one of the share (let say Media1). It ask if I want to put in shortcut. I select yes. It put in shortcut but did not list files. it should not list any files as my Media1 is password protected but it never ask for password unlike the example from video/youtube.

I presumed you are using basic windows authentication protection not the domain base authentication. Himedia File Manager is not that user friendly, please goto ES Explorer which I pre-installed for you and follow the below steps :

1). At the left Panel of ES Explorer, select Network -> LAN.
2). Click "Scan" to auto scan shared folder in your network or click "New" to add the shared folder manually.
3). If you click "New", then ES Explorer will prompt you to enter PC IP address, User Name and Password.

Yes, you can connect to old TV with Red, white and Yello cable.
However, we do not recommend to use old TV as new TV channels required higher resolution.

The available channels are more from China and US, Malaysia channels only got a few such as TV1, 2 and 3.
