To fully utilise, you need 7.1 channels AV receiver and good media files with high quality audio and video such as DTS:X, Atmos, Dolby Vision and etc. something i just read about HDR10 and Dolby Vision.4k material not a lot, hdr10 material even less, Dolby Vision... some with Netflix, with a logo: Dolby Vision is the "highest" - will need source, player and TV capable for that. QUOTE The main difference between Dolby Vision and HDR10 though, is the colour depth and brightness the content and equipment is capable of achieving. Dolby Vision content is mastered in up to 12-bit colour depth, compared to 10-bit of HDR10 (which is where HDR10 gets its name from). You may be wondering, what difference could 12-bit over 10-bit possibly make? Well, 12-bit colour depth gives access to over 68 billion colours, compared to just 1 billion with 10-bit. This means the colours you see from Dolby Vision films and on compatible TVs are going to be far more accurate and as the director intended. In order to watch Dolby Vision content, you need to have the right equipment. The benefit of Dolby Vision TVs is that they can support HDR10 as well, but HDR10 TVs can't do Dolby Vision, so if you want the best of both worlds, Dolby Vision is the way to go. ![]() http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/139947-wha...-tech-explained i hv tested many video types with q10pro - excellent results. for audio, atmos is quite common but dtsx is not. hevc and 10 bit quite common but HDR10 and dolby vision is not easily available yet. still, q10pro can deliver excellent results if u play good files with 4k tv and 4k pass thru AVR. get the better files which are typically big - for 55 min tv show - 3gb 720p, 6gb 1080p and 13gb 4k. 2 hr movie will be like 66gb. q10po can handle all of them nicely, excellent colors and vibrancy on yr tv, dtshdma/ddtru hd audio. and i am certain the result with q10pro is better than its predecessor, q16. |

Thanks AVFAN. One week of Q10 and it's been great so far.
Still on an old TV LGLM7600 and Pioneer HTZ 818BD...which is getting old. Now being poisoned by 4k tv and Dolby Vision.... any tips for a new set up. Probably 55 to 65 inches and a soundbar. Suggestions most welcome to help with my research! |

Suggestions most welcome to help with my research! tvs... there is 4k, there is 4k hdr, there is 4k hdr dolby vision. u gotta decide which one suit u best, prices can be very diff. i will also suggest u get one with google androidtv - sony, sharp, philips only. with that, u have a lighter android, good for simple apps and 4k video for youtube and netflix. boxes can't do that becos of certification. can read/ask here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4164164/+120 soundbars are not the best for great audio. full 5.1/7.1 home theater will be much better. check soundbars thoroughly... in that some cheap ones do not hv the capability to deliver good audio. can't help u much as i never use them. can read/ask: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3019947/+660 |

Always had a soft spot for Sharp so will check them out.
Don't really like sound bars but tired of setting systems and wiring hence the reason for even considering the former....i must agree nothing beats a full HT set up. Thanks again. Will holler if I need help! |

Thank you very much for your appreciation of Q10 Pro with the best of breed set top box chipset. Hisilicon, division under innovation company Huawei technology has been working closely with Dolby since 2015 to bring the Dolby Vision into Digital Home Communication. http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2015...olby-Vision-HDR Although 4K Dolby Vision content still new, not easy to obtain at the moment but this future proof technology will come very soon and rapidly. It is the same when I bring in Q16 HEVC 4K two years ago, that time the 4K and HEVC content are not ready but today you can see HEVC and 4K content are available widely. With the recent firmware update to Android 7, Himedia made the right decision to provide further future proof product. Buyer has the chance to switch between Android 5 and Android 7 base on their needs. |

Nicety/all Mele air mouse users
Do we need to calibrate the air mouse? Quite difficult to move the cursor to the point to where we want? Very different from my LG air remote as it goes all over the place regardless of slow or normal hand movement. The centre wheel with arrow if depress stays in and does not pop out - Is this normal? Arrow also points at 10 o'clock- what's this buttons function? Thanks This post has been edited by vsmseiko: Mar 25 2017, 09:03 AM |

q10pro users:
futeko reported: QUOTE HiMedia have informed us that the next Android 7 firmware is delayed until ~ end March due to more work being required from HiSilicon (Q5/Q10 Pro chipset manufacturer and HiMedia partner company). We have requested a list of what will be fixed from HiMedia in this firmware and will update this thread when we have it. meanwhile, i am pleased to find that with my upgraded unifi 50mbps, i can now stream up to 20gb (typically 1080p dtshdma) files on kodi/quasar with path set to the internal HDD. this is very convenient! but it is not good enough since audio is only 2.0. waiting for new firmware to fix the audio part to have hd audio passthrough or a new wrapper. meanwhile, to get dtshdma from a file like that, need to wait for stream to complete, saved, then playback with himedia native player.
