Please read this for HITV related... I believe you guys understand Chinese :
http://bbs.himedia.cn/thread-175249-1-1.html

Due to restricted by Chinese government :
http://tech.sina.com.cn/i/2014-09-19/01209622332.shtml
http://tech.ifeng.com/a/20140918/40812553_0.shtml
http://news.so.com/ns?tn=news&q=%E5%B9%BF%...%8B%E6%9E%B6app

beside HITV, all the Chinese Video On Demand apps (TV Version apps, not mobile version apps) no longer provide service to user who install apps on TV Box (apps can detect installed device)... you guys need to use special 'hack/modified' version only can work on TV Box... if download those apps directly from official site (Youku,Sohu,Tudo...etc) will not work on Android TV Box.
For those who need special hack/modified version of Chinese VOD TV apps which is still can work on Android TV Box then you can download this apps (装机必备) from ZNDS and install via 装机必备 the apps will work again...

This is how the TV apps looks like after blocked:

hopefully not... Himedia Q series (芒果嗨Q) are bundle with Mangotv as a 'paid license' version of box... just like LETV are still working on LeTV Box...

ya, hope so.
not so much about himedia bundle with mango but whether mango will get harassed by the regulators.
hitv is good becos the streaming is very smooth, little or no lagging.
mango not as good for that.
still ok for now for me with mango, hdp and pptvhd.
surely hope no more gets shutdown...

i think it's a matter of time before all sources are banned...by then, we might have to look into China VPN...just like the case of Hulu etc...

another alternative is to look for live iptv box

The bottom line is the copy rights of the movies, if there exist a legal iptv provider with reasonable charges, maybe RM50/month then I believe many are willing to pay for it. However today content copy rights for cross country still ambiguous, and the local broadcast regulation/censorship still will be barrier for iptv providers.

There is still long journey for legal iptv to operate with rich content internationally. It will not come so soon. Do not worry for the time being, just enjoy those free stuff available today. There are plenty of free stuff in the net, we need the group power to explore and share it.

My list for being a comfy couch potato:

Anime: Kissanime.com (with UC Browser- no issue of flash player)
Taiwan/China/Korea drama/show: http://2014a.vslovetv.com/
English series/movies: xbmc 1channel
TVB drama: icdrama.se
Chinese movie: --- (kindly suggest)

But if you using unifi 5mbps, I think it would be more faster if you can just download from those movies or series, no buffering issue as I personally found it annoying to wait.

Dear Customers,

Firmware for Quad Core(1.0.4), Dual Core(1.0.8) and single core(1.1.8) already available in my Skydrive. Just download the firmware from my Skydrive to your Pendrive root directory (DO NOT unzip the file or save in subfolder). There is 2 way to upgrade the firmware :

1). Goto Setting -> Upgrade -> Choose local upgrade. This method will retain the apps and settings after the upgrade.

2). Use the Restore Button to upgrade. This method is clean upgrade, it will remove all the apps and setting, pls backup the apps before use 2nd method. Detail step by step guide is in the Skydrive.

P/S : Method 1 is the less effort where the existing apps remain after upgrade. 2nd method is the clean upgrade if you don't mind to reinstall again all the apps. Upgrade the firmware only when necessary. If the current firmware do not give any issue, it is advisable not to upgrade.

Below are the change log for Dual Core(1.0.8) :
1. Add MangoTV logo in the loading screen
2. Long press HOME button to enter recent used apps and clean apps from memory
3. Minor improvement of Himedia Launcher
4. Fix wrong time shown in some Live TV Apps
5. Launcher error -> http://bbs.himedia.cn/thread-173758-1-1.html
6. Firmware Upgrade intermittent problem.

Below are change log for Quad Core(1.0.4)
1. Improve WIFI stability
2. Fix AirPlay Mirroring issue
3. Long press HOME button to enter recent used apps and clean apps from memory
4. Fix double image when play back video
5. Nibiru improved UI
6. Improve launcher issue

Long presss HOME button, the below screen show.

I saw the folder name as "108 Chinese EMMC". Does it show all language in chinese after upgrade? If yes, how can I switch back to English? BTW, you mentioned that I need to rename the zip file to "update_dualcore_Q10_en_emmc_en.zip" before performing the upgrade. Correct?
For the google patch, I saw the filename is the same as the firmware. Do I apply this after the firmware upgrade? If yes, do I need to add _en for the file as well?

Thanks.

Bro, please sent me screen capture of your Setting -> Device Info, I will help you to determine if you need to rename. Android is always multi language, just goto setting -> Language & Input(recognize the icon) -> Select the language you want. The Google Patch step by step is in the same folder you download the firmware.
