no. when you use semi-synth it's 5k interval. 10k interval is only when you use full-synth
*
not true .
i have been servicing my gen2 campro biasa plus my eb at 10k interval using semi syn . campro engines were designed with 10k service interval in mind. if you check the service manual book. the recommended oil for eb is 10-30 sl rated and service interval is 10k .

my eb sudah 30k + . first two services i did at proton authorized center. tapi , now got no time to send my car to proton for service so for my third service, i service outside. so i poured liqui moly mos2 10-30 . biggrin.gif

my gen2 sudah 230k + . service 10k since beli. no problems.

50 is heavier then 40. Protection will be the same as both came from the same oil. Fuel efficiency definitely 40 compare 50 from my point of view.

I don;t know did you notices that your engine will be very much quieter if using 50. smile.gif

Proton use NGK Iridium (ILKAR7G7) if not mistaken, it can last 100,000km. There is no reason to change unless there is a faulty plug you r experiencing?

You're right, it is expensive! cry.gif

would like to check with you guys...i've just serviced my EB for 20K service and it cost me RM600++ ....dang...u guys shared same experience??? things that SC change:

1) Engine Coolant
2) Fuel filter
3) Fully Syntetic Oil
4) Oil filter
5) 'others' {can't really recap now}

According to the service manual..it doesn't mentioned changing engine coolant and fuel filter...but SC insist to follow their common CVT 20K service instruction....

Appreciate your feedback...

wow 600++ for 20k service shocking.gif mine still at 12k so cannot give any comment.

but from my exp with my previous car (not service with sc), Fuel filter is only rm40 while engine coolant is only less than rm30 per bottle.

maybe u can list out the 'others'.

huhuhuhu that's why... i try to challenge the SC saying that their listed services is not inside my manuals..but they said it's a common service need to be done for the CVT engine...(noticed that their service file content don't really have Exora Bold CFE but CVT...hmmm)

anyone having similar experienced with me? (sudah lari bajet..huhu)

From what i being told. Our engine not recommended to use fully synth oil... Due to the heat generated the oil they are using could not provide sufficient protection for the engine... That why they recommend semi synth oil...

As for others on your list its probably fuel treatment, cabin anti bax...

And i do not think that fuel filter have anything to do with gearbox ... and our cvt oil can last up to 40K...

any solid reason (i mean technical reason) why CFE engine can't use fully synth. oil? reason i changed from semi to fully coz i frequently travel and 5K clocks less than 2months..so i'm thinking to change to fully synth. oil...so not so frequent visiting the SC..plus just nice to follow the service manual (10K interval)...

all the while, i thought fully synth. always much better than the rest (normal/semi-synth.)...

hope to get valid/reasonable explanation instead of rumours... ;p

Guys, one thing I notice after my first service (after CNY) at 1K, after service the response of the car seems not so responsive or not so powerful as compare to the initial before service. Is it because of the engine oil? I chose Helix for this round of service. Just wondering what is the original engine oil when the car comes? Also what type of petrol you guys pump? I am using Shell 95.

Also, wondering will it cause any problem for the next service if I change the engine oil from initial Helix to Petronas because I want to see if there's any different. Any input sifus here?

I did had tht prb after 1k service. The car become less power n un responsive. Where did u service ur car tht time.

I never found why is tht so, but after I had changed to synthetic oil base the engine seems to be more responsive like whem I got the car first time.

Two possibilities:

1. You are using higher viscosity engine oil (recommended is 10W30, it is the W30 that's important.
2. They overfilled your engine oil. Check your dipstick to if the oil level is above MAX.

u shud complain to we.care coz if i not mistaken, cvt supply by punch only need to change the oil n filter for every 60k km. N please check also the type of fluid they using, hopefully the correct one.
i dunno whether thay had change the policy coz as far as i remember, its 60k as stated by punch.

10w 30 is almost all major co recommended for modern engine. U still can use 5w 30@ even 0w 30 coz both are sae 30 rating. The 1st is normally refer to winter rating@ at common known as how thick@thin the oil during cold start. The upper number on the other hand how thick@thin the oil can be when it heated up to normal operating temperature or even under extreme condition. Unless u r kaki pecut, sae 30 rating is suffice enough, unless u always red line kind of guy, then sae 40, 50 or even 60 is better. For normal engine n kaki pecut, sae 40 is enough. Unles high power engine like vw gti, evo, imprezza, ferrari n etc need beyond that, that is if its driven hard every day. If using higher sae, the bad things is that it is thicker, which means heavier. For cfe@iafm+, isnt recommended coz it will effect fc n performance.

But the first number@winter rating shud be atleast 10w. If using lower than that, its ok, but higher than that, isnt recommended coz thicker oil during cold start will cause hard to start, engine need to work hard, n for vvt equip engine, the oil takes time to bath the vvt component, which can lead to unwanted sound coming from vvt during cold start. The lower number cons is that its expansive than 10w, n for older engine that already eat the engine oil, u need regular top up.

So, its up to you, but since u can use cheaper 10w 30, why need to spend more? But if u need to use fully syn oil, make sure its around 10w 30, 5w 30@even 0w30 which is really expensive. For petronas, that is syntium 5000. U can get 5w30 from petronas in form of syntium 3000, n its also has 5w40 for the same range. 0w 40 also available for syntuum 5000.

For me, personally, i used 5w30 fs oil for one of my car, n 10w30 semi for another one.
