hi guys,

currently im driving a trition 2.5 A/T. 2009.

it now gives me some problem.

1)when someone is sitting on the rear seat. it creates some sound. and nowadays, the leaf springs behind starts to emit some squeking sound as well. i have tried spraying WD-40 to the joints but it doesnt work.

2) when i start the car in the morning. the aircon gaves out some burnt smell. but after awhile it will be gone.

im wondering if anyone have the same issue?

was going to send to mitsubishi service centre. just hope to get some opinion here first.=)

I am driving 2012 2.5 AT. Got that sound after two weeks I got it. Sent in for 1k service, complained to mechanic at SC, he removed bush from the leaf spring. Noise gone.

Burnt smell not sure, but my air con doesn't seem to be cold at times. Will file a complaint on next service.

I wondering K&N type drop in high flow air filter will do more good or harm to our triton engine? My triton had vector chip installed.


Pros:
1. Less black smoke when we tekan? More air into combustion chamber to burn fuel = less black smoke
2. Better throttle respond?
3. More power compare to stock air filter? More fuel burned = more power
4. No need to replace air filter anymore because it is washable? How long (mileage) it need to be service?

Cons:
1. More dirt goes into Engine? Filtration not good compare to stock filter.
2. Void warranty?

I'm actually looking for a pickup for casual day 2 day use... hence the most important (apart from looking macho la) would be comfort & safety. I doubt I would ever use it to haul any stuff or carry any cargo (apart from golf bags or travelling luggage ).

I'm looking at Hilux.. Ranger... Triton... still undecided.

Any tips and pointers you guys can provide would be great!

bro, you come triton thread as recommendation majority of us will sure say triton one la But putting ownership aside, Till today i still prefer Triton even after i drove Hilux, Triton and Dmax. IMHO if you want to ask me 2 things i like about triton, it will be design and comfort. More appealing to young adult i guess. (i casual city/outstation driving, so dont need much power. yet. ) Other important feature you could put into your consideration list before deciding are: 1. diesel consumption. 2. Power 3. OTR price and maybe 4. SC quality

Price wise its all around the same.. 100k ish so thats fine for me (I liek it cause minimal tax involved... meaning I pay 100k I get a 100k worth car... not pay 100k, 50k goes to govt tax bleh).

FC also not much of a factor, understand most have pretty decent FC compared to a 2.5/3.0 sedan i reckon.

Power... Rangers seems to have better torque strangely.. but anything 300 should be enuf... I dont carry stuff at all haha

You are right about the FC part, if compare to normal sedan. Within 4WD range (pickups), I believe Dmax has the best FC. efficiency (based on feedback i get from owners. Just sharing ) For my current Triton 2.5 full tank (RM110+) can go up to 840km on highway/790km+ on city. Which I find is much better than my old sedan.

I dont carry much stuff also, for me 2.5 is sufficient. If you can get VGT, thats better. I heard Nissan Navara is pretty well known for its power too.

I have tried the rear passenger seat for Hillux, Triton and Dmax. So far Triton's rear passenger seat was the most comfortable for me. (it wasnt ast stiff/near 90' as others) Just my humble opinion. Should anyone thinks otherwise, please feel free to share.

drop in filter won't affect warranty la.. performance.. can hardly feel.. but thing is.. u don't have to a change filter anymore.. recycle n environmental friendly

i get around 600km on full tank for my 2.5AT standard too.

600km for full tank? City driving or heavy terrains? Carrying any loads? Mine is standard 2.5 AT too. No tuning but usually can go more milleage that 600km..

Anyone have fuel related issues? Mine will jerk or lose power on acceleration. Suspect either injectors, glow plugs or even fuel pump.

Yes. My friend who is driving an Estima told me his RM100 fuel tank can only goes up to 280-300km max. Thats about 33 cent per km. 4WD are really saving in FC.

Yeah, only when it rains or on rough terrains. But usually I will engage into 4WD once a month as some said it is better for the inner parts or engine.

My VGT got a new issues that requires members advice. Recently I found that my truck is sluggish at night. It only happen with my Vector on. Then I called Vector principle and with his advise I found that the sluggishness happen when I on my headlamps. During daytime I also face similar issues when I on my headlamp. I was advised to install a power stabilizer to maintain the electronic power stability. Anyone here can give an idea? I was told mitsu cars / trucks are having this problem especially high performance type ie: EVO series. All also require to install a DC stabilizer.

Oh guys... any idea what's the average price for a decent set of tyres (equivalent to a Mich PS3 sedan standard) for the Triton? I dont require super rugged offroad tyres....

if you dun go offroad, (like 99% of us here), you sahould go for HT tyres - highway terrain

michelin has some nice tyres, but they are on the expensive side (600+) and according to some of forumer's experience, the side wall is a bit soft

i use continental contitrac, which is quiet, does the job, and is quite affordable (rm450 each in Sarawak). they last about 50,000km

450$ each tyre is ok wor.... same price liek my wife's car.... cause I saw these car the tyre so big abit worried its gonna be 1000+ each

20" tyres are at that price


or unless u go for UHP tyres, which i doubt u can fit on the triton

This is because sabah roads are so bad and got many lubang lubang. Sabah inter-city road is no high way like west M'sia. Prefered vehicles are 4x4. So that's why road is cheaper than west M'sia. Thx.

yes, it is an unregistered new unit and just being delivered to show room. I forgot to take photo of it. 2013 VGT has side mirror indicator, auto foldable side mirror and the plastic roll bar.

Gotta agree, the plastic roll bar looks damn bad shape man. Cutting cost to give new feature I guess.

U can find the canopy at Sunway PJS 7. There got a shop is selling it.
The price is around RM4000 include installation and spray.

Thailand. The land of Heaven for 4WD spare part and add on. (including canopy) Although I want to support local industry. But not when the price difference is 50% lower versus local price.

On a side note, I'd change my service center from puchong to sungai besi after 40k. The sungai besi one is vastly superior than then puchong one.

They are nicer, more prompt and know what they are doing !!

This is what I would look for in a sc or membership subscription. After sales service is becoming an important criteria when buying cars nowadays. Glad Mitsubishi are working on this direction.

All MIT SC are run by the same people right? Any diff if I bought from Orion Star and service my car at a diff company?

From what i have seen, each SC is run by different SC manager and mechanics. If unlucky, you might meet up with some SC with sloppy SC manager or mechanics who are newbie and possibly messed up your ride. When one mechanic messed up, they have 2 choice. 1. admit they are new and its their fault. 2. Blame it on the stock unit. 3. Pretend nothing happened and pass your ride back to you. I personally have meet no. 2 and 3. Mechanic experience differ from one person to another. If you can meet a good SC, stick to it. There are just too many people in the forum posting their bad experience in SC, regardless of brands (toyota, honda, Mitsubishi search it and u will find out).

Personally I went out of Mitsu SC after completing 40k milleage. For me, any major issue from stock unit that could happen, would already happen/appear within the first 40k. Any after that the claim process will be more tedious as they say you have done this and that etc. And also i wasnt happy with the low quality petronas black oil that i saw them pouring into my ride. I requested for a better black oil but find their price is much higher, which i can get easily 30-40% cheaper outside. Also i have my own trustable foreman to do the service maintenance. Just individual preference. (thats why i said some, and not all above )

The new triton vgt doesn't change much.. the only diff is the side mirror now comes with turning light indicator and the roll bar is in matt black... similar with the new triton AT.

From what I understand, MMM is planning to bring in Mitsubishi Outlander in near future....

Thanks man. I usually send to Glenmarie, that place is full of Tritons, but pity mechanics there. They are catering between 30-35 units each day. Doubt their heart and focus is there after going through so many units daily.

The mechanic I think sian dy, he told me Glenmarie is like GH for Triton.
