I think your FC is normal for VGT. My VGT FC is more or less the same as yours, 7.xxkm per litter. I mainly city driving around PJ and KL area, some more I'm not heavy footer. SC here said it is normal for VGT drinking diesel like water, no mater how light is your goldern right foot.

My VGT didn't emits a lot of black smoke even during hard accerelation. But after I chipped my VGT, I'll sotong cars behind whenever I had sudden pick up my VGT.

If you want good FC and less black smoke you should choose Hilux VNT instead of Triton VGT. This is just my 2 cents.
