I convert my license after almost 9 years in Sg with student pass and PR. I was told the criterial is my malaysia driving license must be issued at least one years before I came to Sg for long term purpose. In my case is my student pass start date or my passport entry date which ever earlier.

The officer question me why I apply for convention after so many years, I explain I was out of Singapore for a few years during that period and I just save enough to buy a used car. He gamm gamm gamm but process my application anyway.

THANKS!!! A precedent. I'm 7 years overdue already....

Btw, the JPJ transcript will state when we were first issued our licence in Malaysia, wouldn't it? I renewed my current licence very near the date I came to Singapore permanently, so the start date on the current licence itself will be less than one year.

Hi guys, I will be called up for an interview in Micron near woodland. The position offered is test device engineer.

Is anyone here knows what type of questions will be asked during the interview?

I am not sure what to fill in the first starting salary. Normally, what is the salary for a first class holder fresh grad in Micron?

Thanks

Yes, in fact the Pass date is one of the important info they are looking for on the JPJ statement. In my case was during my form 5 year. I had renew my MY license a few time before the convention too.

This is to prevent people from taking easier and cheaper Driving test in other country after they set foot in SG then convert to SG driving license.

Jam for sure.  Well, I've been telling my Malaysian relatives and friends here its just bullshit but some have been living in Singapore so long, they have become as KIASU as the Singaporeans.  I told my wife and sister, if necessary, I will tie them up and put them in the car to drive them back to PJ to vote wink.gif

Problem is, I don't put anything pass BN to play dirty.  Last election in 2008, day after the results came in, I was with a friend in Shah Alam, who's a legal advisor for Pakatan when a call came in.  He told me later that Pakatan people had been to the Selangor state building in Shah Alam (the Ship) and they saw many civil servants driving out from the building in their cars, with boxes of documents.  The Pakatan people had tried to put up roadblocks to stop them and were calling him to ask about the legality of doing so.

To cut a long story short, he told them that they had no power to detain them but to take down their car registration numbers and names, and later Pakatan lodge a police report in Shah Alam.  Same thing happened in Kedah too.  I don't think it would suprise people to hear that the police never did anything about the reports, although it was a clear cut case of breach of official secrets act of these civil servants in removing state and federal documents from the state offices!

Happy Labour Day to everyone here...
Yesterday, I've received a call from sg company! 1st question, they ask my status of employment in sg! I replied "I'm a foreigner"... The HR straight away asked my expected salary!... And, she said it is very high expected, their offer salary range is from 1.8K- 2K SGD!.... I straight away replied, I'm not interested to ur job & hang up the phone!!!... Hello, I feel like she is insulting my 5 years working experience, knowledge and qualification!... They shortlisted me because I've relevant working experience that can be fit their job task well.... Just becuase I've no sg working experience they wanted to pull down my salary range same to freshgraduate diploma holder from sg polytechnic??? Usually, 2K SGD offer is for those who's fresh graduate from sg polytechnic with diploma holder and no experience at all... Unfair... Unfair.....

lol, these cinapek think SGD 2000 is veli high ma .

2000 x 2.47 = RM 5000 . Wow this is like a salary of an engineer of 5 years experience.

The reality is if you are getting RM 5000 ringgit , you should be getting SGD 5000 . or minimum RM5000 x 0.8 = USD 4000 to go to SG .

Anyway, kudos for your bravery to tell them to f*** off.

Day Dreaming? I don't think a local degree holder with no epxerience can get 3k SGD offer in sg! In reality, that's quite impossible. Unless, u r graduate from NUS or NTU SG... I can say 3k sgd paid for NUS & NTU graduated is low paid...I don't think they will call u for interview, If u really write 3k expected salary in ur resume. Even, u get a chance to interview, they will question you "Explain to me why u feel u worth for this expected salary?"....
I know one of ur senior also from UTM BEng in civil. He has 1 yr working exp in M'sia and he 1st jump to SG is only SGD1.8K as civil eng!.... After 3 years woirking in SG only managed to get 3.5k SGD.... Now, he is in management ppl of course, his salary is more n more....
Just bear in mind, no employer willing to offer higher pay for foreigner with no exp (This is reality).

I think Singapore views thing in paper perspective. Unrecognized qualification = NIL, foreigner job experience in non MNC = NIL.
I personally don't have paper qualification. Rather, all is sales experience, i am here now and thinking of going back to school or will forever suffer the low level <2k income competition.
I cannot even open a business here unless it offer something different from the norm.
I view it as a challenge, i will turn the tide or if all else fails, i just migrate to Aussie tongue.gif

Thanks for advice.
I don't think ur job is construction field in SG btw. Do you think NUS, NTU students wanna work under the sun as contractor ? Maybe you can say that I enter the company via back door and this is the reality laugh.gif

U don't expect in EEE & EOM/ Others electronics, semicon, fatroty automation, design engineering industry in Asia can offer u high salary (My survey toward all my customers and suppliers in Asia pacific)!... As I can tell you, my SG suppliers (MNC) managers level all salary is 3K SGD (All of them are singaporean, majority graduated from UK, USA, Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore Universities)!... But, companies in EEE & EOM will send their engineer to USA/ UK//Germany/ Europe for trainings compared to others industries!... As U know that Electronics world is move very fast!... They must keep u in the front in order to help them produce n design more n more advance technology!...

Or, I can says my current company are using advance techonology and system which is much more modern compared to some of the US MNC in SG!... And, I hold a recognize Bachelor Degree!... By right, It shouldn't be a problem to get a job at SG!... I got quite many unimates are working in SG as well...

I agreed to you some of the companies in sg are emphasize on paper prospective!... But, I don't think MNC in sg are emphasize the same thing!.... In the caucasian eyes, SG n M'sia graduated also the same category (As we are asian!)!... That's why when we fill up MNC job application form they just want to see our college/ University results! A-Level/ Pre-school cert/SPM/PMR/UPSR are non-sense to them (Sorry, no offence... I'm just telling the truth)!...

And, I hold a recognize bachelor degree and I've 3 yrs working experience in MNC!... I think I answered ur question right? What is the problem for those sg companies HR?....

Really? U are work as sales only <2K? Quite unbelievable!... U will hv another 20% commission to sell each ur product/ services right? If like that, why don't you consider to work as sales person in M'sia!... Im sure u will hv bright future at M'sia...
