ohh.. that's Bull shit...  doh.gif
for sure coming Friday afternoon will be jammed at checkpoint..

Jam for sure. Well, I've been telling my Malaysian relatives and friends here its just bullshit but some have been living in Singapore so long, they have become as KIASU as the Singaporeans. I told my wife and sister, if necessary, I will tie them up and put them in the car to drive them back to PJ to vote wink.gif

Problem is, I don't put anything pass BN to play dirty. Last election in 2008, day after the results came in, I was with a friend in Shah Alam, who's a legal advisor for Pakatan when a call came in. He told me later that Pakatan people had been to the Selangor state building in Shah Alam (the Ship) and they saw many civil servants driving out from the building in their cars, with boxes of documents. The Pakatan people had tried to put up roadblocks to stop them and were calling him to ask about the legality of doing so.

To cut a long story short, he told them that they had no power to detain them but to take down their car registration numbers and names, and later Pakatan lodge a police report in Shah Alam. Same thing happened in Kedah too. I don't think it would suprise people to hear that the police never did anything about the reports, although it was a clear cut case of breach of official secrets act of these civil servants in removing state and federal documents from the state offices!

Do I have to wait for 6 months to reapply PR if I got rejected the first time or I can simply submit again within a month?

I thought your PR rejection letter will say something like "you are invited to apply again after XYZ months/years/whatever?"

My view is that if you got rejected last month, nothing's stopping you from re-applying immediately, but has anything in your application changed materially that you think you might get approved a month later?

Well, because I have not received the letter yet. Just applied yesterday. My colleague got rejected and the letter did not say how long he should wait before reapply again. No reason no period. Just a letter saying rejected. So I am curious if I could just ignore the period stated and go ahead to reapply.

Like I mentioned earlier, nothing is stopping you from re-applying immediately instead of waiting for 6 months 1 year whatever. However, if there are no material developments that significantly change your application, i.e. you are applying with the same salary same job same marital status same education as your rejected application 1 month ago, why would your new application be approved now?

chances of a different person evaluating who is more lenient. laugh.gif laugh.gif
seriously, that could be a chance...but whether one should risk it or not is up to the applicant.
there is also the chance of getting someone stricter and screwing the applicant over the ignorance of the notice to wait.

If you previously got rejected, and reapply soon after, chances are that your application will be scrutinised more strictly, rather than more leniently. As for getting a more lenient assessor... you should know by know that things get done by the book in SG. Applications may be assessed on a case by case basis, but rest assured that there is a book where they don't deviate from.

By the way, anyone know if there's a time limit after you become PR within which you must convert your driving licence? I read in ecitizen.sg that you need to covert within 3 months after getting your PR. But there's no time limit mentioned on TP website. But it's stated in both that you must show that you were outside the country for more than 12 months prior. But "prior" means anytime before or immediately prior to arriving / returning to SG?

well, in my case, I asked and said all these most likely one of the reason because I wrote wrong year of residing in singapore when requested to add info during the submission?

I got my own reason when I ask for others' opinions and ideas. I need to know what is all the possibilities before I plan. It is not like I think they should approve my new application or so.

Don't understand. I thought SG registered car must be driven with a SG license or after converting MY one. After PR formalities done, the license have to be converted before driving, got 3 months grace period? Or the second case, you mean must convert even if not driving or else can't convert later?
