I don't get it. Why would they launch 2 similar phones when they could have just launched one? Unless the other one is gonna cost cheaper, then it'd be understandable

Sony works in the mysterious way. Even differentiating Japanese and International version, Western and Asian market (the T and TX case) was beyond me.

I guess the absent of dedicated camera button on the Z was done on purpose to improve the selling point on ZL.

After reading review from GMSarena & PhoneArena, the camera performance is just average & below expectation.

actually all android phones camera are lousy.......
the best are still camera from nokia and maybe iphones.....

I am considering this phone but if the price is more than 2k, i might opt out for M7 or S4.

After look this video white not really look nice ler.. cos front black all then back white seems not really integrate the colour. S3 white style nicer.

agreed actually..i booked mine in black.. the only pros regarding white and purple, is that you will see less fingerprints..

TS i think the the first post you should correct from "aGPS with Glonass" to "aGPS and Glonass" reason being these are two very different systems.

for me the hopes is still there for the dock

cause when you see the unboxing reviews done
almost all consist of the same dimensional packaging

just by the look of the package in the amanz video
knew the dock is not included there

even the UK reviewer got the same type of package

i wana mentioned 1 thing here, after i read the comment section, he claimed that the display had the protector sheet removed by the sony store. and from the video, we can c the sony logo still present. i even asked him was he certain about it then he reply to me

so can we conclude that the production unit will have the logo printed on the body instead of the protector sheet? however personally im still not convince until sum1 will make a drop test or scratch test of the production unit, im sure they will take off the sheet and then the mystery will unveiled itself whether the logo is on the body or the sheet.

just wish MY got some pre-order offer, example 1st batch free dock.

First batch will get a free rubber duck...not dock..lolz.

I know. But what's the point of launching ZL when Z is gonna be more attractive? Besides, ZL itself indicates that it should be the one which has the better specs. No?

But I don't see any Japanese nor International variation here for both models. Do you?

I don't get it. Why not just focus on the selling of Z? I have a slightest thinking that ZL won't be a success

Japanese version of Xperia Z has slightly different UI (most notifiable on the lockscreen), and infrared remote sensor (to make the phone function as remote control, for TVs, DVDs, not sure about Astro box, maybe TS knows better). It has NTT docomo logo in front too.

actually all depends on the pricing of the ZL model. if the price different is big compare to Z, i will definitely go for ZL. i believe there r few members here also waiting for ZL.

reason? :

1. i dun like glass back of the Z.
2. i dun need water proof and dust proof, will happily exclude it for cheaper price.
3. dun like the covers on all the ports, annoying to me.
4. physical camera button always useful.
5. smaller size, but not so significant, only smaller by a bit.

unless sony is going to Premium the Z model like iphone strategy, if not, more variant of model will attract more customer and sell more unit, ideally.

but i c xperia ZL, it is better looking thn xperia Z

I think some if not most girls won't like ZL's camera position.
the camera will be at their chin level haha. Sony didn't think about this trivial marketing strategy.

water and dust proof = not a must for me, just like bonus
covering ports = yes, indeed quite annoying each time need to charge, unless sony design some locking mechanism for those opened flaps.
physical camera button = indeed useful on some occasion. also like bonus if have
smaller size = VERY IMPORTANT TO ME... i don't quite like huge phone

yup, thats my exact points of thinking that Zl is the better phone, but I guess its gonna be like the TX, slower updates and stuff like that (its just like xperia T but they are treating it like a lesser phone)

Actually there's a screen protector on top of the shatterproof sheet..so there's 2 layers...Maybe they took off just the screen protector?It's hard to say...

Regarding freebies, for my preorder as I'm not ordering from Sony Center, I will only be receiving flip case and screen protector.. I asked Sony Center in QB, they say no preorder.. it seems our market is really really not looked into at all..

They informed me already, if the due date is already passed and the phone is still not here, I can collect back my deposit.. So I'll try to check with other Sony Center if they do have plans to give freebies.. However I still doubt they will give freebies.. Sony Mobile My and Sony Malaysia on FB didn't mention a tiny detail regarding sales on the phone, except the various not-helping-photos and the question how bad do we want the phone..
