I can't believe Sony can finally go head to head with HTC this year. I could care less for S4, yet another platiscky design phone.

With USB OTG, watching anime, movies is even easier....transferring very large files into a phone still takes a while though. Besides, how many times do we have to watch those that it deserves a space in our SDcard. A few favorites maybe but not anything more.

The ringing tone is something to consider. Not much of a problem for the voice and music as it is only an 8dB drop and it is loud enough as it is even if I lowered sown the volume to 75%. But the ringing tone is a whopping 16.4 dB drop from my Arc. I got this score from GSMarena. This might cause a lot of miss call if I am not in the same room with my phone.

QUOTE(ckchan @ Feb 23 2013, 01:35 PM) scary... yes. Most phones today are designed to be bendable because there will be people who put their phone in the back pocket so it can be sit on unless you're overweight.... but at least after bending it, the glass goes back to it's original shape. unlike aluminium, after bending it, it just stayed there as it is. |

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Feb 23 2013, 01:27 AM) that's because nobody expects the HTC to be perfect. it is all about expectations. they have a very bad run for their camera up until the one X. as for Sony a lot of people are wondering a lot of their camera when they are a major player with the α in the dslr market |

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Feb 23 2013, 09:50 PM) Oh ya!! I almost forgot another problem i had with my xperia arc.. yup I have this problem as well. I disabled space between gestures and it stopped bothering me as the words end up the same despite seeing the swipe in between.Hope its better in xperia Z... The problem is the touchscreen...If you press one spot on the screen then press another spot very quickly,it will be registered as a swipe..also,the screen will kind of like shake around even when your finger is touching the screen but didnt move...(I dont know how to explain this second problem.. Still, what i want to say is that my current smart phone is almost 2 years old and the touch screen is not very good compared to the iphone 4 which was released earlier than xperia arc..i can say that iphone touch screen is sooo smooth that it totally smoked xperia's touch screen...So i want to know whether xperia z faces this problem or not..how smooth will the touch screen be? |

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Feb 25 2013, 09:33 PM) One comment..!? what are the pros and cons are you talking about other than some biased reporting. is sharp edges really a con? I mean we don't have to be told about it right? the pics are seen before the reviews. it is either people can accept or don't. Read back a few post back and count yourself how many Sony fans bad mouth about other brand. Is this the way you want to attract other new potential buyer to like Sony brand..!? we all know Sony's view angle is not good but we accept it as long as direct view don't sucks. I agree some don't but again this is Sony's thread not a vs thread so why rub it in? what's the point for any debate? what's the problem if we said samsung amoled sucks because of its cold colors, unnatural. at least we don't go over to Samsung thread and complain...we have the ability to have preferences don't we? so that means you are granted the ability to not post as well if it pisses you off... ....besides....the phone is just out in some parts of Europe. so what gives? |

QUOTE According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Samsung’s dominance on the market for Android devices has begun to make Google executives uneasy. The latter reportedly worry that the Korean manufacturer is large enough to renegotiate its current arrangement with Google and eat into the search giant’s lucrative mobile-ad business. biting the hand that feeds you? good work Samsung.Samsung has received over 10% of the latter’s revenue in the past. The company has also signaled to Google that it might demand more going forward, as Google’s revenue from mobile apps such as Google Maps and YouTube is on the rise. During a Google event for executives last year, Andy Rubin, the head of Android hailed Samsung’s market success and mutually beneficial relationship with the search giant. He did however, also warn that the Korean company could pose a business threat should it pull too far ahead of its competitors. Samsung shipped almost 200 million Android devices more than its closest competitor on its way to about 40% share of the global smartphone market. According to Mr. Rubin, Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility is a form of insurance policy against manufacturers who gain too much power over the Android ecosystem. Motorola is widely expected to release an Android powerhouse this year, which will likely be dubbed the X Phone. In a nutshell, the relationship between Google and Samsung is likely going to get more complicated in the near future. Representatives from both companies are yet to officially comment on the matter. |

this is what we heard from Google and nothing of such from Samsung. but still to get an idea we can see how far Nokia falls without a viable OS. if Samsung ditched Android, iOS will leads for a while but Samsung is one permanent fatality unless they believes Bada would work.

QUOTE(refnulf @ Feb 27 2013, 09:56 AM) Samsung is indeed the king of android devices at the moment, we all know that and they've come up with some very good devices. But having one company monopolise market share is always a bad thing, which is why companies like HTC, Sony, etc have to step up and provide phones that can compete against Samsung. Healthy competition benefits the consumers, and Google too! The thing is HTC was there but they lost it. Sony well they was never there. I don't count X10 as being there. All phones after that was lower spec. This is the real deal. The good thing with Sony though is they have a potentially unlimited feel good design.Sony took a while to catch up. I wonder why they are that slow. I hope Sony don't score another Russian Roulette like they did with their Xperia S though. |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Feb 27 2013, 04:01 PM) I went to Sony Center in 1 Utama. The staff said initially they heard of the price as 2300, the latest information they received is that the device will cost about 2500. It is unbelievable. Singapore's price started at $988 from pre-launch to $884 now but ours shoot up instead? |

QUOTE(refnulf @ Feb 27 2013, 04:25 PM) If it's RM2299, still consider acceptable for me. If it's RM2499, then I won't get it. If it's RM1999, then pretty good price Ringing tone too! Especially alarm.. No idea what's going to happen with the price. Those that get it from Singapore, please test the speakers and the call quality. Most important so far! |
