QUOTE(rattan @ Apr 29 2013, 11:42 AM) Means that I have no choice but to pull the network cable all the way from living room to my room. Can I use my existing ADSL modem as a hub? Because I might wanna build a NAS drive later.

Hence now u wanna pull the wire from your router in your room to the living hall for IPTV? How about homeplugs? This post has been edited by andrew9292: Apr 29 2013, 09:08 PM

Anyone knows what's wrong with Unifi lately? I used to be able to use wifi at home downstairs and in my room but lately I've been having interruption every few seconds or minutes. The thing is the wifi signal is still strong...I can use it smoothly if I sit very near to the router and modem but once I move further it disconnects again and again. I never have this problem before!

QUOTE(harryfoo @ Apr 29 2013, 09:28 PM) I haven't install Unifi yet, I'm doing planning. Homeplug is quite expensive for me. I see, hmm in that case the wires should be substancially cheaper... I bought a flat 10m ethernet cat5e cable for RM20++ if not mistaken. More expensive than the round type but better looking la since running under the door to my router ouside the room. Found no performance difference too. Hence unless u need more than 50m, it will still be cheaper than those high quality homeplug Since you might wanna have a NAS, not clear on how you are going to implement it but it's better to have a wired connection to the NAS or the Host if you're running it from a PC. Especially if you are gonna mass download/upload directly to/from the NAS to prevent bottlenecks on the wireless clients. Especially if you are using TM's stock router... As for IPTV from BTU, also depends on which BTU TM provides you, some BTU allows reconfiguration for more flexibility. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1993913/+160http://klseet.comThis post has been edited by andrew9292: Apr 29 2013, 10:33 PM

I never have this problem before! Is it happening at all devices or only a particular device? Can you run a software like InSSIDer(PC/Mac) or Wifi Analyzer (Android/iOS) to check if there is interfering channels and reconfig if necessary?

If your ADSL router can only use the telephone socket RJ-45 as it's WAN input then high probability that it will not work... If your ADSL router can be configured to use a LAN Port / has a LAN Port for WAN input, and it can be set to recieve WAN as DHCP or Static IP Client other than the standard PPPoE, then it's possible... After all your switch needs to be connected by ethernet cable right? Same goes with the ADSL router, if it can only use 'telephone socket' as it's input, then it's not possible. As long as you only carry network data and not (IPTV data + network data), normal switch will work. Get gigabit switch if your NAS is the high performance type that can do read/write at more than 20MB/s This post has been edited by yushin: Apr 30 2013, 10:45 AM
