ASUS VivoBook S400CA-UH51
Toshiba Satellite U845T-S4165

latter one is slightly faster, lighter, and pricier.

latter one have to wait, how about the customer service/warranty/quality?
might keep the laptop on for long hours.

How to compare a notebook that's not even here yet ? laugh.gif

Asus tops in terms of lousiness when it comes to warranty... Toshiba's services are definitely better but the waiting time for repairs should be more or less the same as the other brands that do not offer on-site support.

Current Toshiba units have very shallow keyboard keys and will make users experience aches after prolong usage..
Their keyboards can sink as well... not really good I would say...
I wouldn't choose both models hmm.gif

Normally I'll look around for one myself but since I'm not in Malaysia anymore and my sense of pricing is skewed, I'm asking for help on behalf of my friend. tongue.gif

1. Acer, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony
2. Strictly under RM2k.
3. University student standard (assignments, research, light gaming)
4. 14"

yes the Y400 has overheating problems as it is a 14" model because the spaces in laptops are narrow so they dont have much cooling area for the hot air to flow. the Y500 however is way more cooler a bit as it has some spaces in the internal. do you prefer Core i7 processor over Core i5 processor? if you dont, the ASUS N56VZ is also a better choice as within 3k budget, you get Core i5 and Nvidia GT650M, or the new Acer Aspire V3 with IPS display, Core i7 and Nvidia GT730M.

But in aspect for gaming, lenovo win isnt? I prefer more to the fps performance instead of processer... Isn't asus N56VZ better than lenovo Y400...? I heard asus nowadays have bad service.

yes it is better in terms of cooling. about ASUS after sales service, yes it is bad. however, at notebookcheck reviews, the GT730M is about on par with the GT650M.

The thing with 11-13" laptop models is that they are either cheap with lousy spec or expensive, hardly any middle ground like RM2k laugh.gif

Anyway, your sis don't need powerful CPU or GPU.
Don't go for NetBook with Intel Atom or AMD E series CPU though (despite the very good battery performance), these could be slightly under-powered dealing with big Excel files or fancy PowerPoint slides.

Vostro 3360, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM2009[1.67kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB; colors: red/silver/bronze
