Consumer GPUs will work, especially with GPGPU found in Nvidia's CUDA cores. However, they won't be as efficient or as effective as dedicated workstation GPUs. Engineer? Solidwork - need GPU, but seems to prefer professional GPU (like those Quadro, FirePro thingy)
