Should not be more than 5 devices connected to it at the same time (LAN + WiFi). I place it at the 1st floor of my house.

There firmware rescue only available for certain models. For model RT-AC1300UHP only have firmware update. There is no utilities for downloading.

I have just bought AC1300. The firmware version is 3.0.0.4.380_7485

Notice there is an update version 3.0.0.4.380.8119 released on 30 October 2017. Should we update it? Currently I'm trying to do the setup but it shows disconnected at the internet status. After I've done set up it says incorrect username and password. I've checked many times and reset the router. The unifi username and password are correct. But it still doesn't work. Is it related to the new firmware update? Or other steps which I could have missed out?

Hi, I've been noticing lately that my Asus rt ac68u doesn't seem to restart properly during schedule restart, noticed that device won't be able to connect to the router and can't even access the internet. Turning off and on brings the router back to its normal state

Hi all,

I am currently using RT-AC55UHP on Unifi, and my brother give me his 3 month old DSL-AC52U.
I can't seems to find any major difference in the functionality besides DSL-AC52U has 4 antennas.

Is it recommend to swap out my RT-AC55UHP to this 4 antennas DSL-AC52U?
Will I be losing any good functions, or gain something?

Thanks in advanced.

The major difference is that one is a router (Yours, meant for a Unifi config) and the other is a modem-router (his, ideally for a config like Streamyx). So while you could swap and use either one with Unifi, as standalone devices, the AC55UHP is better than the DSL-AC52U. Plus, It's a faster router, you also get SmartQoS, 2 USB ports (one of which is 3.0) and according to the Asus website, the RT-AC55UHP should serve a larger home better. Alternatively, if you've got a large home with dead/extremely weak wifi spots, then you could use both together for strong signals all over the house.

Thank you voncrane, for the detailed explanation. This really helped me better understanding on both of these models.

Looks like I have no reason to swap the router at this time, but start to do my research on setting up the other one as "repeater", I don't have a large house, but do have blind spot in some bedroom.

Thank you again, voncrane for your reply. smile.gif

wan to ask RT-AC1300UHP user here, is there any known issue?
Looks good on the paper, not sure if i wan to give it another try. Any user can give some feedback?

The thing is Asus router always looks good on the paper with spec and all. I have 2 bad experience with Asus, firstly is RT-N12HP which the WIFI signal drop badly whenever there is rain and sometime random. Mind is just signal drop (where 2nd floor of my house totally no access), not totally disconnected, when i stand infront of the router, it working fine, i walk away a little the signal is gone, however, restart the router fix it. So i been set schedule on the router to restart everyday just for this shit.

Another is more recently at my office is RT-N14UHP, my office just extended from just beside (just size of a shop lot), im sitting way too far from my office wireless router so i suggested that model to my company. The problem is that it can't stay connected for more than 2 days as extender, always keep disconnected from my main router. (Direct wifi conect to wireless router (RT-AC68U) no problem, connect wifi via extender have no internet). SOmetime it can go no problem for a day, but for sure 2nd day will disconnect again, after the 1st time DC, it will repeatedly happen several time through the day before stop.

Hi kinggerrard,

May I ask, are you able to connect to the ISP now? If no, can you provide me the System Log from the router and the Setting File too. You can PM me the file.

Thank you

Between this two model, which is better choice. Using my Huawei 4G LTE USB dongle for internet while waiting for ages for Unifi to come over.

ASUS RT-AC58U & ASUS RT-AC1300UHP

To my understanding both unit is specified the same exception of the AC1300UHP have double the RAM to 256MB. What kind of improvement shall I experience with the double quantity of RAM? Cause both have Quad Core A7 processor, 5dbi high gain antenna. I'm puzzled which is value for money and better wifi experience.

Thanks

Hi jimmylim85,

Router are like PC too, they have their own CPU, RAM and flash. The higher the RAM the better the router perform.

https://www.flashrouters.com/blog/2012/05/2...ry-on-a-router/

That't why you can see there is more and more higher end router in the market now.

Thank you

I am using AC58U. Speeds especially the 5Ghz is fantastic almost double when compared to RT-12N.

Had issue 1 month after purchase - it suddenly stopped working and have to update firmware to get it back to work (so for user that have zero knowledge on how to access to the router for maintenance will be an issue).

Anyway still dealing with 1 issue - frequent drop of wifi signals - 3 or 4 times within 4 hrs where your wifi connections dont even appear on the list of wifi available for connection - they don't last long just around 10 - 20 seconds and the wifi connection will resumed automatically but the interruptions could sometimes be irritating especially if you are in the mid of using the internet connections for works.

Tried to set the bandwidth fixed at 40 for my 2Ghz (instead of 20/40) and 80 for my 5Ghz (instead of 20/40/80) the problem still persist but improved in the sense instead of 3 or 4 times now may be 2 - 3 times every 4 -5 hrs.

Hope any Asus technical support in this discussion forum can advise a solution.

Yes. Able to connect to the ISP now.. This router needs the user to specify the type of ISP then only able to connect. It's all set now and running awesomely as expected! rclxm9.gif

By the way, there is a latest firmware for AC1300, do you recommend to update the firmware?
