Hi, I was wondering if someone could point me to the right direction. I recently bought Asus RT-N12HP as an upgrade from my default unifi router, as my 2nd floor of the house getting poor reception.

As finish set all the setting needed, my wired connection seems fine, but the wifi works like for the 1st 1 minute then when gila-gila. After that 1 minute, there is no internet connection even the wifi is connected, after several minute of trying, I cant even connect to the wifi (all password are correctly typed), It keep telling me cant connect to the wifi, even its in 5 bars.

I have tried connect using my ipad2, notebook with its default wifi and with an extra USB wifi. All in same result.
Mostly getting "Windows can't connect to my "wifi SSID"", sometime even can connect to my wifi, I'm getting 0 internet access or limited connectivity. I also tried troubleshoot button on the wifi icon. Same result.

Is it my setting problem? or the item is manufactured defect?
I didn't touch much of the settings, mainly all in their default setting.
When I throw back in the TM unifi router, everything works fine.

- I have tried various "Authentication Method" aka security level, even Open, it still same result.
- I also in 2-10meter range only from the router

*Within the 1st 1 minute wifi connectivity I was able to surf internet, I tried the download speed, it only took up 10% of my unifi 10mb package.. the range between the pc and the router is just 1m apart....

Is your Unifi router still turn on and connected to the modem? I use to have this issue and it seems that there is a conflict with my Maxis router WiFi for some reason. It is already disabled, but my devices can still locate it (WTF). Try to turn it off as a test, my WiFi have not intermittently broke anymore.

By the way, to restart your WiFi connection you need to access the router, change the wifi name, and then change it back. Works for me everytime, but I get pissed off after multiple wifi restart every day.
*
only 1 router on at the same time. beside "restart my wifi connection", I even tried hard reset several times.

Yesterday after test the reset IP method, after about 30min, the wifi works normally again, I need to tried out see what happen, include update the firmware, I'm a little worried to update the firmware since I bought it less than a week. I don't believe Asus product so lauya. If someone could point me what I'm doing wrong that will be great. I'm maybe pro in PC hardware, but im just a noob in networking.

[EDIT] I guess I wont be updating my firmware since it was the latest version

Hi Edison83,

You can use the software below to scan your surrounding and use the one that is less people use. Or you can try fix it at 6 to test.

I have finally tracking the S.O.B that been causing the problem.
I notify you just for the future record.

The main cause is WFTPairing.exe which a software use by new Canon camera to wirelessly upload the picture from the camera to the computer using wifi connection. If the software were to launch during startup, it will disable all wifi within the connected PC router. By close the program WFTpairing.exe the whole wifi immediate usable again. So whoever owned a new Canon camera and transfer picture wirelessly may faced this problem in the future. I'm not sure if its just Asus Router or it apply to all router when you changed router.

As for the WFTPairing.exe fix

"Well, I tried running the WFTPairing as admin, and it started working. So if you just check "Add WFT Pairing to startup folder" will not work in Windows-8 as it runs under regular access."

source of fix : http://forums.usa.canon.com/t5/EOS/WFTPair...ws-8/td-p/15189
*Although he said later that it didn't work, mine still working after a few restart.

now everything rise and shine. Thanks to everyone tried to help me biggrin.gif
On the other note, how do I boost the wifi signal? is by Tx power adjustment? by default it 80mW so I increase it more? please advice.

BTW, AsusMY,

I had both RT-N12HP and RT-N14UHP. I wonder if it is necessary to increase the antenna power gain from the default 80? Does it really increase the range if you increase the power?
*
I like to know that as well. On the side note, does increasing the mW also increase our health risk?

Dear ASUSmy, after a month solving the wifi auto disconnect issue, now has return, but this time it wasn't cause by my pc's software anymore.

The wifi is like suka suka DC, mind that the wired connection is always fine. RT-N12HP is the model I purchase. I usually use wired for my main PC, but recently the damn haze so heavy, I moved my PC to my room. Now I'm using wifi connectivity. The case always happen during early morning, and after I come back from work where I I didn't use the internet after some time. Is like when I idle no use the internet too long, it auto disconnect.

I already try the inssider and use the channel that the most less used on my area between 1,6,and 11. Is there any solution? Please forward this issue to your QC dept. Since LamOfGod here also kena, I don't think the problem just apply to me.

I bought Asus RT-N12HP router back in 2014, wired connection works flawlessly, however I cant say the same on my wifi connection. Back then all I know it was intermittent, once it got problem it will stay that way until I restart the router. I didn't know much about networking back then, so I didn't bring back to the shop for warranty claim coz I don't really know how to explain it to the staff, since the problem doesn't happen right away. Since I got spare AP lying around, I just plug in into the LAN and use its WIFI instead.

Until recently, I bought a smart TV, which I can use my ipad to control the TV. I cant do that via using the AP, it only works if I directly use the Asus Router's wifi directly. So it actually force me to use back the Asus's WiFi. At the morning, I set everything up, everything is running fine up till night, the next morning I cant get my devices connect to the internet. So I check the signal, and I got this (picture below) same result from INSSIDER as well.

Attached Image

The green ones are my ASUS RT-N12HP Router wifi (Where is my baby?), the red ones (same SSID) are my repeater.

During morning through the evening, I tested the signal, it was stable (without dropping to 100dBm = total disconnect)

2 years ago was using factory default firmware, today I decided to upgrade to the latest firmware and still getting same result. (Latest firmware 3.0.0.4.378.9443)

Can anyone advice me? Anything I did wrong? I set my wireless pretty straight forward, I didn't mess with something I didn't know. Do it still under warranty after that long? I may already lost the receipt, can I directly claim via Asus Malaysia instead?

[UPDATE] I checked amazon giving 3 years warranty, was it same in Malaysia? please advice...

Hi Edison83,

Yes, ASUS provide 3 years warranty for our networking products.

Regarding the WiFi not stable problem, have you tried to set the WiFi channel at the WiFi->General->Control Channel?

By using the same apps, I believe you can scan and set the channel that is less people use.

If still cannot, can you try do a factory reset on the router and redo the setting.

Thank you
*
I did change the channel before, still same.

I will try again as for factory reset, but I believe it will be just the same.

If so, can I claim warranty without receipt? and where can I do that?

wan to ask RT-AC1300UHP user here, is there any known issue?
Looks good on the paper, not sure if i wan to give it another try. Any user can give some feedback?

The thing is Asus router always looks good on the paper with spec and all. I have 2 bad experience with Asus, firstly is RT-N12HP which the WIFI signal drop badly whenever there is rain and sometime random. Mind is just signal drop (where 2nd floor of my house totally no access), not totally disconnected, when i stand infront of the router, it working fine, i walk away a little the signal is gone, however, restart the router fix it. So i been set schedule on the router to restart everyday just for this shit.

Another is more recently at my office is RT-N14UHP, my office just extended from just beside (just size of a shop lot), im sitting way too far from my office wireless router so i suggested that model to my company. The problem is that it can't stay connected for more than 2 days as extender, always keep disconnected from my main router. (Direct wifi conect to wireless router (RT-AC68U) no problem, connect wifi via extender have no internet). SOmetime it can go no problem for a day, but for sure 2nd day will disconnect again, after the 1st time DC, it will repeatedly happen several time through the day before stop.
