I am using AC58U. Speeds especially the 5Ghz is fantastic almost double when compared to RT-12N.

Had issue 1 month after purchase - it suddenly stopped working and have to update firmware to get it back to work (so for user that have zero knowledge on how to access to the router for maintenance will be an issue).

Anyway still dealing with 1 issue - frequent drop of wifi signals - 3 or 4 times within 4 hrs where your wifi connections dont even appear on the list of wifi available for connection - they don't last long just around 10 - 20 seconds and the wifi connection will resumed automatically but the interruptions could sometimes be irritating especially if you are in the mid of using the internet connections for works.

Tried to set the bandwidth fixed at 40 for my 2Ghz (instead of 20/40) and 80 for my 5Ghz (instead of 20/40/80) the problem still persist but improved in the sense instead of 3 or 4 times now may be 2 - 3 times every 4 -5  hrs.

Hope any Asus technical support in this discussion forum can advise a solution.

Hi nikobellic,

May I know is the WiFi disconnection apply to all your WiFi device?

Have you try to set the channel for the WiFi?(at Wireless->Control Channel).

Thank you.

Yes. Able to connect to the ISP now.. This router needs the user to specify the type of ISP then only able to connect. It's all set now and running awesomely as expected!  rclxm9.gif

By the way, there is a latest firmware for AC1300, do you recommend to update the firmware?

Hi kinggerrard,

Updating the firmware sometime fixed bug or add new features in to the router. For me I usually will update it when got new firmware.

Thank you

Hi,

I have a ASUS BRT-AC828.

1st WAN, I connected using Vlan (Port 5-8) to Unifi.

How can I add second unifi account to WAN2? Standard PPPOE setting is not working.

Thanks.

Dear AsusMy,

Is it true that Asus RT-AC58U and Asus RT-AC1300UHP is the same specification and product? Just that AC1300UHP but up the ram to 256MB? How many devices connected to a frequency that might bottleneck the 128MB ram?

Hi chulk,

May I know what is your current firmware version? If the version is older than RT-AC55UHP_3.0.0.4_380_7378, try download the firmware below and try again.

Hi mahmudh,

For the DUAL WAN function, our router only able to support one VLAN connection(Primary WAN). The secondary WAN must can be Automatic IP, PPPoE without VLAN(TIME or Streamyx) or USB modem.

If you really want the DUAL WAN function with 2 UNIFI line, the second line you must remain the router and pull a LAN cable to WAN port 2 as Secondary WAN(Automatic IP).

Thank you

Hi jimmylim85,

The spec are almost the same. The RT-AC1300UHP will have 2 more operation mode, range extender and media bridge mode.

And under average to heavy usage, the RT-AC1300UHP can up to around 30 devices. While the RT-AC58U is around 20 devices(This all depend on the usage and the environment).

Thank you

I tried to download some big files twice, and twice it hang after few hours. Can't log in to the modem router until i restart it.

This morning I elevate the modem by putting something under the modem, use Chrome instead of Internet Download Manager to download, so far haven't hang yet.

Any suggestion ?

7 handphones 1 Smart TV 4 PC. Is the AC58U enough?

Does RT-AC58U have High Gain antenna and beam forming technology? How about signal coverage and strong signal, are both model share the same spec or AC1300UHP have better hardware?

Thanks

is the coverage of AC68U better than N66U?

Currently i have the N66U . recently just upgrade to Unifi. Change my placement of router to the living room. and up stairs bedroom suffer from low signal strength.

Is upgrading to AC68U be any beneficial over the N66U in terms of coverage?

Please advice.

If you are looking for a marginal upgrade, RT-AC68U could do the job. If you are looking for significant upgrade, RT-AC68U doesn't made the cut. You would need a mesh networking system or multiple access point.

Hi chulk,

Thanks for the video, can you try do another factory reset on the router but this time using this combination.

Power off the router->press the WPS button and power on back the router(keep pressing the WPS button)->release the WPS button when you saw the power LED light start blinking very fast.

This will factory reset the router, try redo the setup again.

Is the second USB port also will have this problem too?
