Turn off smart connect.

ASUS version of band steering but don't work very well with older devices.

You may want to try firmware Version 3.0.0.4.384.45717, I feel this firmware give a higher performance and more stable.

I am already on the latest firmware for both ac86u. Smart connect is off.

You should try using a USB wifi adapter to test and see if that is still happening. If it is, it could be a problem with interference or congestion on the 2.4GHz network in your area. If it is not, your laptop wifi adapter is the issue.

2.4Ghz, even if its working properly, can only get you 20-40Mbps.

You may want to fix the channel and bandwidth set to auto (instead of 40Mhz) , and try again.

If your old laptop is not HP or lenovo, just upgrade to dual band wifi card, costs less than RM$15, but a whole world of difference, 5Ghz N can get you > 80Mbps. Better latency too.

I am currently running on RT-AC68U and upgraded my Unifi to 300mbps.

Can i know what's the recommended router to support aimesh at a thin / low budget? dont feel like spending another 700 bucks on RT-AC68u.

appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks

Make sure to downgrade your main router and AiMesh node

81049 is unstable on AiMesh.

Good day Asus Malaysia & all friendly LYN member smile.gif

I've been using ASUS RT-AC68U for few months and it's been working perfectly. But just yesterday i noticed the LAN speed (connected to my PC) suddenly capped at 100mbps max.

*Fyi, i subscribed to UniFi 500mbps, and all the while i'm getting full speed (500mbps) on my PC with Ethernet connection.

Below are the things that i found :

1. At first i noticed my Ethernet Status speed is getting 100.0 Mbps, so i thought it's caused by the Speed & Duplex set to 100mbps capping. (it's configured with Auto Negotiation.)

user posted image user posted image

2. I checked my Ethernet Ports status on Asus router configuration, all the LAN port are getting 100 Mbps (which i believe Speed & Duplex is not the root cause).

Is the status supposed to be like this? (I can't recall the speed on all port previously but i think it should be 1Gbps? Please correct me if i'm wrong)

user posted image

3. Here's my router firmware version :

user posted image

Few other troubleshooting steps I've done :

a. Change the Speed & Duplex from 100 mbps to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex (not working)
b. Turn on Adaptive QoS and set the download speed to 500mbps (not working)
c. Turn on Jumbo Frame from LAN - Switch control (not working)
*All the things above I've never done before, my router and ethernet properties are in stock settings (I did not change anything previously).

Additional information :

a. I'm able to get the expected speed with WiFi 5ghz speed test on my phone (close to router).
b. 3 of my LAN port are connected to :
- LAN 1 > My PC (which should get 500mbps)
- LAN 2 > My another Asus Router (serve as an Access Point)
- LAN 3 > My CCTV DVR
- LAN 4 > Empty
c. All the cable are CAT6

Hope i posted in the right place. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated ! notworthy.gif

Did you try replacing the LAN cable from the router to your PC?

Hi ASUS team

Recently I bought RT-N14UHP from my friend to replace my Maxis Home Fibre router. I did everything as instructed in the router set-up and config guide. I already reset the router. And I had logon to ASUS Router via 192.168.1.1 and key in my ISP account username and password.

After I have selected "Special Requirement from ISP" and click Next, there is a 5 seconds loading and sudden window prompt "asus-router says "connection timed out", I wonder what's the problem as previously I dont have any issue with my Maxis Fibre internet connection

Hope you can help me. cry.gif
