a bit of update on other members mentioning that they had trouble paying using Amex in Paypal, last saturday i made a purchase at Groupon SG and managed to pay using Amex through Paypal. No issues at all and SMS came in within a minute after the purchase

No issues for me as well, been paying quite a lot using PayPal linked AmEx.

i live outside of malaysia, so going to Maybank is not an option for me.

Don't worry the RM50 will be charged to your Maybankard 2 Visa/MasterCard in the 3rd statement

Same goes to me. Didn't received any e-statement for the Feb thru email.

I also prefer they sent e-statement to my email because it need password to access the statement rather than the statement download from M2U as it doesn't lock the statement.

Login to M2U>statement>request for e-statement sent to your email.

somebody use my amex for online transaction last midnight...i didnt realise the sms since i was sleeping until this morning.
two sms received, rm339 at strawberrynet.com and rm249 at facebook ireland...called cs and cancelled the card. she ask to wait for statement or m2u record before filing for dispute...this is just my bad day...apparently, according to the cs, the are a few more transaction queuing to be approved!! Amex is really not safe...visa and mc at least got the pin no send to hp before completing transaction..

PayPal can accept Amex already? Good! Always had problems trying to register it.

I don't know, recently there are too many users reported that they can't use it with PayPal.
I registered mine not long after I got my card in early 2011.

But transaction quoted in MYR is not allowed, so far I have tried USD, Euro, GBP and SGD, they worked.

Sorry to hear that, and we have one common transaction (Facebook Ireland). AMEX is really insecure, have to be really careful next time.

I'm sure we're all careful...but yet, there are just too many unwanted amex transaction happening. i think there's nothing we can do besides cancelling and not using amex.

well only big problem i see is the fraud charges that cant be stop on time,we will have to pay 1st when it appears in statement before the reversal kicks in

These transacations are done by hackers with CC generators + CVV generators.
It's not the cardholder not being careful
We are in Malaysia, even exposing the CVV code to the cashiers... how do you explain Facebook Ireland have your details ?

Can we disable ALL Internet transactions with Maybankard AMEX ???

It's not exactly new. I've used my AMEX at Paypal many times over the years back before MBB2 exist. If you still have problem registering your AMEX, just a simple call to MBB credit card centre will solve this.


For some banks such as Citibank, you can file a dispute as soon the charges (fraud, double charged etc.) appear in your online transaction history and they will reverse the charges as soon as they receive your dispute form. But as usual, there is a penalty if you wrongly file a dispute.

Just to share my AMEX fraud experience.

Close to midnight, received a few SMSes relating to USD transactions from Karmaloop.
Next day, called MBB CS and they cancelled my card.
A week later, received my new card. Written confirmation of cancellation and attached dispute form arrived in the post at about the same time.

2 weeks after receiving new card, I got my statement and noticed an unauthorized transaction from MyUS.com
Called MBB CS - they said that this transaction was done on the old card and asked me to fill in and send the dispute form to them.
CS also said that bill payment need not include the disputed amount.

why AMEX dont want to implement 3D secure payment method similar with VISA and mastercard ?

Guys, excuse me if this have been answered before, I just want quick info:

1. Application for gold/platinum status is it based on nett pay (monthly salary after deductions of epf,tax) or pay before deductions? I applied for platinum but got gold instead. My salary before deductions is exceeding 60k per annum but if after deductions, my salary is below 60k per annum.

2. Do we need to pay extra charge for upgrade to platinum if we are qualified for platinum in the future?
