QUOTE(BRY7 @ Dec 28 2012, 12:02 AM)
say you spend 10k a month on the CC, by placing that amount in MSA for 20 days it will only earn you around RM12.
if you can afford to spend 10k a month, what is RM12 to be honest?
*
That is why they are richer... RM12 is not a lot but there is this saying that lama-lama jadi bukit biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Dec 28 2012, 09:45 AM)
And with up to 30 interest free and additional 20 days after statement date, your RM10K spending to earn the RM12 deposited into a interest bearing account may ballooned up to RM25 or more and take care of your concern of GST RM25 for each supp which works out to be about RM2 per month/card  laugh.gif

RM12 is enough to get me a FREE pack Marlboro Lights and a FREE lighter too biggrin.gif

Exactly!

Speaking of this M2U Savers Account, this is easily the best savings account in town with no restriction on how many withdrawal you can make per month. We actually have a dedicated Maybank2u Saver Account thread that was created last year.

Maybank was heavily promoting this account on Maybank2u just a couple of months ago and I opened mine right after it was launched. Been using this account for more than a year now and I am happy to see all the interest credited into my account every month thumbup.gif

Why not Standard Chartered JustOne Account? 2% + free IBG unlimited
*
Standard Chartered Personal JustOne Account will no longer give 2% interest anymore starting next month. The interest for JustOne Personal Savings Account has been revised down to 0.25%. Not too sure about the bonus interest though. Anyway, anything regarding savings account, please go to the dedicated M2U or the savings account thread ( refer to Gen-X's post).

i just made a payment using Amex card with AUD600. Is it worth to do so or i should use Mastercard instead?
*
Depends, if you have not used up your weekend 5% cash back limit and your transaction is captured by the system today (Saturday) and not as Friday, then MBB2 AMEX is a better choice. Otherwise, MBB MasterCard is definitely cheaper.

Not really, not for TWD and KRW at least. From my own experience, the final exchange rate from MBB2 VISA is always lower than money changer thumbup.gif

you better open both sites and do the comparison. the rate via normal site was lower even after 7% discount. OT.

I believe you are the second or third person to have discovered this. May I know which hotel you were looking to book when you found this price difference ? I've booked Pullman Bangkok King Power through Agoda three times already and so far have not experienced similar issue. So I always booked through the website that gives me 7% discount smile.gif

*
Are you sure ? Because this is not exactly a new thing and many of us have gone through this before and a simple call to Maybank, then you will be able to add your AMEX into Paypal. This is because Maybank blocks AMEX for all Paypal related transaction until you give them a call. However, usually you only have to call them once and you'll be able to use your AMEX on Paypal without having to call them again next time,

Most likely an error message (insufficient fund) will pop out.

quick q..

for those who used Agoda previously to book overseas hotel with their MBB card, is it processed as a local transaction or a foreign one (i.e. the country code in the statement is "MY" or others)?
*
I have always used my HSBC credit card whenever i make a booking at Agoda. I have paid in both USD as well as MYR. So far the country code that appears in my credit card statement is always GB, regardless my card was charged in USD or MYR.

QUOTE(virgoguy @ Feb 21 2013, 11:57 AM)
does Maybank agoda still gives 6% for hotel booking?
*
Yes. They still do. It is valid for bookings made between 1 Jan 2013 to 31 Mar 2013 only and the applicable discount will only apply to bookings made from the Maybank Agoda landing page. If you go directly to Agoda page (straight away going to www.agoda.com), no discount will be given.

QUOTE(virgoguy @ Feb 21 2013, 11:57 AM)
I've been comparing http://www.agoda.com.my/maybank with hotelscombined

seem like agoda more exp compare to hotelscombined

Even with rough calculation(included the 6% discount) the total charges still few ringgit more than hotelscombined
*
hotelscombined doesn't provide hotel booking service. It is only a site to let you to compare the hotel prices from various hotel booking service websites such as Agoda, Hotelclub, Booking.com etc.

For Agoda and Booking.com, do note that the price you see doesn't include the service charge and government tax.

By the way, Agoda checkout system will automatically detect the billing currency of your credit card and you will be asked if you want to be billed in USD or MYR (for a MY issued credit card). Always choose USD as the billing currency as Agoda's exchange rate is super expensive!

Hi Miles

As you said that hotelscombined suppose only provide hotel rate compare. But the hotel rate going through from hotelscombined(redirect) to agoda site are still a lot cheaper than direct link from Maybank Agoda itself. isn't it suppose the other way round?  IF you check on the links below then you should get what I mean.

https://hkg.secure.agoda.com/b/ms-my/book.h...RYI8DQ8Q%3d%3d&  <-- direct from Maybank Agoda

https://hkg.secure.agoda.com/b/en-us/book.h...5PaAJXEA%3d%3d& <--- redirect from hotelscombined
*
The links above have expired. Mind to share which hotel you are looking to book, date etc. ? A few other people have said the same thing but i personally have never come across this (different price).

Any hotel or date all can do. The example I take is Carlton Hotel, Singapore
Try open 2 links, one from www.agoda.com.my/maybank and the other one www.hotelscombined.com you can see the different
*
I don't know why is it so. But anyway, to book through the Agoda Maybank landing page will still be cheaper. See below:

Agoda website accessed through hotelscombined.com
Attached Image

Maybank Agoda website
Attached Image

The one redirected from hotelscombined.com may appears cheaper at first, but it comes with absolutely no discount. However, if you were to book through Maybank Agoda website with your Maybankard VISA or MasterCard, the final price after factoring in the 6% discount is actually cheaper than hotelscombined. Do note that the price shown to you is a before discount price. The 6% discount will only be reflected after you have entered your Maybankard VISA/MC card number (see attachment 2).

QUOTE(zenquix @ Feb 21 2013, 02:46 PM)
http://www.agoda.com/maybank is for SG-issued cards. Just to highlight.
*
It is applicable for MY-issued Maybank credit cards too. Initially the webpage language is in Malay (www.agoda.com.my/maybank), but when i change the language to English, the webpage is refreshed to www.agoda.com/maybank. The .com.my is gone but discount is still applicable to MY-issued Maybank credit cards.

QUOTE(shortleg88 @ Feb 21 2013, 03:35 PM)
Since pana jie jie gave one of the options.

How about the following one when booking through websites like Agoda or foreign currency during weekdays?

1. Maybank2card Visa/Master - 1TP (0.5% CB) with 0.5% admin fee
2. Maybank2card Amex - 5TP (2.5% CB) with 2.5% admin fee

Both scenario also in return about the same right? so which one you will choose?
*
Gen-X and zenquix did a comparison quite sometime ago and one should only use the MBB2 AMEX on weekend, provided your haven't used up your weekend 5% cash back and you are sure the transaction date will fall on Saturday/Sunday. Otherwise, you should always use your MBB2 VISA/MC when it involves foreign currency.

p.p.s : damm...instead of ocbc, i shud use amex for 2.5%!!!

Did you choose to be billed in MYR ? Don't do that. Always choose to be billed in USD when booking through Agoda. Refer to my post in the foreign exchange thread.

I got my M2U with just AMEX but now the linking my mastercard is a problem....

I request my master to link to m2u from almost a month still not done, go to branch also kenot get done.....

some MBB staff say need to m2u account but some say can link to the same m2u.....

the cs whether at branch or call center is like as long as customer not urgent then they will the delay the request...

I called 3 to 4 times or more, still kenot get done.... vmad.gif  vmad.gif

It seems like you are facing the exact same problem as my mom.

My mom got her MBB2 AMEX + MBB2 MasterCard about two years ago and we went together to a nearby Maybank branch to apply PIN for both cards. I helped my mom to set up her M2U using her MBB2 AMEX, and then asked her to call Maybank call centre to have the MBB2 MasterCard linked to this MBB2 AMEX M2U account.

Despite numerous calls to Maybank call centre, they still couldn't get the job done. So we went to a Maybank branch that i frequent, hoping one the staff that helped me to link my MBB2 VISA to my MBB2 AMEX M2U several months ago can help my mom out.

However, for some unknown reason, he couldn't do it too. He was very puzzled as well as he was also very sure that it is possible to link two or more different credit cards under the same M2U login username without having to open a Maybank CASA. He then suggested that i apply for another M2U using this MBB2 MasterCard (i've done this before and i know this is possible). So for some reason, it couldn't be done either. I think even the PIN of the MBB2 MasterCard was rejected. Eventually we just gave up doh.gif

So right now, my mom only can check her MBB2 AMEX transaction log online. For the MBB2 MasterCard, she has to wait till she receives the printed statement every month wink.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 22 2013, 03:08 PM)
When I signed up for M2U 2 years ago at a MBB branch (after I got the Maybankard 2 Cards), I gave the person at the branch all my MBB credit cards numbers i.e. MBB 2 Visa, MBB 2 AMEX, MBB Petronas Plat and MBB MasterCard Plat and had the MBB 2 Visa assigned as the "main card" for the account. Upon signing up with temporary password, all my MBB cards were shown on the system. I cannot remember if my MBB VI was automatically linked to it after I got it or I had to request for it to be linked.

And last year when I opened a MBB Savings Account and got their debit card, I was told I had to sign up for another M2U account, and once again I gave them all my credit cards numbers at the branch so that the officer can assigned them to the new M2U account. Too bad my genxgenygenz.blogspot have been removed by google else I had an article about it.
*
I did the same too. When i received my MBB2 cards 2 years ago (gosh, time flies!!), i did not have any CASA with Maybank then. I applied for M2U using my MBB2 AMEX, and after successfully setting up my M2U, they helped me to link my MBB2 VISA to this M2U account. Don't know why they couldn't link my mom's MBB2 MasterCard to her M2U account (under MBB2 AMEX) hmm.gif

I got myself a Maybank savings account a few months later that same year and just like you, i had to set up another M2U login username. When it was all done, all my accounts including my credit cards automatically appear in that M2U account. They didn't have to manually link all my credit cards to my savings account's M2U biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 22 2013, 03:08 PM)
Good question... I am curious too. Agoda offices are located overseas from my previous bookings.

For local hotels, usually I just call them for the best rates.
*
I believe one still have to choose USD because Agoda seems to be using USD as the clearing currency for all their hotel bookings... i am not completely sure though.

Agoda offices are still located overseas, by the way. They have one office in Bangkok at Central World and it seems that all bookings from Southeast Asia is processed by their Bangkok office. But whenever they bill us, GB (Great Britain) always appears in our credit card bill.
