Hi guys, glad to know such a great community here. I'm new to PC building.

The PC I'm building is probably:
i3-10100
H510M-AC
DDR4 2666Mhz 8gb
256gb M.2 NVME

Looking for a decent PSU for office desktop with a budget of <RM170 (is it enough?).

Heard of a few recommendations in the earlier posts like: Cougar GX-S 450W, Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 500W.
But I can't seem to find any stock from suppliers across e-commerce or retailers.

Appreciate if the sifus here can point me to the right direction. Thank you so much!

The MWE Bronze v2 230V is also a good choice icon_idea.gif

There's not much decent budget units here unless you want low quality group regulated units icon_idea.gif

Hi guys, recently both my motherboard and gpu suddenly kong and I am afraid it might be caused by my psu dealing damage over time? Not sure how to check so just want to replace for a peace of mind.

My current setup is:
Intel i5-10400
Gigabyte H410M H V3
Klevv 2 x 8gb DDR4 2666Mhz
Sapphire Radeon R9 390
1 x SDD, 1 x HDD
All powered by SEASONIC M12 II 750 EVO.

Currently looking to replace to a new unit but with limited budget at around 200-300.. Is CM's MWE 650 Bronze V2 sufficient? Found at shopee for about RM229. Or is there any better alternative?

Thanks in advance!

I highly doubt your PSU will damage your PC over time icon_idea.gif

The M12II is an old unit but it's still mostly fine for low powered GPUs (probably up to a 3060) icon_idea.gif

But a R9 390 isn't exactly a power efficient card either so you might want to spend a bit more for a higher quality unit, see here:

I'd recommend increasing your budget to something in the line of the NZXT C650 or the Corsair RM650 icon_idea.gif

The MWE Bronze v2 isn't exactly an upgrade either over the Seasonic icon_idea.gif

Guess that's just bad luck then for both my mobo and gpu sweat.gif

I think i see you mentioning that the NZXT C650 shares the same platform as Seasonic or something? So I guess that should be good! Thanks for your input thumbup.gif

Something like the MSI A550BN/XPG Pylon 550W/Cooler Master MWE Bronze v2 should be sufficient icon_idea.gif
Optionally the Corsair CV650 is also a decent choice (note that the CV450/550 uses a different platform which is not suitable for PCs with discrete GPUs) icon_idea.gif

It's based on a Seasonic platform (the updated Focus Gold platform), and it should be a good pick for your hardware icon_idea.gif

Dear.taikos

I had a.pc with amd 5600x and 3080 on a Seasonic 850w platinum

https://seasonic.com/platinum-xp2-xp3 ; bought probably 5 yrs ago

Question : my PC randomly shutdown ... Sometimes when in Ms Teams and sometimes during gaming

I suspect it's PSU because it's shutdown instead reboot...

U guys think it's the PSU aging?

PSU don't really age like that sweat.gif

Might be a compatibility issue with the RTX3080 (Ampere cards are known for its high transient spikes, which can result in sudden shutdowns on certain PSUs, especially on Seasonic based units) icon_idea.gif

Did you use any PSU extension cables or custom cables? hmm.gif

You may try limiting the GPUs power limit first and see whether power limiting the GPU fixes the sudden shutdown issue hmm.gif

Probably best to keep your PSU right now as PCIe Gen 5 power requirements are still unclear icon_idea.gif

You can always buy an adapter for Gen 5 GPUs as your PSU is still a very high quality unit (one of the best in fact), just make sure that the adapter actually supports the power requirements of the GPU itself icon_idea.gif

Suddenly felt the existing PSU is failing soon. Last 2 days GPU suddenly drop below 200w and whole pclag like hell. Am using 3090. After restart then ntg. Juz wondering should i buy a spare PSU in this case ? I can go for the 1200w or 1000w is actually enough if lets say i upgrade 4080-4090 in future (if it's coming bangwall.gif )

Hi, siffu.
My old PC cant switch ON anymore.
I suspect the PSU is bad already.
Before this the PC always randomly shutdown and very hard to switch ON. Need to try several times only can Boot up again.
The PSU is Silverstone ST75F-P Silver. Very old this model. I think more than 20 years old already.
So, I do the voltage check I learn from this youtube video using cheap Multimeter I got. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr70VyoACPg
Then, I calculate the reading.
This is the result.

Is this bad? All of them is way more than +/- 5% tolerance. hmm.gif

Hi i have a quick question regarding NZXT c750 PSU.

when i bought the pc, vendor only given me 1 6 pin PCI-e sata power cable.
i bought extra from shoppee, when i plugged the cable in the PSU and to the HDD, i notice if i plug it in while pc is on, it trips the PSU (i.e. PC off's immediately)

if pc not boot up, when i plug device in, it trips the PSU and motherboard power will off.

after that i only noticed the pins in the male plug that goes into the PSU is different from the cable that came with the pc.
the NZXT PCI-e SATA cable has a RB78 code on it.

i cant seem to find any cable like this which has this code on shoppee

i just want to know if this means that i wont be able to get additional cables for my PSU? or if anyone can let me know where can i get buy the cables.

thanks

i always thought it's very common to have refurbished unit as replacement. it's also normally mentioned in the TnC of rma.

I know there is TnC there but i'm not sure it is common or not, based on my previous experience, i RMA my previous unit same model few years ago, they returned with a brand new sealed unit.
