Oh man, I have really no idea about these... I thought Haswell is dubbed as more power efficient. Sorry for the uninformative comments

Haswell aimed to conserve as much power as possible. This is great improvement for laptop or mobile devices since battery life always short.
Guess we just need to wait the Haswell release and see if got new type of power supply that is designed for it lol laugh.gif .
It will cause headache for people who target to upgrade their existing rig to new mobo + cpu if the power supply dont work.

Hi sifu. Im planning to customise a rig for my lil sister..

I want to know is FSP Hexa 400W reliable ? I'm from Sarawak thats why my choices for PSU is limited.

The specs would be roughly like this to keep the cost as low as possible.

Intel G2020
4GB value ram
Asrock H61
WD Blue 500GB
DvD writer

Is FSP Hexa 400W enough to power this ? No graphic card. . And if I do want to add, it should be HD7750 or HD7770 in the future. So is FSP Hexa 400W enough ?

Hi,

I need advice on which to decide out of these 2 PSUs:

1. Corsair GS700w 2013 edition
2. Zalman ZM700-GT 700w psu

Reason for purchase: a recent GPU upgrade to GTX650

This is my rig:
Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H + phenom II x2 555
Corsair Value 4GB ram
500GB HDD
Leadtek Geforce GTX650

My use of the PC normally video watching, music, surfing and of course gaming, not much but occasionally some heavy games. I don't intend to spend $$ on top of the line but I have budgeted +/-RM350.

Many thanks for the advice in advance

warmest regards

RM350? Seasonic G 550. icon_idea.gif
These two units aren't good when compared to the Seasonic unit. There's no need for a 700W PSU. A quality 550W can power it up nicely. brows.gif

Hi chocobo7779,

the cheapest I find is rm359+rm18 postage = rm377! That's nearly rm380 way above my budget! cry.gif

Can you recommend a similar spec psu that is within my budget?

sorry, had to ask.

Many thanks in advance

Not sure if lingloong still selling Seasonic G 550 at RM320+ or not, u can try pm him.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. I am now looking at the following 2 PSUs: -

1) SEASONIC S12 II 620W - 80Plus Bronze
vs
2) ENERMAX NAXN82+ 650W 80Plus Bronze

Not much price difference, very close in fact.

Would you say Seasonic S 12II 620W would be the right pick?

many thanks

as mentioned, why not going for seasonic G 550? GOLD rated PSU? why skipped it wink.gif

yes in fact lingloong do sell it at RM320 (shipping RM12) my location at Machang, Kelantan.

I just bought it last week, and received it today. Now up and running in prep for GTX 660 TI/ HD7950 by end of June wink.gif

True, I agree. Problem is i have very limited Budget. I. had checked lingloong store, he doesn't carry the g550. I can only find another seller for rm359+18= rm377, too much for me. though i really like g550w. So i am going for the s12II 620w instead.

thanks smile.gif

BTW, how big is the difference between the 2 PSUs?

Seasonic G 550w vs S12II 620w

Is the price difference of +/-RM70 (@Lelong Quotes - g550 @rm377 - s12ii620 @rm305) worth it? Sorry, I am afraid my knowledge of PSUs is really limited. Your input is truly appreciated,

thanks in advance

I am currently using Corsair AX850, it seem to have coil whine sometime under full load. Before this I did some research if 850w would be enough, the opinion vary. Some say it will be enough and some recommend at least 1000w just to be safe. I know since the PSU is over 1 year old, it have possibly deteriorate 10%.

I did some stress test, the rig seem to be running fine in Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light max setting. I ran some benchmark, Resident Evil 6 benchmark, Unigine Heaven and Valley. They work perfectly without driver crash but when I attempt to run 3dMark Fire Strike Extreme, it just totally crash after about 20 secs, black screen appear and I have to restart pc. I am not sure if it's an issue with sLi, the latest Nvidia beta driver or my card just can't just draw enough power to run the benchmark.

What do you guys think? I am afraid that even though the PSU is not giving any problem now, it might just fail all in sudden and maybe even damage my hardware.

Some of the PSU I have in consideration, budget around 1.1k.
Corsair AX1200i
Seasonic P-1000
Seasonic X-1250

Current rig
i7-3770k @ 4.2ghz (Keeping it there for now as I am afraid going further will push the PSU too far)
GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 (2 x 8pin CPU power plugs, but only 1 is required to be used so I just plug one in)
GTX Titan sLi @ 1163MHz/1.21v (Default Titan pulls about 250w, I would assume with my overclock its pulling a maximum of 300w each)
D5 Vario pump @ maximum speed (Should be 37W max)
4 x 140MM Bitfenix Spectre Pro non LED & 2 x 120MM Bitfenix Spectre Pro non LED plugged in 30-watt fan controller on NZXT Phantom 630 (So I am guessing they would only draw 30w max?)

Seasonic G 550 (80+ Gold efficiency, possibly better electrical components, semi-modular cabling). You can remove some unused cables on the unit, which makes cable management easier. tongue.gif

wow RM40 difference while i just bought G550 last week for RM332 include post :/

semi-modular + Gold rated is much worth it imo.

++ the reason im getting G550 is because it also support haswell low power state wink.gif
then no need to worry for future upgrade; SOURCE: http://www.seasonic.com/new/twevent20130510.htm
