Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask...recently was approached by Hong Leong Assurance (HLA) agent.
I was introduced by a Investment plan where I need to put an amount of money annually, for a tenure of six years. The return was higher than FD (around 10%). The return depends on CIMB Evergreen fund.
Anyone heard of that? Not sure of the return guarantee as the agent keep on giving positive talk...saying if the fund performance drops at a certain rate in future, HLA will guarantee buy back at a fixed rate from you, therefore no loss...

Based on the records seems ok, but i am really not very experience in this. What is your basis of selecting these funds? What is your asset allocation strategy? How many % equity and fixed income? How many % in each geographical segment? RHB Asian Income fund is very popular in the FSM thread; the other 2 I'm not so familiar. Affin has quite a number of select asia fund, quantum is the most popular one But one should not buy into a fund due to its sheer popularity but what you need really

Affin Hwang Flexible Maturity Income Fund 6 - 3 yrs. 4.5% - 5% return pa.
Is this something good for me that is looking for a return of 4.5% per annum without the headache of hunting for FD every year? I have no issues to lock my funds for 3 yrs.
Please advise thanks.

QUOTE(T231H @ Nov 28 2016, 04:44 PM) what is the SC? 4.5% ~ 5% pa guaranteed like FD without the headache? No guarantee la (other than FD mana ada guarantee) but past income funds all exceed this rate. SC is 3% but will be returned in full if you dont exit during that 3 yrs.

How can I assess the effect of management fees? What time of the year are they deducted, or built into NAV but when?

Newcomer to unit trust world here.
Can recommend me a fund that is moderate and for mid-long term (5-10 yrs)? Heard Public Mutual has the highest service fee rate, is it true? Should I stay away from Pub Mutual at all costs? A friend keeps recommending me something called small-cap fund.
And also, is it better to put in lump sum or monthly as suggested by a friend?
Appreciate advise.

All UT sold by banks come with 5.5% service charge. Your best bet is FSM MY where serice charge is only 2%. Depends. If the market is down, no harm lump sum in. If it's up, then up slowly. Lump sum in at it's peak will cause you longer time to get your returns. Avoid all public mutual at all cost as they are not performing.
