Probably said before but....

Some people here discussing "long term investment for future gain" and some others "short term trading for quick profit."

Readers must know the difference, consider their own goals, time frame and risk level.

Well done boss... When I saw that photo I thought it doesn't make sense. Unless that fund made like 200% in Oct 2005-Oct2006; otherwise I cannot imagine how it can be so different

Again, well done!

Now we need to ask the poster what is the source and write to that newspaper to notify them of the mistake

Hi all.

Investment newbie here. Here's my story, i heard from a friend that his mom can get RM500 from government when you sign up with a PRS scheme with a minimum of RM1,000 deposit. So i contacted his mom, a CIMB Principal Asset Management consultant and got my PRS fund started and she also hard sell me to get UT. All this was done in December 2015.

So I decided to place 5% of my total savings into UT without much actual knowledge about it. Not a huge sum but only 5% of my miserable savings. But i now have some questions for both PRS & UT

PRS
1) Its coming 1 year and i have no letter, email or any information regarding my PRS funds. Gone missing liao or actively gaining interest? who do i call? who to ask? whats going on? lol

2) So i did some googling and realize that there are other financial institution providing PRS also. Whats the difference?

Unit trust
1) As mentioned, i have almost 0% knowledge when i was hard sold on UT. Heard abt it but i dont know how it works. So when it was time to choose funds/portfolio? I choose some equity fund portfolio... and since then I've been recieving letters and its been losing money whistling.gif what now? change portfolio? stick to it? what's next for me?

2) Now i got some extra money and i want to put steadily put RM100-RM200 monthly kinda thing. but since the fund i chose in december 2015 is losing money. what should i do? throw my extra spending money into PRS which locks in till 55?

TLDR: Got PRS and UT from CIMB. Dont know what happen to PRS account, but UT is losing money. Got some extra spending money and want to invest slowly into UT or PRS. What now senpai? please help, want to get the best understanding if possible

Do you mean:

CIMB-Principal PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity - Class C?

or

CIMB Islamic PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity - Class C?

Also, when did you start investing in? Only one lump sum or you do top up in the mean time?

Sorry late reply. Was in a meeting.

Yes i think its CIMB-Principal PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity - Class C

Started in December 2015. And due to my zero knowledge in Unit Trust i dont dare top up so fast... so i did a lump sum 5% of my savings and never top up d.

under 3 different dates scenarios.....would have some ROI if not for the % of Sales charges....
do you pay any sales Charges for the PRS fund last Dec?

Regarding the details of your PRS fund...would suggest you contact your friend's mum.......

You should have received something for your initial contribution with CIMB. Regardless of initial amount.

For the RM500 that you were told, it's actually called youth incentive and it's applicable to all other ppl who fulfills the age criteria. I never received any later saying that the RM500 has been paid to my PRS account. It will however be reflected in your annual/semi-annual statement from CIMB since it's supposed to show everything. The RM500 should be paid to your PRS account end of April.

UT, need to know when you invest, which fund you invested. It could be market is bad, and you were just right place wrong time, etc.

The returns are the gross performance of the fund as individuals may purchase the fund through different channel and period which may have different sales charge smile.gif
