Just want to know how long generally people invest in unit trust funds? 1 yr, 3 yrs, 5 yrs or longer? Anyone still keeping it after 10 yrs? Does keeping it longer really bring more value?

As long as in the long term (>5 years) your average annual profit can match EPF dividend, your unit trust investment is doing okay.

What about the next 3-5 yrs? Sure going down. Shall I keep it or sell it off now?

Affin Hwang Flexible Maturity Income Fund 6 - 3 yrs. 4.5% - 5% return pa.

Is this something good for me that is looking for a return of 4.5% per annum without the headache of hunting for FD every year? I have no issues to lock my funds for 3 yrs.

Please advise thanks.

what is the SC?
4.5% ~ 5% pa guaranteed like FD without the headache?

No guarantee la (other than FD mana ada guarantee) but past income funds all exceed this rate. SC is 3% but will be returned in full if you dont exit during that 3 yrs.

Newcomer to unit trust world here.

Can recommend me a fund that is moderate and for mid-long term (5-10 yrs)? Heard Public Mutual has the highest service fee rate, is it true? Should I stay away from Pub Mutual at all costs? A friend keeps recommending me something called small-cap fund.

And also, is it better to put in lump sum or monthly as suggested by a friend?

Appreciate advise.

I may be wrong but I think they only open the Public Small Cap for subsription for a short period of time few months back. It's now closed again. That's one of the best performing fund available on Public Mutual.

No point for me to tell you which fund house is good. Try look at http://iportfolio.com.my/ or morningstar
Are you being sarcastic actually? I couldn't quite tell
It's true that fees become insignificant if you are in for the long term. so I still pay more attention to returns than fees

Most of the funds not doing well. Only a handful and those may be closed by now. You have to do your own research.

I guys, want to get some advice for you all.

Last week i go to PBB for open PRS account and invested on 26th Dec 2017. However, the statement haven't sent to my hometown yet.

Hence do it consider PRS for 2017 which i can deduct from my income tax?

Your advice please.
*
I paid for my PRS at CIMB on 20 Dec and it only appeared in my PPA online account on 29 Dec. The paper statement belum sampai yet. Why dont you log in and check in your PPA statement. As long as its in there by 31 Dec, you can use it to deduct 2017 income tax. If not, sorry can only use to deduct 2018 income in 2019 tax submission.

Hi all sifus. I have some bond funds maturing by end of this month. Thinking of reinvesting but into equity funds instead and into Affin Hwang's Smart Invest Portfolio (65% Global / 35% Asia). I have other funds invested in MY already and since the market wil be opening up globally some time this or next year, Im thinking of going into this fund end of this month.

What would be your advise on (1) when to enter (2) horizon to hold (3) any other advise?

Thank you.

Just a note though,
If you had been happily in bonds for past,.... Any diversion into equities may have emotional shock when losses occurred.
Thus Affin Hwang smart invest portfolio will consist solely of Affin Hwang funds inside only.
You are comfortable with that? (all eggs into a basket)?
So have some mental n emotional preparation.

This is part of my diversification plan so I'm ready to hold for a max of 5 yrs. Noted on the mental prep needed if there are losses along the way.

Any other funds you would recommend?
