i think the main point here is, even if u want to buy from a shop and not sure if they're trustworthy or not, just buy the camera and lens kit and that's all. bag and SD card should be free.

it's when they start to offer you 'packages' like tripod or adapter this and filter that, for 'a good price', you should say NO.

they know it's easy for people to compare prices on the core stuff like camera and lenses so they cant con about those. people dont really know about adapters and filters and tripods so that's where they take advantage

they might offer u cheap body+kitlens.. then sell u overpriced UV filter, overpriced SD card P/S: i got cheated for extra 50 bucks for UV filter the bags n cards not to worry though.. bag is nikon and mostly cards r usable. haha

yea.. if pricing is ok then just get at lowyat.. but normally lowyat price it isn't that good. even when i ask around for d90, they quote me 2.8-2.9K. maybe u wanna try the shop in Sg wang/BB plaza, forgot the name though, there's a shop in pudu plaza also. buy online just buy from trusted seller loh. if price is tooo good to be true then be careful.

im planning to buy a d5100 next month..question is :

1) buy with kitlens or only body and get separate lens..
2) if get other lens what will be good for beginner, prime lens?
3) lastly what is the cheapest price for macro lens and good for beginner?

1. buy body
2. tamron 17-50 and nikon 50 f1.8
3. no idea

1) body and kit lens for me (nikkor better, 3rd party brand also okay but read more feedback from others la, lesser hassle if just stick to nikkor i think)
got some sifus here using other lens that is not nikkor one, can ask them the feedback also.
2) just kit lens enough. unless you are sure , REALLY SURE to use a prime lens. who knows actually kit lens actually good enough?
buy 50mm/35mm f/1.8prime ? that one wait for you get your body and kitlens first, then later find out is that lens in your need or not.
or else you will one part of garage sales.

2. nikon 18-105 (used), 35mm prime later
3. get nikon 50mm f1.8d n reverse mount it

For macro, get 40mm DX, 800+ only
Or tamron 90mm if you have extra moolah to spare
