got my D800 yesterday..seems like 16GB card only gets me 200 RAW files lossless compressed..and 249 RAW files compressed..both 14bit..

looking to upgrade my CF and SD in a short while but just wondering..is there alot of different between lossless compressed and compressed?

buddy, my CF card is empty (as shown on my computer) and i get 200 RAW shots shown on the display.

but thanks to u, now i know that the display is lying to me tried it a while ago and i get up to 346 shots with my empty 16GB card. any reason why the display's lying tho?

*kinda helps me in a way as most of my memory card sellers need to order the cards and it may take up to 2weeks time and i got an assignment this upcoming 17th..sigh*

Well, the number displayed in the LCD display are based on estimation and usually they take the largest possible when it comes to that. A image file size depending on the details captured, the more details in an image has larger file than an image with less details (for example many blown highlights). I'm not sure with the technical details on my assumption, but relatively I think this is how it happened. I can usually shots up to 800+ RAW files on my 16GB where it displays 500+ when it's empty.

I'm in da office too with Starbucks Peppermint Mocha beside me. This week though two public holidays but so many work to do

I supposed to be in studio today but not feeling well + my feet still killing me from last week events

honestly, i use live view zooming to get precise focusing. on a D800, the live view auto focusing is SUPERB. but when it comes to zoom > manual focusing, even the 60D can win due to screen lagness. and i use alot of zoom > manual focusing when it comes to video

good luck! i've tried to D600's video and it seems good enough. just that one thing i have to complaint..why i cannot set the aperture in live view?? huhu me so sad other than that, the video quality is nice. and being able to use FX and DX in video mode also is a nice feature

D90 to D5200, what do you guys say? an upgrade or downgrade move?
