i tried those smaller ones for product, not strong enough unless u do longer exposure...so for portrait u going to need much bigger ones but i doubt u will still get enough dof.stick with ur flashes.

of cos can be done with led, just how many led are u willing to use to get enough power.
if ur talking about those smaller 120 /160 / 198 led panels, then you probably need more anyway why cannot use a regular light to help focus? or even use one led to help focus? then when comes to exposure time, set the flash to overpower those lights so u can get more proper dof / higher shutter speed etc. same as for studio strobes which have modelling lights which are continuous also. |

ah niekerk...got one of his books.
he doesnt show his exposure settings there, but i think hes roughly shooting around f/4? tho i think that video is just a rough demo, cos the written stuff there says he uses it as additional light, not main light. |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Nov 10 2012, 09:35 PM) Not sure what settings, but its usable... plus modern camera nowadays can bump ISO up anyways. Then again, the demo he did only had 1 little LED light source. i was looking at yongnuo also before.Kinda curious on using that hehe... Digging best price for a YN-160 II now to play first. but there is another brand i checked out called led-5009 which has 120 leds, but comes with its own rechargeable batt...which for me better since i only got 8pcs AA...and i want to use flash also. maybe one day i go back check again and use a lightmeter app and measure how strong it is. |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Nov 11 2012, 09:12 AM) I think the YN-160 II I'm considering has 16 levels of brightness and comes with a remote. I saw Pro Images (Shop in Melaka) selling for RM248 on FB. hmm new model.tho i guess 16 lvls of brightness is more useful for video. actually the one i wanted to get is the aputure 198c. 198 leds, around rm260, and can adjust the color temperature without using gels. tho not many have it in stock yet...some aputure sellers dont even know it exists. QUOTE(celciuz @ Nov 11 2012, 10:25 AM) This Yongnuo can use those big lithium ion battery too if don't want to use AA. But then again I prefer using AA since AA cheaper and I can use for my flash hehe. the yongnou li-on batt must buy with seperate charger right? so i guess about extra rm120.I saw another brand with model CN-160, this one can stack the LED together! Really? But I shoot at f/1.4 and I use only center AF that led-5009 one is rm160 with the li-on batt + charger...how long it can last i dunno |

QUOTE(quarantined @ Nov 11 2012, 07:39 PM) Would you guys prefer the new D5200 over D7000, with the price into consideration? something similar like this one discussed before already couple pages or so with the d5100.Need help. Looking for my first DSLR here.. so ask urself what u want it for more...video or photos. tho if price not so important, wait til jan 2013 when nikon should announce either a d7100 or d400... QUOTE(celciuz @ Nov 12 2012, 10:45 AM) btw saw this.. the 198C and 198A can't work with all LED powered up... thats how it achieves the color balance. half are cooler, half are warmer...then got blend control. so of cos if at either extreme it only uses half, if color temp in the middle somewhere then all are used. |

QUOTE(Spoodo @ Nov 12 2012, 06:46 PM) Hi guys, I posted the oil spot problem on my D600 a while ago and fortunately due to a work travel, I'm in KL and managed to send my camera to Nikon for cleaning and checking. most likely they're going to change the mirror driving unit. They were shocked to see so much oil spots on it, and they said they'll do a sensor clean and I should be able to collect it today. Decided to call before heading out and I was told that the technician found a problem with my shutter and they are going to send it to PJ for further investigative work and try to remedy the problem. They did say, if have to, they will replace the shutter or mirror box. Upon searching what could be the cause, I came across this: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50141626 I'm quite unsure what the problem is because I was still shooting with it the day I sent it in with no problems. I'll keep you guys posted when I hear from them. at least thats what they do for the D7000 which had similar issues. what is nikon doing i also dunno, 2yrs on since D7000 came out and they still havent fixed the problem on the D600. |

QUOTE(Spoodo @ Nov 12 2012, 07:20 PM) Thanks for the info! Any idea how long it will take? I'll only be in KL for the next two weeks before going back to Kuching. all depends if they got parts or not...mine took less than a day.if no parts, then obviously has to come from wherever they get it...which may take up to 2-3 weeks. |

QUOTE(Pro3363 @ Nov 15 2012, 11:13 AM) Morning spam.... imo, it would look nicer if the whole flower was in focus, cos my eyes keep going up to the flower on top more.if not, then maybe a tighter crop. |

there is an unwritten rule for concert taking which is similar to portrait taking.
cutting off the instruments head is like cutting off the models hands. |

i would guess he would need 1 more flash from the left to light up that side of the car and the rims, and 1 more inside the car to light up the interior
