Seems that you're familiar with the mecha of FSS, dj898... Man, I love FSS, they're definitely the most gorgeous mecha designs I've ever seen. A pity there's not many plamo companies making them. The ones made by Volks are the best of all. I only got one FSS model so far, and that one was made by WAVE, not a bad model at all, seeing that these two plamo makers are the only ones in the world making FSS models anyway. Not much surprise that there are a number of buster launcher lookalikes in the Zeta Gundam series, since the mecha designer of FSS was one of the designers for the mechas of Zeta Gundam, so he might have given the infuence for the team... And talking about my FSS model, it's now one of my two currently ongoing plamo projects (the other one is doing heavy conversion on my older Nu Gundam model... into something else, heh heh...), so it'll involve a number of scratchbuilt parts especially for the second model. Thus, my question for the other modellers is: What is the best kind and brand of putty to use for this kind of task, one that is easy to apply and shape. Wave was brave to attempt injection molding kits unlike Volks' overpriced(?) resin kits...
still Junon(?) is the one of my favourite followed by KoF - early version not the later one... |

yeap....the KoF of 2988 is also my fav model of FSS, btw, dj you read the comic?? wanna look for the 11th copy of it.
oh...and btw, the MH that clotho control is call Unicon, the word they use there is German. anyway, you might have know this already. Fodder Soldier, if I'm not mistaken, the best putty to make the scratchbuilt part is e-poxy putty. This post has been edited by Guyver: Mar 29 2006, 10:18 AM |

yea I used to have the original manga up to vol. 5 or 6 before I lost stacks of 'em...
I did noticed my local Japanese bookshop has entire Chinese versions? O_O Think it's called as [jyunon] in the Japanese manga though didn't know how it's spelled in English... This post has been edited by dj898: Mar 29 2006, 10:50 AM |

OT,
I managed to get English-translated FSS volume 1-8 (except 7, shit I believe King Colus III's flag MortarHeadd was spelled Junchoon in English (although pronounced 'Juhnohn') I love every MH design that ever came out in FSS, but my real favourites so far would be KoG, LED Mirage, Vatshu, Junchoon, and the gi-normous Jagd Mirage. Hail AKD! Back to T, Thanks for the info, Guvyer. I will start looking for it A.S.A.P. Can't wait to continue modifying my Nu Gundam. hehehe....sorry, guys....but I manage to get up until 10th, anyway, it's in chinese....
Junchoon - the spelling is correct, but you suppost to pronounce of this word in german, and when you read it in german, it will sound like unicon in english. This post has been edited by Guyver: Mar 29 2006, 01:41 PM |

Yeah, I've started on my 1/144 Wild Wurger over the last few days, and to my horror... ZOMG the eye visor isn't painted, and there's no stickers for it.
Anyone here know of any stores that sells neon green (not bright colored, those that looked mid-light emerald green, like the ones used to color GM's head camera) enamel/acrylic paints? |

QUOTE(infested_ysy @ Mar 28 2006, 04:09 PM) Pretty sure it's Litt Tak (they have their stickers on all the wrapped model kit boxes I used to have), though I think many now import them without going through any 'official third party' to reduce costs. Or at least I don't see any such stickers anymore in the newer kits I bought (MG Freedom, Wild Falken/Wurger, HGUC Hazel and Advanced Hazel). oic... thanks a lot then i can come here to sell |

When drawing panel lines, if you want to get a fine line, use a tissue paper to rub it off after drawing the line (wait for a while for the ink to set in). Voila! U get a fine panel line. The longer u wait to rub it off, the thicker the line will b after rubbing off. But always keep a marker remover juz in case any accident...hehe. Sorry, my cam not wif me, so can't snap a pic n show it here, will post later |

QUOTE(prazole @ Mar 30 2006, 02:34 PM) noob here How old is this brother of yours? I wouldn't give him a Freedom (given how popular SEED is right now >_>, non-CE FTW!) if I were you. I'd get him a Methuss instead lol (though given how kids thesedays knows nothing about Gundam other than Wing and SEED, he certainly won't appreciate it)wanna ask a few questions i thought of getting gundam for my bro's birthday.. and so i went to the shop for some survey thing.. but so many choices and different prices.. so i thought i ask some of u guys pro here first.. i think i want to get him "Gundam Freedom" looks cool 1) but i saw there are more than juz one.. and some around RM175 some smaller box RM 100 like that.. and is there more than one company producing all theses things? wat u guys recommend? 2) also.. do u need any extra equipment or something to fix ur gundam? thanks 3) whats the different scale available.. and how does the scale translate to inches? $) lastly i saw got HG, SD.. etc.. whats these? 1) NO. Currently, Bandai has the monopoly in manifacturing every Gundam model kit. They have a smaller branch named B-Club that produces custom resin parts for certain kits, but that's another story (professional, expensive crap). 2) depending on the grade, one can use airbrush, paintbrush, acrylic/enamel, markers, sanding paper, plastic cement, plastic putty. But it's entirely optional. You could always fvck up your 1/144 non-grade model kit by just assembling it out of box without coloring it. 3) there's 1/1700 (for ships), 1/400 (DX collection, DX Neo), 1/200 (HCM Pro), 1/144 (NG, HG, HGUC), 1/100 (MG, NG), 1/60 (PG,NG) or heck, 1/12 (resin crap). A normal Gundam unit should be around 18m in actual height, so work out the scaling of the kits yourself 4) HG = High Grade, MG = Master Grade, PG = Perfect Grade, SD = Super Deformed, NG = non graded (they don't actually print it on the box), HGUC = High Grade Universal Century |

Get a small cup of water by your table, and upon applying the panel lines, immediately dip your thumb/finger into the water, and rub it, before wiping off the water with a cloth (I usually use my shirt, since cotton loves water so much). It's much faster and environmental friendly (me, caring about teh environment? lol) that way. |

QUOTE(prazole @ Mar 30 2006, 02:34 PM) noob here Actually you should check a few post back, there's a post talking about this.wanna ask a few questions i thought of getting gundam for my bro's birthday.. and so i went to the shop for some survey thing.. but so many choices and different prices.. so i thought i ask some of u guys pro here first.. i think i want to get him "Gundam Freedom" looks cool 1) but i saw there are more than juz one.. and some around RM175 some smaller box RM 100 like that.. and is there more than one company producing all theses things? wat u guys recommend? 2) also.. do u need any extra equipment or something to fix ur gundam? thanks 3) whats the different scale available.. and how does the scale translate to inches? $) lastly i saw got HG, SD.. etc.. whats these? Anyway, here's the answer for you questions. 1) There's only one company that is producing the Gundam model and that's Bandai, other than that are all fake Gundam model made by some crapy China pirate factory. Oh...BTW, there are also some small Jap's company making Gundam model or assories too, but those model are for Pros and one will burn a big hole in your pocket. I do recommend you to tell us your budget and your brother's age, then we can help you to choose the model that suits him, if he is too young, then 1/100 HG might be too complicated for him. 2) Yes, you do need extra tools to build your Gundam model. But basically the cutter is the only thing that you'll need if you're not going to modify the model. 3) There are several scale sizes available, but the most common scale that you will find in Malaysia is 1/144, 1/100 and 1/60. The 1/XXX determine how big the model gonna be, the smaller the number, the bigger the model. A normal 1/100 Gundam model will be around +/- 18cm tall, for 1/60 that will be around +/- 30cm. 4) The HG, MG, PG & SD are all grades of the model. There are several grades from Bandai. 1. No Grade - Normally a No Grade model will not carries any grade marking on it's box. The model of this grade will have lesser parts, the colour of most parts will have to paint by the maker and it can only pose in very little way. 2. High Grade - Normally there will be a "HG" marking on the the box. The model of this grade will have more parts than No Grade, some parts will come in detail colour and it can pose most of the common pose. 3. Master Grade - Normally ther wil be a "MG" marking on the box. the model of this grade will have more parts compare to a "HG", most of the parts will come detail color and can pose a lot of pose. 4. Perfect Grade - The master of all grade, the model of this grade will carry a "PG" marking on it's box. The model will come in detail either colors or parts (eg: every finger can be bend and move, got led for the eyes and etc) and it can pose what every pose you can think of. 5. Super Deform - The cute version of the model. Short legs and hand, small torso and a big head. there are also some that cannot fall into any of these catagory, like the big scale, HCMpro, Gundam FIX, MSinAction and so on. Hope that I've anser your question. This post has been edited by Guyver: Mar 30 2006, 04:21 PM |
