LOADS of them are out there. Just jump in and join lor. But you must know one thing about the OnG community, we might be a huge industry but we are a small community, hence most ppl in OnG know each other before some got into it, in other words, go rub shoulders with some OnG ppl and get them to pull you in. hehehe

Can pull me in also? Wanted to join OnG but find no road... hehe biggrin.gif

May I know what's the prospect like for offshore inspection engineer working for rov companies? What's the pay like once you have enough experience (ex. 3 years)?

Also, how about the career path?

nah...if petronas...only RM80/day for offshore..other contractors ranging RM110-150 for Field engineer..

freshie cant get 300-400/day...UNLESS, u are working with SLB/BH/HBRTN which they pay 1.5x(Basic) for u are offshore..something like that..not quite sure..

believe me..if u work offshore (for freshie) and got Rm300-400/day allowance..u are in a very damn rich company..dont QUIT.hahha biggrin.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Really? I suggest you do more market research first. Oil and Gas companies doesn't consist of SLB, BH and HBRTN only.

If you want to be rich, join Company contractor (Haliburton, Baker Huges, Technip)

If you want power, join SHELL, ESSO, PETRONAS.
Reason being, you only monitor those contractors to do your job..hehe

The contractor company earn a lot of money from this giant ONG company.

Hello guys,

Please help me here.

I am a mechanical engineer and I have been working as a Sales/Contracts Engineer in the construction industry for 2 years now.

I plan to try the Oil and Gas industry as a Sales Engineer in the near future and I hope someone can enlighten me on this matter.

My questions is... Who usually hire Sales Engineers in this industry? As far as I know, big O&G contractors like SLB, HLB, BH and Technip do not hire Sales Engineer but they do hire Contracts Engineer and I would understand why. On the other hand, i believe the matter is the same in big O&G operators such as Shell and Petronas.

But I would very much prefer the role of Sales Engineer as I like the feeling of being rewarded with commissions and hitting sales target.

So, please, I hope someone can help me by shedding some light on this matter.

If u do not want to post it in this thread, please send me a PM. I can assure you that matters will be kept confidential.

I really need your help. Thank you very much.

In the O&G, there're lots of vendors that requires Sales Engineer. If you search at the online job agency like jobstreet, you'll find several sales position are open for O&G companies.

Dude, U wanna stay a sales engineer? then stick to SALES!!! u're a salesman not an engineer. Get your stuff sorted out dude.

As for pulling anyone in.. I dun see you guys rubbing any shoulders with me? so how? lolx. i'm currently based in Miri, sarawak, and i'm sure you guys are not cos if you are you would know how it works in O&G. Heck this is an Oil Town anyways.
