my uncle just offered me a course in industry safety&health supervisor.... ill be given the following certificate...

OSH certificate
basic rigging and slinging certificate
absic first aid & cpr certificate
fire watch certificate
NIOSH CARD-OGSP
Green card-cidb

just finished my diploma..while waiting for degree,ill be taking this course as i have time,the question here is,will i be able to join any of the oil & gas company with this certificate...how about the pay?

with ur degree, cert n being a member of niosh... n assuming ur fresh with at leaast 2nd class n above.. 3k... with 1-2 years experience 4-5k

nowadays cert/degree doesnt matter..its the experience there are looking for..just finish my internship at pcsb sko(petronas carigali sdn bhd,sarawak operation)..one guy really pity him,he just graduated from UTP,ofcourse if ur under petronas sponsorship u have to work for them as a mean to pay them back,sadly the company doesnt have any position left..so they end up not hiring him,instead just have to pay 10k to petronas..so when u finish study find some part time work or internship for awhile then ur marketable..

You mean that guy has to pay back 10K when Petronas has no position for him? I guess that condition was stated in the contract, but who would have thought a big company like Petronas can't even accomodate a fresh graduate.

i thought if Petronas has no position for him he will automatically be released after 6 months or something like that ?

No position for freshie cos they offered scholarship to so many ppl mah .. then now need to cut cost . . .

I'm not sure if nuclear science involves radioactive. But if you have something to do with radioactives, you can try for the NDT (Non Destructive Test). Some use radioactives to inspect pipeline. (Right?) At least, I know one such company that does.

Btw, I'm still new in the OnG industry. I'm actually from the electronics degree background. I jumped into a OnG supplier company recently (since that was the only company that offered) from RnD company. Got a position as sales engineer. My salary cut was quite huge but I was fired up to work in OnG at that time and was willing to start from beginning (reealy wanted to feel how it is to go offshore).

Do you think there is any possibility for me to move towards technical position later on? I am hoping to get a position that does field work. Does my experience in OnG doing sales count, to allow me to move towards me being able to do field work?

Thanks for any feedback. I really am lost in my career direction in OnG since my background is in electronics. There does not seem to be much options but they say it exists.

they are released after 6 months but they also need to pay back according to pay structure decided by ESU of PETRONAS as it is actually a convertible loan.

yes the number of scholars are too many rite now while the opening for junior engineer is not that much. but that is definitely not the case for experienced engineers which they are currently looking in huge numbers in various position.

halo bro, newbie here, now i still study at TAS academy oil & gas UMS level 1, still new.Mechanical discipline.. i have one question, what they will do in practical training or OJT for mechanical engineering in oil & gas industries?? i mean in onshore..sorry for my english is so bad huhu..

I would strongly recommend you to take this as an additional cert. You have more choices in getting a job.

no way you could demand for allowance, bro. it's already good enough they give. and bear in mind some company doesn't even give you monthly pay.

is it? haha. thanx for the feedback. any recommendations on OnG or Automotive place for internship? i wanna try Proton. but quite scared if they expect CGPA more than 3.5. huhu

well, dun think so u can... normally all internship for a company has the same pay... u will look foolish and greedy for trying to demand ur allowance demand... anyway, no harm trying, lol...
