Not interested!!!!........ Are you from Banking line? What are you talking about?... You're refering to "can view staffs account or customer account"? I'm from HQ and not branch... Only branches staffs can views the customer accounts!... Others all cannot!!!... We are not HR, you expect us can access to view others staffs salaries? If yes, it could be a very big crisis will happen to the bank lol....

So, why they returned back to work in M'sia? What jobs they are current working in M'sia?
erm...who went back?
i said they left m'sia to come sg and were not shortchanged. sweat.gif sweat.gif

QUOTE(samual8833 @ Jan 31 2013, 06:19 PM)
How do you know they didn't do well for their interviews? As u said, all companies try to offer you a lower pay!... I think you also know the reason right? The salary report is based on the research. They are selected sampling to study and not include all population!... And, the salary report that you mentioned is based on the position for all singaporean and foreigners!... Of course, they have gone through the salary report and they don't think that's accurate information!... I'm not doing exact the same thing like them. Now, I prefer to know the real life experiences from yours...
*

i said OR...i do not know how they did for their interview. doh.gif doh.gif
i am making guesses based on the amount they were offered (accepted or not i also duno) vs the amount ppl i know are earning.
i nvr said the salary report is accurate...if based on the salary report alone, i am earning too low.
the only low salary i was "offered" was by ONE single agency (which i did not even bother remembering the name) asking me to reduce my expected salary by 50% or they are unable to find me any jobs.
i politely declined and continued searching and here i am now for 2 years+ and i got what i written in my resume when i was offered my first job in SG,
even from the job ads which i see that mentioned the salary range back when i was applying, they are not as low as your description...yes, some were lower than my expected written in my resume as i hiked it up for buffer when company tries to nego, but still within reasonable range of my expected.

my experience?
maybe i was very much underpaid back home and i got a 30% increase in number when i came here...oh, my wife too.
my ex-housemate as a fresh grad had less 100 compare to his pay back home (he worked there for less than 6 months so i consider that freshie)

What do you work as and how much salary range u are in now? U got 30% increase in number (SGD) for ur 1st job in sg? That's good! Previously, u are asking help from agents? Do they charge you for any fees? Like stated in term and conditions. Must work at least 6 months! If you tender within 6 months, you hv to compensate 3 months salaries to the company?

I realised that most of the companies are looking for foreigners to fill the jobs in Tuas/ Jurong/ Loyang! Who is working in Tuas?

The problem is not the installment, it is the down-payment. Vast majority of us coming over from Malaysia wouldn't have rm500k in savings lying around to plonk down on the condo, so no choice but to rent.
*
True.

But with reference to the dude who posted the rant,.. if he's considering a S$2.5K++ rental, he's bound to have something stashed away or be in a position to accumulate a significant amount over the next few years.

I am trying to play a devil’s advocate. It just doesn’t make sense to dump RM500k into SG property unless it’s for personal reason. From the perspective of opportunity cost, it just irrational. With RM500k cash you could have invested into a chain of restaurants or in a distributorship business with minority stakes in Msia.

Again, as the saying goes “it is easier to find money than opportunities”.
*
Risk and return.

SG private property is as close to risk free as you can get, with the sole risk factor being the govt not allowing foreigners and non-residents to buy.

For a salary man to dump RM500K into a business in Malaysia which he doesn't run on a daily basis, doesn't know the industry nor the players etc... all I can say is come talk to me. I can set you up as an investor in any number of businesses in Malaysia. Anything you want, I can set you up. Just bring the cash, and my associates will run the business profitably for you.

Imagine with a combine household income of more than S$20k per month ! It is as good as an expat.

Expats have it much better. Rental budget alone for director level expats is S$15-20K. Execs is S$5-12K depending on job level.

Wow, so good.

Maybe u can gimme some advice then.

I just arrived in sg for 1 month, sorta stabilized my life, got my 1st paycheck, which isn't much. I was thinking of some investment or sorts. I probably would have 1k to set back for investment every month. What do u think I should do with that? I know its little, but everything started small rite. Tq.

Of course they are.

A guy in another country wants to invest 500K cash with you, has no knowledge of the industry and leaves you to run the business, write cheques etc... if not water fish, then what?

They are my trusted friends. That's truth... As both of them wanted to work in sg and they find sg jobs quite long time edi... That's the fact, Master of Engineer from UK also got low paid!... haha... U also know they will only offer 1.6K- 1.8K SGD to M'sian dont care of you're Overseas/ Public / Private University freshgraduated in M'sia? That's very truth!

For 2nd scenario, Maybe, she feel like get bully by the employer with the cheap paid! That's why she didn't accept the offer and continue to work in KL!... Is that their offer the salary to M'sian without SG working experiences is after convert to MYR? For example, they offer you 2K SGD X 2.40 (Exchange rate)= 4800 MYR!... And, they don't think of you can get 4.8K in KL!...

UK master in engineer is undergrad 1... not post grad...

No need expat to earn that kinda figure. A Msia banker (who is actively involve in this thread) and his wife already earning more than $10K/month individually, working for a foreign bank based in Sg with headquarters in London . Also generating high incomes thru food blogging website. Imagine with a combine household income of more than S$20k per month ! It is as good as an expat.
*
i think both of them combine more than $30k ler... not per annum.. per month!!! be bonus shocking.gif my pay not even 10% man... but at least i got a job ler..

1st of all, may I know your qualification (Oversea/ Public/ Private Uni/ College)? What kind of bank (Overseas or Sg local Bank) u want to join? Your qualification is very important for them to shortlist you as a freshgraduated.

It's depend on your interest. There are so many MNC in SG from different kind of industry! What kind of industry you're interest with? That is important too... One thing I can tell you is very difficult to get MNC jobs! Unless, you have excellent qualification and full with relevant skilled, knowledge and experiences that can apply to the job that you apply!... Else, they will not going to look further more on ur resume!... You must be very presentable for your interviews and try to persuade the interviewers!...

On a whim I added up every single ringgit I've earned in the 5+ years I worked in KL before coming over to SG. After conversion, also not enough to put downpayment on a 4 room resale HDB flat haha rclxub.gif

i know right..currently still in the process of preparing my resume. I know the interviews are gonna be tough, but... just try to apply first and see if i managed to get call for interview.

btw im graduated from australia, business degree, major in acct and finance. Prefer to join oversea banks compared to local ones. To be honest, i have good grades and CGPA of 3.5 but when it comes to relevant or specialized skills, duhhh i have no working experience relating to accounting/finance/investment! And i'm not really clear about current finance issue in msia or singapore, i guess this thing would put me into great disadvantage sad.gif But I'm reading on some finance magazines to brush myself up with all those current issues, hopefully it helps.

one more thing, what position can a freshgrad apply as for their first job? Most of my degree coursemates which are working in msia local banks, mostly working under sales banking (ie sell credit card or some sort of banking marketing job), basic salary rm2.8k. Is this the entry job for freshgrad? need to start off with marketing stuffs before getting into credit or loan department etc? o.o and whats the salary range for freshgrad in sg?
