In here i earned rm 8k ++.

If I got an offer for the same digit of pay in RM with my pay in SG now (don't consider exchange rate, like 1k RM salary vs 1k SGD salary), I would have gone back long ago.

There must be a reason why these subjects are taught, not just in Malaysia.
It was reported that MOE has started to incorporate moral values into their current subjects.

Still can remember Parameswara until forming of Malaysia history... But when start talking government system, then totally blur, feel like brain washing.

For Moral, its the same 16 chaprter every year, for the whole secondary school period... Kebaikan hati, hormat-menghormati rclxub.gif

I'm struggling to find jobs in SG due to the current economy in SG! Few agency told me that quite a number of EP holders being downgrade to S-Pass holders and finally they got back to work in KL. I'm a degree holder with 3 years working experiences in MNC Electonic company in KL! I think of change my life and find a job in SG. Is there anyone can help me to look for procurement/ Buyer/ supply chains/ etc in SG? Or, you may provide me information regarding those jobs whether it is easy to get in SG? Thanks.
*
Does those agency charge you commission if you found a job? Like half or a month of your salary? Very annoyed with those kind of agency. Apply direct to the company's website or adv. Degree holder with 3 years exp not bad already.

Just a quick one.

If i bought Electric Appliance for personal use worth SGD 300, do i need to declare it when going back to Malaysia? (at Malaysia kastam) smile.gif
*
If in doubt, always declare. I think personal use also need to pay tax. Throw the box and bring in your bag. How much is the tax for electric appliance tax if bring back btw?

No. They didn't.. Coz I haven't get SG job. I also refer to KL recruitment firm to help but they tell me the economy situation and what they know from those who is worked in SG and returned to KL!... I applied for both recruitment firm sg and direct employers! One thing really make me dissapointed is they just want to looking for Singaporean/ SPR to fill those posts! Actually, I got 5 years working experiences.. 2 years from others fields. I'm very interested to the buyer and supply chains jobs but my relevant working experiences in this field is only 3 years!... I received a few calls from US MNC & domestic company in SG, they conducted phone interview with me. But, there's no news from them. I really want to know the salary range offer in SG for those positions!... I know that they are very straight to looking for a candidates to fill those positions! Hope yours can provide some information regarding my case. Thanks.
*
Salary wise I don't know because I not in your field.

SG/SPR only is because of the quota for permit for foreigners by the ministry, even they hire you, the ministry don't give permit also no choice. So, don't be sad because of that. Maybe you can try to apply employment pass, like no quota for employment pass.

Hi John,
Thanks for your valuable information. I know that's impossible to get SPR nowaday. Unless, 3 years ago shouldn't be a problem. Coz my friends also got SPR and it is their company straight away help them to apply SPR. I don't think they will give EP for us nowaday. The most possible should be WP instead of EP. Only engineers may get EP, others fields should be quite hard to get EP. I views those jobs from web or ads almost all looking for SG/ SPR. I could only found 1 or 2 jobs out of 200 jobs stated want to hire SG/SPG/ Malaysian!.... Sad to the MAX!... :'( I believe that their govt is very straight now!... That's why many companies tends to only hire SG/SPR and they do not want to waste so many times to looking for foreigners if get reject by govt!...
By the way, you're working in what industry?
*
I from construction site.

I also read the news of increasing the population, again... Last time they increase the population few years back already. Feel so crowded already compare to first time I come here. Now want to increase again...

Mean good chance for you to apply, just keep trying until get.

Luckily my 2nd group job still save la, 7 more years before they decide want to take back my pass or not.

Btw, for PR, will they take back your PR? Like don't approve the renewal of the re-entry permit. Some rumours I heard after you reject their invitation for citizenship, next time want to renew re-entry permit then will get rejected. No re-entry permit mean go out of the country as resident but return as visitor?

They are my trusted friends. That's truth... As both of them wanted to work in sg and they find sg jobs quite long time edi... That's the fact, Master of Engineer from UK also got low paid!... haha... U also know they will only offer 1.6K- 1.8K SGD to M'sian dont care of you're Overseas/ Public / Private University freshgraduated in M'sia? That's very truth!

For 2nd scenario, Maybe, she feel like get bully by the employer with the cheap paid! That's why she didn't accept the offer and continue to work in KL!... Is that their offer the salary to M'sian without SG working experiences is after convert to MYR? For example, they offer you 2K SGD X 2.40 (Exchange rate)= 4800 MYR!... And, they don't think of you can get 4.8K in KL!...

1.6 - 1.8 for engineer... I really think they smoke you. 10 years ago maybe, not now.

Maybe u can gimme some advice then.

I just arrived in sg for 1 month, sorta stabilized my life, got my 1st paycheck, which isn't much. I was thinking of some investment or sorts. I probably would have 1k to set back for investment every month. What do u think I should do with that? I know its little, but everything started small rite. Tq.

Best investment now is Hong Pao Toto. Highest return rate is 20 millions times ur initial investment, go where find.

the new passports that are ICAO standard or something like that have this logo:

but my previous passport without this logo (issued in april 2007, expired april 2012) also can pass through SG autogate leh.

My previous passport issued in 2003 can use the autogate, should be no problem for newer one than 2003.

QUOTE(LiangZhuge @ Feb 4 2013, 06:13 PM)
Did he change the passport after the initial MOM registration ? Last time I could use my old passport but after I changed to a new passport (old one expired), cannot use autogate. The SG officer told me to go register the new passport number with some agency which I forgotten (not sure if direct to Immigration office as MOM have my latest passport number as after I changed passport and informed HR, they key in online). Just ask your friend to ask the officer where and how to enable the autogate process. I didn't bother with the re-registration but I can use the autogate now.

Normally the MOM data will snyc with immigration after a few weeks. Ask your friend to try after a couple of weeks / months smile.gif

Last time after I renew my passport they help me to update at the custom counter in Changi. Very fast process.

Working in Singapore very ma fan one. Not for the feint heart and lonely soul.

My gf signed 1 year contract HDB rental via agent. Is there any legal concern for her not to contact back the agent and sign a new contract (as well as pay agent fee) after 1 year upon current contract lapse?
*
I never renew any contract after the initial one finished. I rented 5-6 places before, single room, whole unit, whole house. All of the landlords, and myself, don't want to renew any contract via agent because of the agent fee, some fee cost few k depending on the place. Landlords have to pay their agent fee too. My previous landlords that I want to continue to stay at the same places are nice people, those bad people (so far only met 1 bad landlord) I will just move out after the contract end, so you think they are ok people after one year of knowing them, you can save the agent fee and continue without contract, most of the time they also will do the same if they think you are nice tenant.

QUOTE(momijigari @ Feb 5 2013, 05:27 PM)
Just curious, even with an agent and a contract, don't think it would help much?
It's a norm here apparently, my previous landlord only pay us back half of our 1 month deposit. Got a friend who rented a whole unit, paid the last month rental and the landlord went MIA, deposit burnt.
They love money much more than we do, apparently.
*
NO! Its not a norm here. Don't let them bully you. You should go to the police. First thing they will ask you is you got contract or not, if don't have they will say they can't help you. But if got, for your case, I think is under them. Landlord took your money don't return to you. Like thief.

I got all my deposit back the moment I clean the house and hand them back the keys. No reason like forgot to take money, no money now, bank in to account next time etc.

If you want to protect yourself, do all the deposit/rental through bank for records. Most people just pay cash without any receipt... if the landlord want to be funny, kick you out say you never pay rent then you don't have any proof.

Few pointers noted from your post. Will move out right after contract ends.
Another thing, since we paid in cash, do you need any other evidence of not receiving your deposit if it happens?
*
I was just editing my post just now because I forgot to add in that part.

"If you want to protect yourself, do all the deposit/rental through bank for records. Most people just pay cash without any receipt... if the landlord want to be funny, kick you out say you never pay rent then you don't have any proof."

When you first pay deposit, your agent should be with you together to sign the contract with the landlord, if agent not there then don't pay the agent fee rclxms.gif . The agent will give you receipt, saying that you pay how much for deposit, and also receipt for the first month rental. Your monthly rental if can then you bank in, if not can ask the landlord to give receipt. If they ask you trust them don't worry, then up to you already... My first landlord actually do give out receipt every month even I bank in to him, very pro one the receipt. But other landlords never.

Now ah cat ah dog all want rent out their place because of the high rental, then a lot of problems. A lot of landlord from hell stories from my friends. Tenant must protect themselves too.

do that at your own risk.
there was a case where party A sent a letter of intent to extend the lease 6 months before the lease expire
landlord did not reply.
party A assumed landlord had no problem and agreed and continued paying rent on time and landlord accepted
6 months later after the original lease expired, landlord kicked party A out of the building.
they went to court, court sided landlord as there was no written agreement and landlord did not do any wrong accepting the rent for 6 months.
i forgot whether this happened in sg or somewhere else (read this quite some time ago, probably a few months ago)
party A was industrial or at least business entity, not residential
i believe a contract can still be drafted between landlord and tenant without the agent for rooms rental.
agents did not provide receipt of payment for deposit?
*
The case you said is tenant asked for 6 month extension and the landlord kick tenant out after the end of the 6 month extension. Like that is ok because tenant asked for 6 month after expired, landlord give 6 month more, 6 month after expired then finish already tenant have to go right?

My worst one is landlord want kick me out straight (say next day) during the contract, say willing to pay me back the deposit, because according to him I used too much PUB bills, which he show me about 30-50 increase after I move in. Dam you rent room, you put in the PUB bill inside the room rental already, contract said clearly PUB bills included already, now want kick? Think he hoping to earn 50 extra, thinking I will give way because no place to stay if he really kick me out. My lawyer friend help me to write to him, say have to repay the deposit, moving cost, rental for temporary hotel until I find my new place, lost of income because of leave to move house and his fee for writing that letter. Then landlord nothing more to say, whole year never talk until move out ask him for deposit and bye bye. Wasted my one meal for friend. Don't let people bully you bah, come so far earn blood sweat money, want to cheat my money some more...

Small claim like rental below some amount, no need go to court straight with lawyer, got small claim court or some other thing. They can settle for you with a very small fee. I forgot the details friend told me last time. Those court one is rich man playground, unless your landlord very rich, nothing better to do want squeeze your neck until you die.
