QUOTE(samual8833 @ Jan 31 2013, 01:43 AM) Oh... I worked in Banking before!... I dislike the job!... I found out General banking experiences is only applicable to jump within the same banking line! Because banking skills really cannot apply to others jobs! Unless, yours from investment banking/ forex/ financial consultant/ banking sales jobs! That's why I jump out from banking and do not want to apply banking job anymore!... I just finished degree in accounting and finance, thinking to apply jobs in sg but not sure what kind of jobs yet.. some seniors told me that if i got a job which is too specialized in banking line, it would be very hard to apply for some other jobs in the future, like what u said in your post. aih, i need some advice please. |

QUOTE(samual8833 @ Jan 31 2013, 05:00 PM) Yes. Your friend is right!... You have to decide urself.. Nobody can help you coz that's ur future!... Honesty to tell you, I felt regret to join banking!... My banking colleagues are very interested to their jobs that's why they decided to join banking since they graduated till they retired!... Their plan is to jump here and there to get better offer from others banks (General Banking will always be d normal salary, dont expect you can earns more! Unless, u are doing investment banking or sales banking)! If you really join and want to withdraw yourself from banking line and join others fields is quite impossible! Unless, ur friends can introduce you to the new job!... Else, u will be always in banking or run ur own business!... Many colleagues graduated from Degee in accounting/ finance/ business admin/ international business admin/ entrepreneurship/ economic also don't want to join banking!... And, few of them managed to withdraw themselves from banking to work as sales and marketing!... hmm different ppl has different opinion la.. im thinking to join either banks or mnc. really need to think carefully but that would be my very first job anyway, no idea whether i will like it or not. maybe i should just give it a try. |

QUOTE(samual8833 @ Jan 31 2013, 10:51 PM) 1st of all, may I know your qualification (Oversea/ Public/ Private Uni/ College)? What kind of bank (Overseas or Sg local Bank) u want to join? Your qualification is very important for them to shortlist you as a freshgraduated. i know right..currently still in the process of preparing my resume. I know the interviews are gonna be tough, but... just try to apply first and see if i managed to get call for interview. It's depend on your interest. There are so many MNC in SG from different kind of industry! What kind of industry you're interest with? That is important too... One thing I can tell you is very difficult to get MNC jobs! Unless, you have excellent qualification and full with relevant skilled, knowledge and experiences that can apply to the job that you apply!... Else, they will not going to look further more on ur resume!... You must be very presentable for your interviews and try to persuade the interviewers!... btw im graduated from australia, business degree, major in acct and finance. Prefer to join oversea banks compared to local ones. To be honest, i have good grades and CGPA of 3.5 but when it comes to relevant or specialized skills, duhhh i have no working experience relating to accounting/finance/investment! And i'm not really clear about current finance issue in msia or singapore, i guess this thing would put me into great disadvantage one more thing, what position can a freshgrad apply as for their first job? Most of my degree coursemates which are working in msia local banks, mostly working under sales banking (ie sell credit card or some sort of banking marketing job), basic salary rm2.8k. Is this the entry job for freshgrad? need to start off with marketing stuffs before getting into credit or loan department etc? o.o and whats the salary range for freshgrad in sg?
